it was kino but I wish they showed much more of erso and krennic's backstory; that short flashback was the best thing out of the disney star wars flicks

The space battle was cool but frick the rest of the movie. NuWars trash that somehow allowed Andor kino to exist

Garth was going to make it a war movie. I like Gilroy's Andor but Rogue One could have been so much better

        >Garth was going to make it a war movie
What could have been, even in Solo the only interesting part was him serving in the army

This. You can tell the switch in directors right before they go to Scarif. Gilroy also removed the awful "I rebel" shit from the first trailer.

Focused too much on “muh tragic backstory” and the biggest “literally who” villain of all time. The real plot didn’t begin until they decided to steal the blueprints for the death star

      >and the biggest “literally who” villain of all time
you know that was intentional, right
he was SUPPOSED to be a literally who
that's what makes him so entertaining, he thinks he's a big shot when he's actually a big not

in an era of missunderstood vilains I liked seeing an 100% twat you just wish to see squashed, hell even Tarkin pisses on him it's funny. Also the camera grain had something "real", only star wars movie that looked like a real war movie

      What?

But yes, watch it. Just do not expect anything to happen in the first half, like OP said.

Somebody post that moronic scene where one ship pushes a star destroyer into another one and cuts the top off somehow

They actually made a proper space battle for the first and last time, and the suicide mission was actually a suicide mission with no copout.

      what's wrong with this scene?
it's been established that she is been a vigilante since childhood, so she beating stormtroopers is not a shocker
and she fricks up at the end by shooting K2SO look-alike, it could have been K2SO
which highlights a character flaw rarely explored in Star Wars media

Bune is hot as always & Krennic is my favorite Star Wars villain ever.

I was indifferent to it when I saw it in theaters but rewatched it recently and was very moved by it. I like The Last Jedi TOO

nah lil homie the "we are what they grow beyond" scene, and Luke choosing to live up to the legend attached to his name instead of self-pitying over his decrepit state are the two most beautiful things in the whole series

          Anonymous

          >and Luke choosing to live up to the legend attached to his name
That would require him actually being there in person and fricking up Kylo personally not pretending to.

            Anonymous

I disagree. He completely and utterly embarrassed Kylo and the first order, showing the world that they are a complete joke, while also giving an epic story to be spread around about him shrugging off such an intense attack from the walkers.

    ROGUE ONE

    PROS!
    > Jyn was great & better than Rey.
    > Diversity is handled well and is not called attention to nor are the diverse characters unlikable spiteful c**ts like in Last Jedi, they are all endearing & likable.
    > Score is fricking beautiful.
    > Final battle is entirely great.
    > Ending from when the Destroyers crash into the Shield generator to the credits is magnificent.
    > Vader is a fricking beast during his final scene.
    > Cinematography and choreography are some of the absolute best of the entire series, massively better than Last fricking Jedi. Shots overlooking the planet towards the end are beautiful.
    > Gaylan's message to Jyn is emotionally effective.
    > Krennic is a good villain (but not great). Better than the First Order officers in TFA/TLJ.

    SUBJECTIVE PROS or CONS!
    > CGI Tarkin / Leia (I like their inclusion and felt the cgi worked more than not)
    > Fan service (there is not even fricking close to being as much as haters claim, there is the cameo by the bar thugs, c3po/r2 and the Rebel pilots. That's basically it)
    > Seems long.
    > Jumping across locations in the first 3rd (I liked this)

    CONS!
    > Cast is underdeveloped (I personally thought jyn was developed fine)
    > Mads is underused.

I liked both this and solo. Only things I didn't like was the shootout on tatooine and the force monk. Had too much personality.

Ah, so you let some pointless Darth Vader cameo fool you into believing it was competently made. Figures.

No. I simply have a modicum of standards for what I enjoy. Pointless "fanservice" is not part of that.

            >movies
            Try "films" instead.
Something like, dunno ... Les Diaboliques, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Nostalghia, Last Year at Marienbad, Witness of the Prosecution are some of my favourites.
Sorry that neither of those are franchise shit to begin with that could even fall into this nostagia bait trap.
