I was moronic in many respects but pretty good at math, I found it easy and scored straight As in mock tests, however my teacher hated me so he put me in a final exam where the highest grade I could get was B, for example. We weren't getting into the advanced classes, we weren't getting into a good college or MENA or the GATE program or whatever.
As a kid in elementary school I was a straight A student, I was good at everything effortlessly. I don't think I was ever considered gifted or anything, but I was a smart kid, kind of a smartass. Not American, so I'm not too familiar with MENA and GATE, but I was never in any kind of program. In high school I got by doing the bare minimum, I became kind of a slacker but not the cool type, just a weird loner.
