I'm a moderate fan of the games and have never seen any of the RE movies (the ones with Milla Jovovich)
I know the last 2 are considered flaming garbage so can I watch this series without seeing the last 2? How much of the games or which ones do they adapt?

1 and 2 are decent shlock action flicks that are fun to watch.
After that it goes off the rails completely, culminating in RE6 which somehow retcons even the shitty flimsy as frick premise and characters established in the previous films
1 and 2 are definitely the best ones and 3-4 are fun enough. I dont really care about the games at all though.
The biggest problem of these movies is that they retcon their own story in almost every single one of them. The Final Chapter retcons literally everything they ever established in a way that doesnt make any sense. And the movie itself isnt even visually fun to watch, it's just bad.

Resident Evil: Retribution ended perfect.
i watched that Netflix raccoon city movie and actually liked it, for the most part. raccoon city, the police station, the mansion, umbrella they all look and feel much closer to the games than the original movies, and the main characters are all the game characters (Jill/Leon/Chris/Claire/Wesker) so that was cool. but at the same time they brownwashed Jill and Leon, so what's the point? i'm not even really a big fan of the games, i just prefer accurate adaptations

Capcom didn’t want them using the major characters in a way they didn’t like. Alice was originally going to be revealed as Jill in the first movie, but was kept nameless after Capcom told them to eat ass.
Capcom also doesn’t like adaptations that steer too close to the source. They’re afraid that people would just watch the movies instead of playing the games, negatively impacting sales.
