Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling

Been 4 years and still mad
>Bring back one of the best NickToons for a tv movie
>Looks and sounds like the original, unlike most of these revivals
>"Trailers" leading up to release was just a scene from the first few minutes of the movie before transitioning into an animated PSA about accepting transgender individuals

The Invader Zim movie was decent, never cared for Rocko but I'm glad we got the Zim movie out of this

      >The Invader Zim movie was decent
Absolutely untrue because it wasn't an Invader Zim movie. It was completely unlike the show in a multitude of ways and is a disappointment as a result.

Yeah, it was weak. Even ignoring the change/trans theme, it was just too short and poorly paced. The first part starts off strong and had potential, but it was a disappointment. Invader Zim movie was much more satisfying.

I still say it would've worked if the story was about Mr. Bighead transitioning instead. Would've been hilarious. Imagine Mrs. Bighead yelling, reminding him to take his estrogen. The plot could've been about Rocko and the guys helping Mr. Bighead regain his masculinity. Through gaming.

The "Actual" plot was about how cartoon reboots are creatively bankrupt, and made by people without any actual affection for the source material and are bad mmmmkay?

Y'know... in a reboot no one forced Joe Murray to take part in.

    >change! accept change! you have to accept change!
    Vague and weak theme.

Forgettable other than the trans plotline.

I get it's updated for "modern" life but Rocko never really dealt with cutting edge social controversy, it was more like "grocery stores are kinda weird"

    >HAHA WHAT IF WE MADE JOKES THAT WERE HORRIBLY OUTDATED EVEN WHEN WRITTEN
    >oh yeah like ironicly since it's so out of date, right?
    >right?...
absurd how tribalism saw it's issues ignored. it wasn't even good 'representaion' either

    >3 guys who are literally straight from the 90s immediately accept a trans person on sight.

    Yeah, I’m calling bullshit.

Reminder that two of those got disgusted by Rocko admitting that he likes rainbows.

tbh plenty of people were trans accepting in the 90s. The Crying Game was a big hit (that also had a number of duddebros making fun of it, including a parody scene in Ace Ventura, sure)

Yeah Invader Zim and Rocko's Modern Life are both examples of creators who have become older, changed into different people, and don't want to make the same things they did when they were young anymore.

        >creators who have become older, changed into different people, and don't want to make the same things they did when they were young anymore.
Then why the frick come back to make the shit they did in the past? If you're gonna get paid to make what you did in the past then don't betray the core essence of what made it good.

They're getting paid, so they're going to do what they want.

    >"I'm not Ralph anymore, I'm... Rachel
    >Few seconds of silence
    >Wow... cool
    >That is awesome
Deep down they knew this was an awkward exchange

They had GLAAD looking over their shoulder the whole time so they couldn't do anything more realistic and/or funny.

I do feel like Rocko and Heffer would be 100% supportive but Filburt would be like the super skepikal humanitrains who says "Male and female has been around for ever, we can pretend men are women"
