I read the novelization of the Death of Superman arc when I was like 7 and enjoyed the actual Superman v. Batman comic arc that had Superman as a zogbot (of course that's something that would have to be built up to, something the DCU refused to do while blowing it's load only to produce a series of dry cums). Snyder turned in something less than the source material.

I thought BvS was trash when I saw it in theaters. When I saw the Ultimate Edition or whatever they call the director's cut, I thought it was kino. Only parts I really don't appreciate are the Flash dream and the rushed, video in browser intros for the rest of the Justice League.

I read comics as a kid and enjoyed DC far more than Marvel. DC could never work as a CU because it's best when it does short run stories that revolve around archetypal characters. Marvel has always been interconnected melodrama shit that lends itself to something like a CU.

Most capeshit movies treat their climactic battles like minor inconveniences in the sequels. “Hey remember when you destroyed half of a major city?” BVS has the right idea exploring the aftermath of a live action DBZ battle. Just executed poorly.

            Anonymous

This is a myth. A lot of the big fights in DBZ conveniently happen in wastelands in the first place. There's one time Goku says to move the fight out of a city and you know what happens? Dr Gero levels the place with his eye beams. When Goku fought Piccolo he didn't try to get him off the island. He deliberately fought him at a Martial arts tournament where Piccolo, of course, levelled the place.

Building the foundation of the DCEU on Man of Steel was a massive mistake. The worst thing is that MoS wasn't that bad but it made a lot of stupid choices that wouldn't have made for a compelling universe outside of evil Superman (which from BvS and ZS's JL, that was stupidly the plan).

Despite how mediocre MoS was it seemed promising but ultimately was probably the biggest waste of potential in recent memory, maybe even more so than the SW sequels.
Even TDKR was better than anything that came out the last 10 years. I'd rather they move more to standalone stuff but they're going with a new universe, and probably after 1 or 2 movies in that underperformed the studio will 'course correct' again

    Man of Steel
Extended cut of BvS, I still think it’s a very uneven film due to studio meddling but it has its moments and is still better than any Marvel movie past the first Iron Man
Justice League Snyder Cut for absolutely vindicating Snyder’s vision for these films and proving what absolute morons the suits at WB were for not just getting out of his way and letting him do his thing, also a sad glimpse into what could have been
Gunn Suicide Squad and Peacemaker were fun
Shazam was a great throwback to high-concept 80’s comedies like Big

Everything else was various shades of shit though, let’s be honest. Ayer Suicide Squad was a wounded animal of a film, Wonder Woman and Aquaman were passable but WW84 was unwatchable and supposedly Aquaman 2 is shaping up the same way, Birds of Prey was execrable, Shazam 2 was lacklustre and Flash was awful beyond reasonable measure.

I saw Man of Steel when I was 13, Cavill has been Superman in the public consciousness for 10 years. People erupted in cheers at the post credits scene of him in Black Adam. This was Superman's universe, everyone else was just living in it. The more they diverted from the somber realism of Man of Steel the worse the films got. And that's why Superman Legacy will likely not succeed, they said frick you to the public, Cavill is no more because some exec didn't like his attitude. And now we're going to try to copy Marvel for with the bright colors, happy tone and jokes because that's worked out great for us before.

They laughed because his Batman was stupid and his cameo is a joke, both of which were true.

The original claim that you said never happened was people cheering at his cameo when they did.

the original claim, since it didn't specify, implyed that that was a gneralized phenomenon. And that's just a moronic claim.

Unironically how do I cope with the fact that the Snyderverse will never be restored I was listening to a synopsis of justice league 2 and 3 and it sounded like it would’ve been the most mind blowing cinema in years

      >most mind blowing cinema
Did people pretend to like them as a joke only to have a bunch of total morons take the praise seriously and unironically adopt faux-pseud language of their praise as if it were serious? I avoided Snyder threads but I want to ask if the same thing happened with the DCEU as with the Star Wars prequels.

I’m willing to give James Gunn a chance because I enjoyed guardians of the galaxy and part 3 was surprisingly pretty sad and not overly goofy but I understand what people here are getting at the Snyder edge won’t be there the Snyder movies took themselves and super hero mythology very seriously the James Gunn movies might get you in the feels but they’ll be crowd pleasers without the epic feel and I guess you could say melodrama of the Snyderverse

Gunn is such a fricking moron. He had the perfect Superman and fired him out of spite. But he knows he was perfect so he hires an actor that looks as close to him as possible. It's so fricking petty. Can't wait to see his shit movies fail.

None. DCEU Clark Kent and Batfleck are literally the worst.

Batman movies peaked with the Nolan trilogy, Superman peaked with Smallville/Superman returns

Maybe it’s because I grew up watching Smallville but I don’t understand people’s obsession with Cavill as Superman. Sure he had the build, but he always came across as too European and sinister looking to play the part. The baldness didn’t help
