tbh I just judge him by his acting, like voice changes and shit and he's good at it. I feel like I'm watching a real person.

I've always thought the phantom thread was a sort of parody of DDL. He thinks he suave and has a shit ton of taste, but when he's shown interacting with others he's a cringey, pretentious sleaze... and not in a good way. Imagine the gay shit he'd tell you about the meaning of his tattoos, speaking softly a few inches from your face as he runs his fingers down his arm tracing them, saying "these are some of the oldest symbols known to man. This one was discovered in a cave on Easter Island that's flooded for 11 months of the year by the tides, this is one from the caves at Liseaux which really mist be observed by the firelight, the flickering of which seems to bring the images to life... have you been? An actor's art is just as primal. I lived as a primitive for years in the wilds of New England hill country as a trapper, a mercenary, a guide..." until you realise he's talking his 6 months shooting Last of the Mohicans. He dresses exactly like a 19-year-old.model from Ssense. He's ridiculous. I'd rather hang out with a queer perfume salesman who works on commission and has a coke habit, were I looking for someone more authentic and less unctuous.
