Jaune gets treated like shit. Suffering usually works to get people's favor. It didn't work aswell for yang because when she finished she went from this fun, friskey blond ball busting bombshell to this angry dyke that frowns at everyone.
Everyone gets insufferable really after Monty passes on. It's a shame.
Yang was one of the few okay characters post-canon (walking into Atlas). You just had to get her away from Blake. The side mission she and Jaune ran was excellent because neither character was self-righteous and preachy. They just wanted to get shit done, were self aware they were being angsty and actively tried to reduce the strain they put on other team members.
What could have been...
Except when she blamed Ruby for their falling out with Ironwood, despite her choosing to give away government secrets to Robyn, and later challenged Ren when he rightfully called out how incompetent they’ve all been.
Sure but she was back in the saddle at those points. Also Ruby is more guilty than Yang even if Yang is literally a traitor and saboteur who should have reasonably been executed without trial.
Withholding intel on Salem is just not on especially after her little whinge to Oz. She withholds, Ironwood's shit gets comped in possibly preventable ways if the groups weren't divided and Ruby just blames everything on him (an action worse than shitting on Ren).
The difference is that Yang was cool for a while whereas Ruby just fricking sucks. We can move past some of her moronation with growth. You cannot really walk the hero back after some of their shit, you know?
I don't even know what happened in the final season except Blake kept being shit and people love Jaune more. I'm assuming Weiss was mercifully spared from writer attention and Yang existed to be on display when the show had to remind you it had lesbians?
Because everyone else becomes 2x as bad except for Weiss. At least he is shown trying to improve himself after Phyrra's death but not much else happens until the most recent volume which was a mess.
>writer self insert
Yes, but everyone else is too.
If Jaune is a self-insert, he's a pretty harmless one. People dislike SIs because they tend to be Mary Sues and warp the narrative around them, because it's self-indulgent writer wank. Jaune isn't an especially important character and is frankly allergic to getting a win.
Honestly, I don't care if he's a SI or not, I just want to see the guy get to be cool for a bit.
never forgave that he got 2-3 episodes to himself in season one... before any of the main cast had even one.
there is also the idiocy of him even being there, at a hunter secondary school with zero understanding of anything going on, fricker didn't even have powers, Pyrrha had to unlock the most basic form of them for him.
he should have died as a martyr in the Fall like his rule 63 namesake implied.
Ill admit he served a purpose in those early seasons to explain the setting to the audience (barely, since they did supplementary material for that anyway.) but he outlived his purpose pretty quick and was just a cringey insert for the writer.
That's probably because you didn't have to wait a week just to get two minutes of Jaune getting bullied for several episodes in a row. It's a lot easier to get through that arc when you just tape the V1 episodes together.
Genuinely I don't know how this shit even got popular, now that I look at it again.
It is very clear the writers just had no idea of what they were doing and just threw shit at a wall or mimicked popular shows without knowing why the shows were doing that.
Its probably because everyone else got more annoying
Because people still can outgrow the whole "self-insert" BS.
Also this:

What growth?
HUNT, HUNT, HUNT
Because everyone else becomes 2x as bad except for Weiss. At least he is shown trying to improve himself after Phyrra's death but not much else happens until the most recent volume which was a mess.
So, uh...what was Jaune’s personality again?

Honestly, the main thing that's annoying about him is his voice. Even then, it's not THAT bad outside of Chibi or Ice Queendom.
If they ever revive the IP for whatever, they could just recast everyone.
Honestly, I didn't mind the voice when it was RK Jaune. It's just when Miles is doing the "dorky" voice that it's annoying.

The action scenes.
I will never not be angry
Only yuritrannies hate Jaune but they're extremely vocal and send death threats
