According to a variety of influencers and superfans (including some highly respected Tolkien scholars) the footage is pretty fricking cool. Cinemaphile srsly needs to get itself together and go on in for the big win as a team on this.

Can elves and humans have babies together? What about elves and orcs or elves and dwarves?
>Can elves and humans have babies together
Yep and since orcs are derived from elves they could probably breed with elves/humans too, infact there were some half orcs in LOTR
Dwarves is unknown, probably not because they are kind of went through a separate creation route from elves and men
>Can elves and humans have babies together?
Take a look at that mongrel Elronds family tree.
>On the other hand the act of procreation, being of a will and desire shared and indeed controlled by the fëa, was achieved at the speed of other conscious and willful acts of delight or of making. It was one of the acts of chief delight, in process and in memory, in an Elvish life, but its intensity alone provided its importance, not its time or length: it could not have been endured for a great length of time, without disastrous “expense”.
>But the act of procreation not being one of growth until the union of the seed and being under full control of the will does not take long -- though it is longer and of more intense delight in Elves than in Men: too intense to be long endured.
-The Nature of Middle Earth
wait, are you saying there's Tolkien validity to the hentais I jerk off to where the female elves are fricked into madness?
It affects the man too, so you get mutual mindbreak
Cant wait to laugh at webms of how moronic this will be with my fellow Cinemaphile bros. Also she looks too trashy to play galadriel tbh
>too trashy to play galadriel
She has a recessed maxilla rat face. Not sure how she got the role unless she's good at sucking dick
rude
She looks a bit like Betty Gilpin here.
who stole her breasts?
Does Galadriel need big booba?
If there on a thick build like this, yeah. If she were a tall slender elf, however, breasts would have been optional.
She needs to have breasts at least. No amount of pictures is going to change our mind about her not being attractive enough
Smaller breasts are still hot (just in a different more taboo way) They just need to have nice shape and not sag. Also nice nipples is good too
>small breasts
>taboo
are you by chance Australian?
>stubby arms
>fat hips
>short legs
She was cast as the dwarf queen but then they went diversity and had to move her to a different role.
>fat hips are bad
r you gay m8
>fat hips on an elf
>short legs on an elf
>stocky build
>on an elf
Not Galadriel material. You can keep her for all I care.
>stocky build
It's because of the role, they made her put on weight for it. She was always very skinny before she took this on
So you're saying they intentionally ruined her shape to fit less as an elf? Yeah, that fits with everything else they're doing. It's not stupidity, it's malevolence.
Galadriel's pre-casting character description said that the role would 'require a strong physical component' and the actress has talked about all the physical activity she's been doing and how she has always just being super skinny all her life
They basically put her on a female appropriate bulking program
They bulked a 5'3'' womanlet.
Easier to achieve when they are shorter
She's going to be doing a range of action, not just fighting but climbing, riding, swimming, etc
They obviously wanted her to be more competent/convincing at these kind of things but also probably a case they didn't want her to look quite so stik
Elves are supposed to be stick, not squat. Tall, not short. You're making excuses, not addressing the issue.
Im not making excuses, im explaining the reasoning. They wanted to do action Galadriel and they wanted the actress to do as much of it as she reasonably could so that's why she put on the weight and did loads of training for the role.
She was not going to convincingly swing a sword around or scale a wall with her 2019 twig arms.
Explaining reasoning behind bad decisions are excuses. It doesn't make anything right.
Holy wood always like small people easier to fit in frame. They can use camera angles and shit to hide it. Same reason they like manlets. They are about the same heights as the women so they match on camera.
God, I hate thiccBlack folk and shortstackgays. At least stick to your own characters. Don't ruin established tall, slender beauties.
based and correct
Lovely feet
>here's your most beautiful elf in existence, bro
That build would be great for book Galadriel, she's supposed to be besting the greatest athletes among elves of Valinor in physical contests, which requires strenght and thiccness packed on her 6'4'' frame
What did that supposedly even happen in? Book of lost tales 19? Cause it wasn't the silmarillion. Or unfinished tales.
>isn't in unfinished tales
Yes it is
Look man im just saying that I like how she's described in those two paragraphs, ok?
>no source
Oh, sorry carry on then. It's actually a shame that Christopher ended up cutting most of her lore from Silmarillion.
Being "tall and strong" in Tolkien's books means being great, all the early elves in the Silmarillion were abnormally "tall and strong" to show how great they were. And strength was usually in reference to perseverance and fortitude rather than physical feats. Which would be suitable for the bearer of the "Ring of Adamant".
Galadriel's comparison is explicitly to the greatest athletes among the Elves of Valinor, no other early elf character is given such praise and Galadriel and Fëanor are explicitly referred to as "the greatest of the Eldar of Valinor" so it's not like she's getting some generic praise.
Even in LotR it's mentioned she's as tall as her hubby who's the nephew of Thingol, the original king of Teleri and Sindar, and the tallest Elf or Human character at 9'.
>Galadriel's comparison is explicitly to the greatest athletes among the Elves of Valinor
*in their youth
If you're going to use semantics you can't pick and choose what to interpret, sure she was a tomboy but that doesn't mean she was a warrior
The bodies of the Eldar are in fact strongest in their youth. Tolkien did not use that word to refer to children.
Eldar=first elves
Strength=diminishes over time
Eldar thus, diminish over time in strength
"Eldar were strongest in their youth"
Thus strength and youth is not a literal interpretation, semantics is moronic, learn to read
Eldar are not "first elves", they're the ones who went to Valinor. In their youth as a people called Eldar, the Eldar were a bunch of adult 1st gen immigrants.
>Eldar are not "first elves"
yes they are
The term is only used for the migrants to Valinor during Galadriel's lifetime, and the ethnonym for first elves was Quendi (or actually Kwendî in proto-Quenyan).
>the migrants to Valinor
yes, the first ones, and thus the "greatest" in stature and will because they spent the longest with the Valar, meaning also the longer they stay away the weaker they get. Thus Eldar = Diminishing strength over time, strength isn't literal.
The weakening doesn't happen until they are at third part of their life cycle, and Galadriel's age is nearing that only at the end of the Third Age - which is why her destruction of Dol Guldur seems magical and uses same terminology as Luthien's destruction of Tol-in-Gaurhoth.
you're moronic, strength has nothing to do with physical strength, it's their connection to the world's Gods which is both innate and supercharged with their physical relation to the Gods. The strength of elves "failing" is not their physical strength, it's because they desire to rekindle their connection to the Gods as their journey to middle earth severed the connection, they're like vessels of divine spiritual power, that is their "strength". Galadriel being exceptionally "strong" means she's a more perfect representation of God's creation, she's a larger vessel and it's because of this that she's one of the last Eldar elves still in middle earth, because she can withstand the drive to return to Valinor the longest
K... Fëanor being the strongest of the Noldor just kind of shows both Eru and the Valar are a bag of dicks, which comes back to the ever true reality that Fëanor was right all along and did nothing wrong.
Elu Thingol was the greatest in stature (tallest) of the Children of Iluvatar and he only got about one hour in Valinor before doing a 360 and walking away
again that's from unpublished stuff
Yeah I think the only females of the few who actually go to war on Tolkien's works are actually ordinary women, not Elves. Still, technically, female Elves are just as capable of being warriors as the males, I seem to remember that essay of Tolkien about Elvish culture, and he mentions the females have the same body strength as the males, they just don't go to war.
They stay home, make lembas and frick?
They also impart wisdom on weary travelers.
>"...she grew to be tall beyond the measure even of the women of the Noldor; she was strong of body, mind and will, a match for both the loremasters and the athletes of the Eldar in the days of their youth
-History of Galadriel and Celeborn which is in Unfinished Tales (part 2)
By the looks of it the actress actually put some work in because her upper body is quite a bit bigger than just prior to her going to NZ. Some of it will also be general weight gain but she looks much better for this kind of role now than when you compare her to older pictures.
>actress actually put some work in
Where at the all you can eat buffet?
Yes that's how you put on weight, by eating more. If you want to get the more stocky look then do the right exercise + eating more should get you there
Pretty simple
Except she forgot the exercise part.
Those fat upper arms
She just didn't cut because functionality doesn't require it. Honestly the veiny dry look isn't good on women anyway.
She's not trying to be a bodybuilder, its not for the sake of muscle definition. It's to gain some mass, not be so much of a twig and be better at doing the upper body activities her character will be doing
Of course she will gain some fat when eating the extra food, everybody does when they are training like that

As much as I utterly despise Amazon "modernizing" Tolkien's world, I have to admit that the production design looks great. It's cool seeing an earlier age of Middle-earth brought to life, and the costumes and locations look fantastic. Obviously, this is because of how much money was put into this. It's a shame that the writing and character portrayals will be shit.
Could an orc frick a female human. The mother would have to raise the abomination. I wonder given how mongrelised the anglosphere is whether this would be a viable subplot? I could imagine it resonating with many Britishb women.
>Could an orc frick a female human
Rape is implied a lot in the LOTR actually , the Uruk Hai are implied to be products of rape and a lot of tht untrustworthy "Southrons" are implied to be disgusting half man half orc mongrels too. Tolkien even goes into racist detail about how they are slanty eyed mongoloids top which is even more hilarious.
Can you give me some spicy quotes?
There are no quotes, Tolkien isn't GRRM
Why does her armor around the thighs area have scaled patterns but is not actually scaled?
I've been living under a rock for the past few months. Can someone tl;dr me on what we know about RoP so far without memeing too much?
It's just for the photoshoot, she wont be wearing that in the actual show
>Can someone tl;dr me on what we know about RoP so far without memeing too much?
What kind of things do you want to know? its a pretty broad question without knowing what you already know
They made such a detailed suit just for a photoshoot? I guess people can do stupid shit like that when the budget is unlimited
Let's see. I know about the insane budget, the era that it's supposed to take place in and that it's going to be on Amazon. Basicly some shit we knew before the whole covid thing and nothing else
Depends on your LOTR/Tolkien knowledge but will give a bit of an overview
There will be 6 main realms for s1
>Lindon
>Eregion
>Khazad-dum
>Numenor
>Rhovanion
>'southlands'
Sundering Seas will also be regularly travelled
The main characters are going to be Galadriel and Isildur/Elendil, though likely more so Galadriel and she will be getting her own prologue including scenes of her in Valinor, stuff with her brother and undoubtedly some more. Expect her to get the highest amount of screentime.
Other important characters are the ones you would expect for this time period so Elrond, Gil-galad, Celebrimbor, Durin 3rd and 4th, Pharazon, Tar-Miriel.
They invented a bunch of OCs too but they are mostly in Rhovanion and the southlands.
They also invented an OC villain for S1 who gathers scattered groups of orcs together and starts causing trouble in the southlands, raiding villages and such. Sauron they will save for later and they will probably play up the whole mystery of who he is considering he can still shapeshift at this point
I've read the books a few times over the years.
I am mostly interested in casting choices, story accuracy, production levels etc. Basicly, I'm asking if it looks to be better than the movies released so far since those were not very satisfying.
Just to clarify, I'm not saying I hated the movies, adaptation of such volumes is hard and some elements were awesome.
Also, ill do my own research on it soon, hence asking for a lt;dr now and not any more specific questions.
Thanks for taking the time to answer by the way.
>production levels
They haven't exactly released much so far, end of July will be the trailer release and when they actually start showing something substantial. Here are a collection of images though, most of which were from last month's Empire magazine
Are most sets in new Zealand again?
Everything for s1 was filming in NZ, approximately 30% was on location and pretty much the rest was on set. They built extremely large sets for Numenor and Khazad-dum in particular, which they haven't shown anything of yet.
Production is moving to the UK for S2 onwards
Half of those pictures look good, the other half give me a feeling there is something off.
I really hope they don't frick this up.
did they hire all the out-of-work GoT CGI artists?
Idk who worked on GoT but CGI for this show was Weta, ILM and The Third Floor

You have an intellectual inferiority complex and are probally a chippy oike. Tell me how I know you follow soccer you Black person pleb?
Good morning, sir!
There's plenty to study in Tolkien, his work is generally the domain of dorks, but it is not shallow in any way and Star Wars is in no way comparable either. There's good storytelling in SW here and there, it's got some ideas, but they're on different levels. So yes, considering many scholars have done academic work on Tolkien from different angles, there are people who can be considered "Tolkien scholars", not Star Wars though.
I think Tolkein said that his purpose was to create the definitive mythology of Anglo-Saxon England, like what King Arthur is for Celtic Britain. That's kind of how he saw LOTR.
Yeah you're right, absolutely, that's how he saw it.
Meh, I'll take back the idea that there wouldn't be something like a "Star Wars" scholar since Lucas' filmmaking was so important for that medium, still, I hope what I mean is understandable. I do think what the OP posted is israelite cuckery meant to convince you to watch and completely false.

JRR Tolkein was friends with CS Lewis, but eventually their friendship came to an end. One reason was theological differences (Tolkein was a Catholic and Lewis was an Anglican). Another reason was because Tolkein could not stand Lewis's wife, who was israeli and liberal.
Gonna need some ahnenerbe-tier proof on that sexy race conscious bro?
They talk about it here. Lewis married this israeli woman and Tolkein couldn't stand her.
Tolkein patriotic and nationalistic but not for Britain per se. What he loved was Anglo-Saxon England. He also loved Norse mythology.
He also was part German on his dad's side.
>According to a variety of influencers and superfans

Also series doa for not paying attention to world building by casting people who don't fit into the lore, even this thread conspicuously omits posting the black elf.
I feel sorry for everyone else involved but the series is already garbage before it leaves the starting gate. Will only watch to trash.
Tolkein and Lewis were both very much aware of the Satanic transhumanist agenda and the depopulation agenda amongst the Oxford elite. Even back then, this ideology prevailed amongst the academics. Lewis warned about it in the Space trilogy. The main villain is based on Bertrand Russel, an evil, atheistic priest of "science" who essentially is a Luciferian who wants to bring humanity into a new age.

I will not watch this if there are blacks whose origin is any further north than far Harad.
It's been ages since I've read Silmarilion. Does Galadriel do anything in the book? I don't remember her having any significance.
She has some interactions with Feanor, and joins him in his rebellion against the Valar, and journey to the East, since she wants to rule a kingdom of her own. Idiots who complain about "muh yas queen slay" forget/ignore that her biggest flaw - her lust for power/rule - is what led her to Middle-Earth in the first place.
Will it be portrayed as a flaw?
I think so. The Noldor are absolutely classic Greek heroes - larger than life, but always with a tragic flaw or two.
I'm also very, very curious whether Amazon will take advantage of the fact that Feanor's only surviving son is completely unaccounted for - he disappears from the Silmarillion once he gets rid of the israeliteel in his possession, and is confirmed to be still in Middle-Earth. The guy would be a powerhouse equal to, or even surpassing, nearly every human/elf/dwarf character.
Who are the African elves? Are they from Far Harad? Are the African Dwarves from Far Harad too?
Shills, I know you are here. Confirm there are no northern blacks and I will buy an Amazon prime sub to watch this show.
What lovely little boobas.
Yes probably, they will also display he pride as a flaw and use her love for her (formerly alive) brothers as a way to trigger her.
They are doing 'PTSD Galadriel' apparently, still hurting from losing her family and homelands
That and that she was never described to have ever done a single thing after calling feanor out
There are some important bits she is included in but all in all not that much
But that book is pretty much what Christopher decided on including out of all the different writings of his father. Outside of the Silmarillion she does alot more, Unfinished Tales has a pretty sizable section about her history but its a bit of mess still, especially in the 2nd age.
The real reason she doesn't seem to do that much in the 1st age is because her character was created after Tolkien wrote most the events. So instead of rewriting large parts of the story he just said she spent much of her time in Doriath with Melian, under the excuse that she could tell that the wars against Morgoth was pointless without the Valars help.
*TINK TINK TINK*
GENTLE-ELVES, I HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE!
FRICK HARFOOTS!
I think we broke the shills, guys. They're not making any sense anymore.
Explain. Makes perfect sense to me "superfabs and influencers" anon wants everyone on board for the meme bantz
Did Tolkeen ever write about who did this?
see
He was a linguist, not a prophet.
1st age Galadriel is based just for these two paragraphs alone
Disingenuous, there's a lot more about her even on that page never mind the chapter
Of course there is more to her. He never made a claim to the contrary.
>rape of their ships
weird, this is normally the fandom's job.
>female demigod character has strong will
And?
i dont care about "tolkien scholars", they just gobble up anything tolkien related. Its gonna be shit. We all know that
>shill campaign is entirely focussed around getting the coomer audience from galadriel
truly tolkiens vision come to life
Yes.
Actually he should have kept Meássë in latest drafts and made her Galadriel's senpai in Valinor.
Prove that Tolkien hated blacks? Anyone?
Shills refuse to answer why there are so many blacks. Is it all set in far Harad and Umbar?
In the show the blacks are generally in the south and east, but in Rhovanion and 'southlands' which is probably on the edge of Harad
Oh there is that one black female dwarf in Khazad-dum but shes almost certainly an immigrant from further afield
Numenor is going to be mulit-cultural-ish by the look of things
Rhovanion is essentially Russia though? Geographically, that is. Black people would get rickets up there without vitamin D supplementation. Makes no sense.
Shouldn't the Numenoreans just be one race/genetic group? "Numenorean blood" is important after all.
If they were based they would lean into it.
The black characters in Rhovanion are travelling for some reason, idk where from or to but that's where they are at the start of the show.
They could have come from further south
Ok, I see. Thank you shill.
they can't because blacks were shoehorned into the story. they may make some kind of flimsy back story based on feedback but it'll still feel inauthentic because it is.
it's going to be shit and quite frankly extremely racist.
LOTR, is in the future. no black hobbits, elves or people outside MENA in ROTK as Haradrim.
we go back in the past and lo there are black hobbits, dwarves and elves. Was there a genocide? must have been because they don't exist in future middle earth.
is that the message Amazon is trying to send?
they don't give single frick about the world Tolkien created. they could have made a great story focusing on the Harad but instead they choose to do the very uncreative choice of shoehorning diversity into middle earth instead of focusing on in world diversity.
don't care I will never watch it because it's an abomination, no matter how much money Bezos throws at production no matter how many shills and "experts" they hire will ever make me watch it.
evil cannot create
This anon is almost based.
I don't outright hate the sight of blacks in general but I hate forced diversity.
if the morons making the show knew even the slightest about middle earth they would know they have the potential to make their woke shit without sullying Tolkien's world.
Umbar is ruled by the black Numenoreans, they're white. they're called black because they're fallen.
cruel and evil white people ruling over poor down trodden POC.
it's paint by numbers at that point.
they can have most of their shitty propaganda, it would retcon and shit up the world. it'd even make sense in world.
I fricking hate these arrogant crayon eaters.
Yes this is true. I am personally tired of seeing black people in general now. Irl and on screen.
forced diversity and blackwashing everything has created a general fatigue in most. films before current year had diversity but it wasn't nearly as hamfistedly forced and nobody cared.
now it's just a sign of a terrible show.
Great game.

I wouldn't even then, just find webms of the hot parts (there won't be any, look at the fricking cast...)

I don't like this. No I don't like this at all. Depicting elves in such a way. It's just wrong. Elves should be sort of ethereal and other worldly. They should not be portrayed in this vulgar way. It's totally wrong. It's a sin what they have done here. It's a sin.
Sad for you anon. You're living to see something you love controverted.
Yeah I agree, still want to see that dicky though.
these type of tolkien experts liked it? the one's who liked the WOT show? Oh nononono..... Only thing you need to know about rings of bezos ass tv show:
They have the rights to the LOTR books, hobbit and appendices. Thats right, only new material is 40-50 pages of appendices going over 3441 years of material. They do not have the rights to unfinished tales or silmarrilion (which christopher tolkien said they never would get). They don’t have enough material by design, they are only making this appendix adaptation because of the name value. Only making it because by construction there is 50 pages of historical esque writing in the appendices, so to fill the time they will add propaganda. This isn’t an adaptation. You don’t adapt a fricking appendix of a book. You can’t adapt a fricking appendix of a book, it isn’t even possible.
They are 50 interesting pages. The Second Age is the least defined, I don't know if that's meant on purpose or Tolkien just never went as deep in them. To be clear, I don't remember if any of the History of Middle Earth books are about the Second Age, maybe I'm wrong. But it still means you have the most opening to write stories in them. It's not a bad thing. The problem is Bezos is a billionaire butthole and the shit that is gonna be pushed is not going to be good storytelling, that's why it's bound to be shit, not because it's an appendix.
Silly anonses doesn't trust Mr. Bezos! AAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH
Actually I was wrong, there are only 10 pages in the appendix of lotr that they have. Not 50.
Don't care. Sledging politics into it ruins the actual message of what the series is about and makes it hobbit tier cartoonish
Are normies finally starting to turn against this kind of thing anons? I know this one guy who is very liberal and even he thinks that this shoehorning modern diversity into Tolkein's universe is total bullshit.
when they inevitably kill every fictional world created with soulless reboots I'm sure there will still be articles saying "and that's a good thing"
They'll never kill them as long as we're alive. We have this lifetime to fix things anons.
Hopefully, but if they do then we'll have to find something else to be contrarian about.
NOGGITSES?!
This better not be from some ungodly R34 some coom-brain put out, I'll fricking kill you anon.
Whats is R34s precious?!
Ah it's from that fricking AI piece of shit isn't it. Jesus it's unironically over.
What is r35 tho?
I'm ready for midget Cersei Lannister knockoff negress.
Basically I'm just not going to watch it (the show).
What do you guys think?
I'm certainly no Christopher Tolkien, but still I tried to construct a narrative, where the Last Version abruptly ended; using mainly the Lost Tale, and both the Quenta Noldorinwa and its refined version, which is present in The Silmarillion.
Still needs works. Some excerpts may have the need of changing their tense to fit properly, such as:
>The Curse of Mandos now [hastens] to (etc.)
Also be more careful with what you write of your own and do not diverge much from what's already there. Some other minor things might be reworked, or reworded for homogeneity, but overall it's on a decent path.
Does Galadriel get ORC'D in this series? If not I am not watching
You are not funny.
So is she getting ORC'D or not?
frick off
So she's getting ORC'D. I'm in, bro. Can't wait to see Galadriel impregnated by a big green mean elvish breeding machine.
What would you like to see scene wise? How do you imagine it would go?
No matter how much you shill, it'll be a megaflop.
I don't know why they're depicting galadriel as a young warrior considering that she's already thousands of years old and more akin to her LOtR appearance at the time of the second age
