I wonder how different the movie would be if it were made after Last Jedi when Disney was 100% certain pandering to China with Star Wars would get them absolutely nothing.
PROS! > Jyn was great & better than Rey. > Diversity is handled well and is not called attention to nor are the diverse characters unlikable spiteful c**ts like in Last Jedi, they are all endearing & likable. > Score is fricking beautiful. > Final battle is entirely great. > Ending from when the Destroyers crash into the Shield generator to the credits is magnificent. > Vader is a fricking beast during his final scene. > Cinematography and choreography are some of the absolute best of the entire series, massively better than Last fricking Jedi. Shots overlooking the planet towards the end are beautiful. > Gaylan's message to Jyn is emotionally effective. > Krennic is a good villain (but not great). Better than the First Order officers in TFA/TLJ.
SUBJECTIVE PROS or CONS! > CGI Tarkin / Leia (I like their inclusion and felt the cgi worked more than not) > Fan service (there is not even fricking close to being as much as haters claim, there is the cameo by the bar thugs, c3po/r2 and the Rebel pilots. That's basically it) > Seems long. > Jumping across locations in the first 3rd (I liked this)
CONS! > Cast is underdeveloped (I personally thought jyn was developed fine) > Mads is underused.
90% of this film is a fricking snoozefest except for the last 30 minutes. It was the first and only time I saw people sleeping in the movie theater during a Star Wars film.
It has been Nostalgia holed.
it's kind of like memory hole, but instead you get dismissed with >Its just nostalgia, it was never good.
Jedi Knight series got double teamed by this flick and that new gay jedi game.
I played it unfortunately. The games were always really bad, and Kyle was more of a joke character than Dash Rendar who was literally written to be a joke character.
There was a lot of good stuff in the old EU, but Kyle ranks up there with Crystal Star for being some of the worst.
> The Force Awakens
Good (remove the death star rehash, rey mind swaying the troopers and show us some of the new republic that our heroes created after the original trilogy and it would be equal with return)
> The Rise of Skywalker
A lesser level of Good (a frick ton of flaws but a lot of good stuff & a non stop fast moving pace)
> The Phantom Menace
Decent (remove jar jar & improve the kid's acting a little and it would be rated as firmly good)
> The Last Jedi
Decent (rise has more numerous flaws but TLJ has more offensive and time wasteful ones)
>The Saddest Death is the Droid's. >Andor NEEDS subtitles, He sounds like a dog with peanutbutter in his mouth. >The friendzone hug at the end was narm.
I've seen porn stars in their early twenties that look 35, people really underestimate what hard living does to you. Jyn was a home vagrant scraping by since she was a little girl, she wouldn't exactly look nubile.
You've just got gay sex on your mind you homosexual. You're in the vacuum of space talking about star wars and all of a sudden gay sex is in your agenda. Black person you're gay
It's not about covering a plot hole, it's about expanding on something unseen. I have no idea how anons come up with such stupid ideas and then repeat them for years.
>plot hole
Not the case at all. The movie is about the “many Bothans died to bring us this information”.
The Bothans were for the second death star, this is the first one.
The thought of Felicity's frickability is one of the few things I remember. The forthright robot was OK I guess. All the plans/exhaust port shit, I didn't care.
All the Star Wars movies are terrible, with the original probably the worst in terms of script, story, and acting. It was entirely (hugely) successful because of the costumes (Darth Vader, stormtroopers), sets and vehicles like the Millennial falcon, or the Tie Fighters or Star Destroyers or the fricking Death Star itself. And of course because of the brilliant score and fantastic special effects. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's the whole that makes a movie. It's just if it hadn't been for the looks and packaging, you might find Star Wars occasionally as a 40 year old VHS cassette at the bottom of a box in a yard sale.
They also had a story involving Luke. Not a great story, but still a story. The prequels and sequels are just CGI filler without meaning and characters.
It was a shit story. You do realize that Star Wars was a standalone film. There was no "To be continued". They saved the day, the bad guy was btfo, and they all got a medal.
Then because of the unexpected massive success they started retconning like there was no tomorrow. What if Darth Vader is actually Luke's dad! What a tweeest!!! And... wait for it... Princess Leia is actually HIS SISTER!!!!! WOAH!!!! WHAT. A. TWIST!!!!!!!!
If this had been made in current year Cinemaphile would have melted down over the stupidity and terrible writing.
The original had no such connection in mind. It was a moronic retcon. But it's become religious icon for neckbeards like you. And religion is not to be questioned.
Nothing you're b***hing about makes any sense. I can't like a story unless it was planned exactly 38 years and 4 months before being told. Anything else is...LE HECKIN CRINGE!
You gape assed homosexuals are getting worse than redditors ever were.
>If this had been made in current year Cinemaphile would have melted down
Is that supposed to mean something? You slack jawed morons have a meltdown over the sun rising each day.
>You do realize that Star Wars was a standalone film. There was no "To be continued"
Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher signed a 3-picture deal with Ford only signing a 2-picture deal. This FACT alone shows you're a dumb frick who doesn't know jack shit.
My weakness is when Imperial stormtroopers (and the Empire) are portrayed as competent. SW writers seem to get a bit too comfortable with their fart sniffing, farts being on the nose in-universe jokes about stormtrooper competence. starwars.com's own databank states >Stormtroopers are elite shock troops fanatically loyal to the Empire and impossible to sway from the Imperial cause. They wear imposing white armor, which offers a wide range of survival equipment and temperature controls to allow the soldiers to survive in almost any environment. Stormtroopers wield blaster rifles and pistols with great skill, and attack in hordes to overwhelm their enemies. Along with standard stormtroopers, the Empire has organized several specialized units, including snowtroopers and scout troopers.
Granted, some of this sounds like intended propaganda for example >impossible to sway from the Imperial cause
yet we've had stormtrooper turncoats but in general it's true that overwhelming majority are fiercely loyal to the Empire
Anyway, RO takes some steps in the right direction by giving red shirts for stormies to blast. For the most part, the movie is good too in my opinion. Showing the world beyond Jedi and Sith
Unexpectedly, Solo takes the next steps by bringing Imperial Army troopers on the big screen even if for only a while.
Then comes Andor, which unexpectedly ended up being very good and very well written and, you guessed it, it took the next steps in portraying stormies and the whole Empire as competent and menacing entity, and establishing Imperial Army troopers even further
My pipe dream of getting a Band of Brothers type of show about stormies in SW became slightly more plausible. However, I'm not holding my breath just yet. There's still a long way to go and boundaries to break. It won't probably happen and if it happens, it most likely won't be about stormies but I'm a bit more hopeful than a year ago, especially after seeing how they portrayed Dedra Meero
That was and still is what I think will prevent them from doing it but I became a little more optimistic after seeing how they portrayed ISB the supposed space gestapo
>YAY THE EMERGENCY SHUTOFF SWITCH IS CONVENIENTLY LEFT OUTSIDE!!!!
No, it's an absolute shit film full of moron logic and only morons love it because sitting through a pile of shit to be rewarded with a few seconds of good Vader footage and you plebians think "its a good moobie!!"
wtf don't you know that having a story in a particular setting being recognizable as that setting is le heckin NOT BASED!? SNEED SNEED KINO CRINGE SNEED! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Return of the Jedi is better, you dumb troony.
I wonder how different the movie would be if it were made after Last Jedi when Disney was 100% certain pandering to China with Star Wars would get them absolutely nothing.
there would be a couple fewer characters thats for sure
>Rogue 1 is the best star wars since star wars 6
i fixed it for you
6 is good but all the ewok stuff is bad.
All the sarlac pit stuff is lame too
PROS!

Frick you.
Correct post
>Mads is underused
Criminally so, I get that they were going for kind of the less-known actors thing but come on, WHAT A LIFE
Makes Godzilla & Star Wars boring.
What fricking hack.
Gen-Xers & Zoomers only pretend to like this because it "looks" like the OT.
people like it because its not jedi shit and just a fun space opera
>fun space opera
90% of this film is a fricking snoozefest except for the last 30 minutes. It was the first and only time I saw people sleeping in the movie theater during a Star Wars film.
did you see Episode II
>Rouge 1 is the best Star Wars
FTFY
Kyle Katarn stole the plans, not this b***h. Nobody ever played Dark Forces?
It has been Nostalgia holed.

fixed
This is the cute, young and sexy 20 year old girl I was telling you about
Wait, wait, are you guys really pretending that Felicity is Ugly? Especially compared to the woke things out there?
>They all die on the tutorial level.

Gen-Xers man.

moron

>>The Saddest Death is the Droid
Chirrut dying was a lot sadder
Jyn was canonically 21 when she died
I've seen porn stars in their early twenties that look 35, people really underestimate what hard living does to you. Jyn was a home vagrant scraping by since she was a little girl, she wouldn't exactly look nubile.
She has teeth like an old goat when she talks
Wrong. You're thinking of episode 3 and if you don't agree with me you don't 'get' star wars
Getting Star Wars is exactly how I know you're both wrong and gay
You've just got gay sex on your mind you homosexual. You're in the vacuum of space talking about star wars and all of a sudden gay sex is in your agenda. Black person you're gay
Before I thought you were wrong and gay. Now I know it.
You drew first gay so you've got gay on the brain. You're a gay bro
Rogue was terrible boring movie that everyone already forgot it even exists.
I don't remember anything about it
yes Alexandra daddarios character is sexy
Rouge 1 has the most stupifying plot, covering a plot hole that doesn't exist.
>plot hole
Not the case at all. The movie is about the “many Bothans died to bring us this information”.
I don't remember anyone saying that ANH had a plot hole. But this is Disney.
It's not about covering a plot hole, it's about expanding on something unseen. I have no idea how anons come up with such stupid ideas and then repeat them for years.
The Bothans were for the second death star, this is the first one.
Agreed. It was also a shit film.

Nice digits

Why wouldn't it be at the equipment in question?
I'd say it was the best of the memberberries era. but really just the final battle was the only part worth watching.
>memberberries
Reddt gay speak
wtf don't you know that having a story in a particular setting being recognizable as that setting is le heckin NOT BASED!? SNEED SNEED KINO CRINGE SNEED! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
it's a pretty low bar to overcome but yes i agree
rogue 1 is shit. It is one of the worst star wars films
