It seems to be the general consensus on Cinemaphile that Pitch Black was pretty good. Pretty good. B+ flick. The creative decision to shift focus away from the planet and the nocturnal creatures there and instead 100% onto the character Riddick was a major mistake. Riddick was cool and all, but he wasn't the reason the first movie was good. It was the fundamental premise. Him having a distinct advantage due to his eyes just added to what made that movie unique.
Chronicles of Riddeck was my favourite. Nice blend of everything that was good about the other movies. The elemental thing was cool.

I was one of those few who thought that Chronicles of Riddick was going to spawn a franchise, and then ended up sourly disappointed, waiting endlessly for sequels that never came, until Riddick came out, and was mildly amusing, but completely rug-swept the previous film's entire premise to erase everything he attained to make him come full circle again to being just another recycled Pitch Black movie.
I've said it before and I'll say it again; Chronicles of Riddick has to be the greatest squandering of blockbuster sci-fi action potential ever put to film.
i think the 3rd one is the best tbh. i hated the weird filters in pitch black. other anons say it was good in theaters but i only ever watched it on my pc.
