Rise of the Beasts

I don't think this was as good as the Bumblebee movie was but it's still a 6/10 it was ok kind of movie with good fights. I felt the like pacing was all over the the place and some scenes didn't feel connected at all. It's annoying that the only Maximal that gets siginifigant screen time and characterization is Primal but that's par for the course for Transformers movies sadly. Especially because they only transform one time and poor Airazor dies before she can transform. I liked Mirage, him becoming a powet suit for Noah was cool. I thought Noah was decent human protag but him coming to help the Autobots and Maximals feels kinda rushed. Also the post-credits sequel bait totally got me, I love GI Joe too much to care how out of nowhere it is. It wasn't bad and I'm interested to see where they go from it, but it wasn't the best. Hell I'd argue the first Bayformers was better just because it's story was straight forward.

Idk why prime is such a b***h in this movie.

I don't mind it necessarily as long as what comes after shows him growing more to become a defender of sapient life. I thonk they're trying to play into the angry jaded Optimus from the Bayformers movies but they wanted to give him a reason to be cyncial about humanity because of Bee's temporary death, which I have no qualms spoiling because there was no fricking way Hasbro would ever let their moneymaker die unless a timeline was ending.

I thought the power suit thing was really dumb, I was absolutely sure he was gonna become a head/powermaster or something instead. Also if they weren't gonna let Chalk play primal they should've at least given him the pity cameo as apelinq.

I do think would have been more fun.

      >rise of the beasts
      >these are the human characters
      indeed

How can you day they're rising if they're at the bottom of the poster? I'm just glad they still let the real stars of these movies have most of the poster space instead of trying to push more humans. Hopefully this stays the case when they start rolling GI Joe into the movies.

They're rising as in taking roles away from less bestial humans.

Movie was kind of ass to be honest.
Most of the cut stuff feels more interesting than what we got (Transit, Mirage permanent death, Nemesis Prime tease, etc) and the end result just feels like it had every edge sanded down from it.
Hope the next one is better at least, though given the stuff in Hollywood right now and the movie apparently underperforming I wouldn't even count on it happening.

      >we got cucked out of Nemesis Prime
Dammit. The cut opening with Transit looks awesome too.

Fricking b***hass test audiences didn't like it because it showed Prime dumping Transit's body into the Hudson River on top of more dead Decepticons. If they'd kept this scene in it would have helped contextualize why he's so cynical in the movie. He's been soloing Decepticin death squads for years.

        >Fricking b***hass test audiences didn't like it
Aside from Transit, if my memory serves me right that's the same reason Nemesis Prime was cut.
Optimus was supposed to get sucked into the portal void, and there was going to be a scene with Unicron approaching him that'd tease him becoming Nemesis Prime.
If I remember right, it was cut because test audiences wanted a more unambiguously happy ending. I might be wrong though.

I feel like that would have been a much more climactic way for him to boot Unicron back into the portal and set up some drama for the next movies. It still would have had a happy ending.

They just need to get rid of Bonaventura to be honest and get somebody who knows what the hell they're talking about. I can't tell if the guy is senile and not all there or just plain stupid to be honest.

Bumblebees was THIS CLOSE to getting the formula just right and now we’re back into bayformers territory yet again

Hasbro sold their major studio and is stepping back from toys and film in favor of video games. I wouldn't count on any more

Why do they keep making these shitty movies? All of them since Age of Extinction have been box office flops (Bumblebee doesn’t really count in that regard but it still made way less money than the rest of the franchise). Three back to back disappointments in a row surely means people don’t care anymore right?

It was shit. Plot was just a rehash of Rise of the Fallen but with donut steel Fallen replaced with Unicron. Maximals were just there for name recognition and they transformed in the final battle just to transform back to beast mode 10 seconds later. Optimus was racist to humans just so he can learn moral values from Primal for some reason.

Oh cool they made a Beast Wars movie? Can't wait to see all my faves like:

    >Dinobot
    >Rattrap
    >Megatron
    >Waspinator
    >Tarantulas
    >Blackarachnia
    >Rampage
    >Inferno
    >Tarantulas

That was never going to happen. I don't think Hasbro's confident enough in the popularity of Beast Wars characters to allow them to carry a movie of their own without the presence of more easily recognizable "classic" characters.

The frick is the point of a Beast Wars license if you don't use its characters? And if they worried about people not recognising its established characters, why did they use the generic nobodies instead?

I pirated and "watched" it while working on my PC and I still felt cheated of my time. Can't believe there were actually people shilling this movie on /m/ and Cinemaphile back before release.
