The show is quite decent. I don't like the "Netflix look" it has. I don't like the licensed music. I still prefer the Anderson movies. But this... this is a legitimately kind of decent TV show, and Season 2 could have some real potential. The first half of the show feels like it was less polished than the second. It's #1 in the US right now, but I dunno if it'll keep people engaged.
Also, this show is Spider-Man 3 Evil Peter Dance levels of camp. I cannot believe people are downplaying that. This show is moronic, and it knows it's moronic. The scene of Evelyn dancing is peak moronation. And people think they're clever saying, "Oh, it's cringe." It's not cringe, it's immensely moronic, and the characters all know it's moronic. Don't be a frickwit. Anon is kind of right. So the 2022 stuff is the OG show. The 2036 stuff was added using a second pitch for a Final Chapter spinoff with Alice cameos. There's no Alice cameos in S1, but you might get them in S2. The problem is that the 2036 plotline is less engaging, and less unique. The 2022 scenes have a really unique aesthetic. I'm a huge fan of the movies, obviously, but I think that they made a mistake with the future scenes because they dilute what the show is doing that is unique to add an inferior copy of what the movies did well.

The sheer number of people who refuse to understand that this show is satirical is mindblowing to me. It makes me realize that a lot of people are just fricking stupid. Does anyone else feel like this show's reception is different to Bebop? Like, with Bebop we all agreed that it was a lame version of the anime with no redeeming factors. But with this show, it's like... it's not the best, but it seems like lots of people like aspects of it. I remember a lot of shitposting about Reddick as Wesker, but that has largely died out. The man is totally fine as Wesker. Very menacing, understated performance paired with some absolute ham with the OG Wesker shows up in his fricking leather outfit and sunglasses. This show is hard to hate. It sometimes feels like I'm not the target audience, but it's no Bebop. The hate against it feels very forced. The review bombing feels very desperate. The hate on social media doesn't feel organic. It feels like a very specific set of people with the same talking points. I've questioned some of these people on twitter about "So what is actually wrong with the Zootopia joke?" and it's like talking to a robot. They just start ranting about how it's "woke", and posting GIFs. The show isn't woke. It just isn't. Evelyn has a wife, but that isn't woke in 2022. That's just vanilla shit.

What more do you need? Tapes of Lisa Trevor and the G virus, name drops of birkin and reports of raccoon city being nuked heavily implies that RE 1, 2 & 3 happened. The CEO lady being the daughter of James Marcus and mentioning he was forced out implies RE:0 happened. Original Wesker being in full leather and having super powers as well as mentioning the exact way he died in RE5 confirms that game happened. The only thing that isn't mentioned is 4. Nothing in this show contradicts the games up to 5.

The RE show is an adaptation of both the games, and the films. A lot of people inexplicably ignore the films. They are a huge, huge part of RE, and this show takes a lot of influence.
Actually, the RE games have a rule against cloning plots. C-virus Ada Wong copies are fine, though. The Wesker clone plot and the whole rapid aging thing? That feels film inspired. The zombies are film inspired. Very similar to the zombies in Resident Evil: Extinction. The whole angle the show has about Jade looking for signs of sentience feels like a mix of I am Legend and Umbrella trying to use Alice's blood to make zombies sentient again so they can use them for cheap labour.

That's still ambiguous. The timeline of the outbreak may span years. There's a 14 year gap between 2022 and 2036. They can write it any way they want in S2.
The writers could have had Billie revealed in the last episode and not show her at all.
