for the time it was amazing cgi, people just look at it 5-10 years later and then think it looks like shit. Many scenes still hold up, not all. The tank scene is the best because of the realistic weight they gave the cg props which they don't bother with now. The tech is better now but the artistry is lesser.
there was no MCU-type blueprint for comic book movies so directors were allowed to kind of experiment. hulk has some interesting thematic and visual choices but is ultimately a super dull movie that had a bad script that was rewritten like 3 or 4 times or something
What little I remember from the movie is that the comic-book editing looked fricking stupid, there was barely any action, and Hulk himself was mopey half the time.
The transitions and comic book panels accelerate the movie a lot which is very slow by nature. They are quite effective at upping the rhythm without sacrificing kino scenes.
Hulkino 2003 is one of the best capeshit movies ever. Every piece of it is great. Acting, plot, stakes, composition, music, vfx for a 2003 movie (still better than many modern movies), experimental transitions and effects like the Final fight made with comic book like illustrations, how they portray the curse of being Hulk, villain, the colors, every fricking thing. Its kino of the highest caliber.
The only other movie that experiments to great success with cg and visuals like this one is Speed Racer.
This was one earliest movies to use a full CGI main character into a live action outside Star Wars. I remember people thinking it was a cartoon when the trailers came out. Even people mad they didn’t use a body builder like did in the TV show.
I do know after seeing the making of, action scenes were limited because CGI back then was expensive. Studio had outsource to ILM. Now ever studio has their own in house CGI which is mostly shit
yea, that's not comparable at all. ang lee wasn't using multiple shots to establish concurrent events, nor did he invent it, he was trying to make it look like a comic book.
I moved from bumfrick Nebraska to Miami Florida when I was a kid and Hulk was the first movie I saw in the theater when I moved there. Some black b***h with her two feral sons sitting behind me and my dad kept pounding her Hulk fists together no “ooh yay you Hulk you Hulk!” and it annoyed the frick out of me and ruined the movie.
Sad.
A sailor boomer friend of mine had a similar experience when he landed in Turkey, he went to a cinema and he said every single male started to jerk off in the theater when a hot female showed up on the screen... this happened during communism btw.
>me waking up for another day of wage slaving
>Hulk hits snooze and climbs back into the tank.
>Hulk hits snooze and climbs back into the tank.
Comfy
>You seem to have mistyped the CAPTCHA.
Better CGI than She-Hulk.
Better CGI than any MCU hulk
the workprint had better cgi than she-hulk
Movie x tv show
Ok
RRRRAAARRRGGHH I WANT TO FRICK BLACK WIDOW AAARRRRRHGGH
>AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
>Charlie's Angels
Even if the explosive didn’t bounce off Hulk, that guy was just gonna stand there as it kills and explodes the Hulk?
i remember laughing at this in the theater as a child and I was the only one 🙁 this shit look straight up moronic
me when mom brings me a diet MD
Is that grey hulk or the compression is just fricked?
Just the compression. He's green in the scene:
what the frick are these transitions? picture in picture??? please tell me people got fired
>why does a comic book movie look like a comic?
but yes. it was widely panned.
Ang Lee thought he should imitate comic book panels because he was some hotshot director. He learned his lesson from this one.
Ang Lee got himself fired.
>director actually having some creative vision and making risky stylistic choices?
>YEAH FIREM
>make comic book movie? you mean make rook rike comic book?
experimentation isn't automatically good. experiments, by definition, have to fail sometimes.
>this doesn't look like my regularly programmed visually dead greyed-out goyslop therefore it bad
i mean yeah it's fine to experiment but he probably should've realized it looked like shit and redo it when he was done "experimenting"
filtered
This reminds me of the Hulk rollercoaster at Universal Studios. Great roller coaster btw.
Then why is the background still green
Colors are strange, I work in photography, there are ten thousand things that can alter what we perceive
That sounds like bs
>there are ten thousand things that can alter what we perceive
like a thousand human errors
He magically increased his body volume to the point the pressure in the tank rose so high liquid started to burst out.
Something gamma something
magic is canon in the Marvel universe tho
the transition at 2:35 is so fricking funny
>more british
hahaha
Brutish.
Grey hulk aka "Joe Fixit" is the most kino hulk of all and it's a shame he isn't used more.
>7 feet in height
Christ, Hulk is mogged by half the NBA starters
>less human, more british
jesus christ
More British?
Why did people say the CGI looked bad? It looks better than any modern Hulk

I like when Banner's dad becomes a supervillain too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jv7TlhbjAQ
Ed Norton's hulk looked the best, he was the only scary hulk
I wonder what path MCU hulk would have taken if Norton hadn't burned all his bridges & stuck around
Fun fact:
Ang Lee planned to make him totally naked and do full frontal
No sex scenes but all destruction scenes get full frontal.
NNNOOOOOOMMMMM
BROCK LESNER LOOK OUT OH N-
Pitbull owners.jpg
Fricking lmfao
awww look, he's smiling
they look so happy
i think this might be the only good capeshit movie of all time. batman and robin was pretty funny as well tbh
I miss when the hulk was scary
pic related is still the best hulk and nothing will ever change my mind
Me before bedtime

i don't care what anyone says. this movie is kino.
kino never meant anything
Ang Lee's Hulk was fricking great and I'm tired of having to hide feeling that way.
What little I remember from the movie is that the comic-book editing looked fricking stupid, there was barely any action, and Hulk himself was mopey half the time.
kino
I hate what MCU did to Hulk and I enjoy this movie. Jennifer Connelly has such a pleasant face
what a fricking unit. nu-Hulk looks so fricking onions in comparison
cant believe what a fricking pussy homosexual they turned him into
thats photoshopped right?
looks like the fiona millennial couples combined
i really wish they didn't incorporate so much of Ruffalo's shitty acting and ugly boy face.
Doesn't have a masculine voice either. Nothing you'd want to listen to for two fricking hours.
>wanting to listen to men for two hours
homosexual
He's literally me

He's only saying what we're all thinking.
Ang Lee and his crew deserved a better reception for this film.
yea, that's not comparable at all. ang lee wasn't using multiple shots to establish concurrent events, nor did he invent it, he was trying to make it look like a comic book.
The best tie in merch ever. Kids were beating the shit out of each other with them that some stores pulled them off the shelf
I thought movies cannot cause violence... how would it come to the mind of those kids to larp as a violent giant monster while actually being violent?
Naw, just used them as boxing gloves
Oh I forgot boxing is not violence.

>my dad kept pounding her Hulk fists together
Is this a euphemism?
It always annoyed be that non of the Hulks outside Ruffalo didn’t look like Banner at all.
>Gail the Snail
>John Boyega
24 really was the kinofactory of its time
>Le big angry green dude
Now that i'm an adult, hulk is pretty silly
The greatest cape shit game ever made!! Free roaming as The Hulk and just smashing shit
that gif sucks
This scenario was actually pretty terrifying; paralysed and trapped in a tank in a secret government facility for potentially the rest of your life.
Too bad the government wouldn't do shit like that...
>too bad the government wouldn't do that
You mean, like russian active measures propaganda on the internet, anon?
You never specified which government.
Mentally ill namegay?
>when you get btfo
>have to claim name is why you got btfo as a moronic paid polposter in /tv
...sure, anon...
and are those namegays in the room with you right now? Show me on your anime "girlfriend" pillow where they touched you.
>get btfo
where and about what?
Are you asking me, anon...
or are you asking these "namegays" only you can see & hear that were mean to you?
schizophrenic
Uh oh...
anon is so mad he gonna hulk out on the voices in his head.
>AsSeenOnTV
kys scum
>thinking fascism was the problem and not the solution
