>Robyn Byrd liked a tweet about Ren & Stimpy model sheets and that tweet with the supposedly leaked ones from the revival got copyright striked, basically confirming the leak was real
How are we feeling about the R&S revival then? Will it be even worse than the Games Animation seasons of the original show?

here's that tweet btw
Ren and Stimpy with none of the original Spumco guys is a terrible idea
The model sheets look pretty good, so I'm cautiously optimistic. I wish Bob Camp was coming back, though. The fact that he isn't suggests to me that there must be SOMETHING rotten here.
I'm sure it'll be better-written than APC.
Can't personally say much based on this alone. They look like Ren and Stimpy at least, they didn't go full CalArts R&S like people were joking.
I'm pessimistic either way. It's so rare that revivals end up good, I can't imagine one for Ren & Stimpy of all things turns out fine. Especially ones with the original staff basically completely gone, replaced with people who hate John K now. I just can't see them capturing the same spirit as the original show. At best it's going to be a complete retread without good new ideas. I expect it will be worse than Games era, which did have great episodes (mostly the ones started at Spumco).
I wish we knew why he left too. There are probably some people working on the show at least that loved R&S and get what it was going for, but I can't see them nailing it. At best it'll turn out like those new Looney Tunes shorts. Respectable attempts but ultimately forgettable and lacking.
>I'm sure it'll be better-written than APC.
Cartoons aren’t meant to be written, they’re meant to be DRAWN.
Even with them it's been what, 20 years?
Let the dead fricking lie
Apparently Bob Jaques and that Filipino guy from APC are involved
I don't feel either way. For me, bad art ruins shows sometimes, but bad writing always does. The leaks don't tell me anything about the writing yet, and I haven't seen any writing work from Robyn Byrd. What's her filmography outside of Spumco?
#metoo grifters will watch their abortion fail and I'll message everybody involved.
>Waiting for the writing with Ren and Stimpy
Lmao. Name 1 show with good art and bad writing, haven't heard someone do so in over 15 years.
>It should've been me not them
You can't draw for shit Anthony
Ren & Stimpy with bad art/animation wouldn't be Ren & Stimpy. The characters' expressions and acting matters the most. But yeah, I'm concerned about the writing too. I have a feeling they might go for more typical cartoon stories. Can't imagine them writing a scene like the end of Sven Hoek either.
Stop with this "we" shit, moron
Mad just for the sake of being mad.
heh
Background characters are all going to look generic
They are going to cut every single corner
My guess is it'll turn out slightly better than the Animaniacs reboot. Similar problem of not having the old crew on-board. In this case, they might at least try hard to make it like (their idea of) Ren & Stimpy. Which might make some moderately entertaining episodes, but I think it's difficult to create something truly great when you're focusing on recreating something without a good vision of your own. The old show reused characters plenty of times, but something about the Rubber Nipple Salesman Walrus being the first thing we see besides R&S rubs me the wrong way.
Not optimistic about this, but I'm mostly indifferent towards it rather than annoyed. Famous old cartoons have always had multiple reboots through different eras, some good, some bad. John K. himself worked on new versions of The Jetsons, Benny and Cecil, and Mighty Mouse. So R&S getting rebooted like this and maybe getting another 20-50 years from now is just par for the course. It would be amusing seeing people analyzing all the R&S eras in the future if that happens. Not just comparing Spumco/Games/APC, but that along with 2020s R&S, 2050s R&S, etc. But have there been any cases where a reboot decades later is actually better than the original?
>But have there been any cases where a reboot decades later is actually better than the original?
There are, but it's rare. Mighty Mouse was mentioned, and that might be one example. A case where they went in a different direction and it worked out. Then there's good stuff like Beavis and Butthead reboots, but Mike Judge himself is still making those. Even then I don't think either Beavis and Butthead reboot surpassed the original show.
Has any revival of a 90s show not been totally shit yet? So far they all appear to be really bland, boring versions by people that have no idea what the original humor was all about.
>Has any revival of a 90s show not been totally shit yet?
Beavis and butthead. It somehow not only funny but has more touching moments than the original.
Beavis and Butthead is the only one I know. Even then the most recent reboot feels a bit off sometimes (weird mismatching background characters, more mellow Beavis, etc). It's still funny and good though.
Huh
>Will it be even worse than the Games Animation seasons of the original show?
It will make people appreciate APC for at least having a vision instead of just being a corporate product.
What the actual frick happened to Robyn praising Jesus up and down the grassy hills that R&S was cancelled?
Got paid 6 figures and probably took some dick once again.
No way Comedy Central can afford to pay some random artist 6 figures. That's contract work, they look like freelancers.

The pay for these shows are only around $1200 at most, only 20th Century Studios adult sitcoms gets that type of pay and only the voice cast gets that type of money.
I guess they bribed her with the royalties that should’ve gone to John.
Those model sheets are a few years old, they just recently got leaked but they are from 2020.
It’s apparently impossible for most people to get Ren looking good, so the fact that he doesn’t look absolutely god awful here is a good sign.
Stimpy seems a lot harder to frick up, and he looks good here, so. I dunno, I’m sick of reboots and revivals, but nothing I’ve seen looks too bad yet.
why is this taking so long
