Then there’s a flashforward to 20 years later with RG, BY, WK, and RN kids all going to Beacon.

Then out of nowhere Cinder succs her and becomes the real final boss.

I watched the first episode of this show. Don't know how it managed to get 9 seasons. Seemed like very lackluster anime ripoff stuff.
The first three seasons are typically considered the best, ironically. When it had soul. It was a small project done by a smaller team. The jank had its charm and the fight choreography was where all the actual budget went.
Usually how it is for most shows. Wonder if I'd like the later seasons better though, if they're different than what I first watched.

They’re animated by the same team. It’s about how the fight scene animators depict the strength of the characters, not what their canonical feats are. I don’t give a shit if Ruby made a mech shake once; the fact that her semblance got retconned from “superspeed” to “turning things into flying rose petals” shows how they’re nerfing the characters to fit within their more limited animation skillset.

The fights since then havent been that intense other than the big metal mech battle (which one tapped Jaune, the tank). Arial combat is heavily reduced, movements have more gravity generally speaking. Hell that whole sequence in vol 2 where Blake slices up all those rockets would feel totally out of place in recent volumes. Aura Fu exploding grimm would too. Im not saying ones better than the other but its very much a different style of entertainment. Shit, Vol 3 Weiss would jump rope with Vol 9's by nature of being able to do two things at once. V7 Weiss was able to use several types of glyphs simultaneously when fighting Marrow. Summoning, wind glyph to pull him and a dozens of glyphs with ice on the wall, all at the same time. By V9 she can summon parts of her summons at the same time as well, like wings plus sword plus a bunch of gravity glyphs surrounding her.
Adam is exactly a great example of how they got that ass backwards, but he was a victim of poor writing, not a change in tone.

But stylistically the shift was massive. In later volumes im guessing they put more thought into cause and effect of each action where as in earlier volumes they wanted stuff to look cool. Characters in early volumes tank way more hits than later on, Ren isnt out here punching giant snakes to death, Blake isnt throwing aura beams ect. We still havent seen Weiss stop time again unless im forgetting something. I feel like I am. I mean shit Adam cut that giant frick off robot in half and then turned around to get wrecked by Blake and Yang. In volume uh....5? I think 5. One of the Fenec dudes got jobbed to a whip taser after only a brief fight with Ghira. That would feel out of place in Vol 1-3, but not so much after 5.

Now, that's kinda unfair. Shitposting and trash talking apart, it's less that Jaune is well writed and more that they see potential for good writing on him.
The same can be said about Ren, Nora, Oscar, the Ace OPS and other characters (frankly, I just started to watch on volume 7).
Because, really, even if it shouldn't be the case, there are people who are invested in the show, not for the main 4, but for the world building and other cast members, Jaune included.

RWBY was another attempt at “American anime”, but without anything that made anime good. It was a small, poorly-made, soulful animation that died with its creator.

It is a completely independent animated series; made without any studio mandates; made by an amateur studio; in 3D; on a budget; featuring a female lead cast in an era of glaring misogyny; where the voice actors are animators' friends and secretaries; that features one of the most original fantasy worlds ever created; with action sequences that are better than anything that ever came out of Hollywood. And against all odds, it went on to become a hit!
RWBY was one of the biggest risks in the history of animation that paid off; and is thje most important work of independent animation in history! It proved that you don't need a studio to make your own cartoon, and it proved that you don't need a major network for your cartoon to be a worldwide hit! It also proved that independent animation doesn't need to be restricted to lowbrow topical humor like family Guy or South Park to be successful! Everything from Hazbin hotel and Helluva Boos, through Monkey Wrench, Murder Drones and everything else on its channel, to Lackadaisy and any such projects in the future - their existence can be traced back to Rooster Teeth making gangbusters with the little 3DCG cartoon that could!
Plus, it's fricking fantastic in its own right, the story is great and the cast is absolutely delightful! And besides, it's just better than any fantasy anime that was released in the previous decade.

They even tried to drum up interest with confirming the gay characters but it did nothing. Almost every piece of supplementary media it's ever either returns to the S1-3 era of Beacon or leans on it heavily (Ice Queendom, Blazblue Cross Tag, the DC crossover, even the novels only go so far as "immediately after the fall" and the only one people really liked was the prequel Roman Holiday). It's a bit telling that we keep going back to the "glory days".
That's because seasons 1-3 had a status quo and everything after season 3 is a mess of "and now we're in X region doing Y for some stupid reason." Yes, it's bad and season 3 was the high point, but status quo is the far bigger reason.
The beginning of the end was the Fall of Beacon, because it destroyed the status quo completely and made it impossible to remake. Prior to that you had a decent starting point for a LOT of storylines and plots with the whole monster hunter school; by getting rid of it Kerry and Co. had to basically come up with an entirely new status quo themselves, which they botched up hard. You can change the status quo without destroying it, and if Beacon never fell you could still have the shock charater change/growth without destroying the basic groundwork that your series is built on.
If RWBY gets a reboot here's what should happen

Kerry made a video recently saying “RWBY needs partners to continue” or something like that. V10 is likely never happening and in the event it does it’s going to be outsourced for animation. Also it was Kerry’s idea for the JL crossover so it’s basically his fault too V9 got delayed by almost a year and lost funding, having to be shortened, even if he claims it would’ve been shortened regardless.
I don't like the JL crossover, that being said the crossover just had to be "good" for it to be a success and get people talking about it.

They're a multimedia company. They started with just RvB, then they started doing live action skits and let's plays and so on. RWBY was just some jerk off project that resulted from them giving Monty Oum a shoestring budget for his own web series as a bribe to get him to do some fight scenes for RvB.
I'm pretty sure RoosterTeeth started with RvB, or at the very least that seriously was the only thing that got them on the map. They never did anything interesting other than that until they started making Achievement Hunter let's plays because they got into Youtube early with enough fandom to start making at least some profit from that. RWBY I'm sure was an explosion of profit for them. Ray leaving because RT themselves stifled him streaming when he was years ahead of the curve with streaming (because he had a big boy contract because they just had to be a big boy company), Monty dying, them selling out, hiring a shit ton of diversity hire "talent," and the company contracting Trump Derangement syndrome all happened within a few couple years of eachother and is what killed the company.

I vaguely remember Denzel Washington's daughter being a guest on the show and how the fanbase at the time clowned on her because she was talking about experiencing discrimination when her dad was a Hollywood actor.
The two things that really killed the show for me was
1) Oscar.
RT added some literal who and made him central to the plot. And compared to all the previous characters he didn't have any cool powers or weapons.
2) That V5 fight in front of the academy.
It felt like half the participants weren't evolved and the whole scene seemed more like a group debate. Just shows how much the choreography fell off, compared to the food fight from V2 or even the 3v3 from dead fantasy season 2.

I chose to do Neopolitan: Beyond Ever After as a sequel spinoff that continues Neo's storyline, because the show itself has been in a strong decline for years and I don't see it ending in anything but a disaster. They never managed to write the series decently.
I hope they rushed the ending, but also that next time the IP or franchise lands in better hands. The foundations of RWBY and Remnant weren't bad. It really could have worked, it's just that a "serious" and long storyline proved too much for MKEK and the company as a whole. But there was definitely potential for RWBY to be the next thing, especially in this age of cartoon and comics decline.
If RWBY had been good, they wouldn't have had much competition on this side of the world.

They left so open-ended her lazy character arc (if it can be even called that), you can say that Neo is dead, and technically be right. But I took the opportunity to make her end up stuck in another world created by the Brothers "accidentally". Her ascension process going extremely wrong due to... Unfortunate circumstances, to say the least. The reason for this was simply because of the big narrative potential there was in the franchise's formula as a whole.
Always thought that RWBY could start from zero with a new storyline/conflict after being done with all the Salem vs. Ozma shit, and Neo served as the perfect vehicle for that. For example, her changing disguises and jobs all the time gives one access to tons of stories and arcs. So you can get stuff like waitress Neo fighting a character from One Thousand and One Nights in a restaurant at the top of a skyscraper and next see her working as a chauffeur for Milady (A Dumas character), which ends up throwing her into a complicated political conspiracy.
Basically, Remnant 2.0, but with OCs based on mythological, literary, folkloric, and historical figures that the actual RWBY series likely will never tackle or explore. I thought it would be cool to carry all these elements to another world, without having to wait for the series to end, because it was taking way too long.

MKEK obviously wanted to get rid of Neo and just brought her back for fan pandering, the EA was the perfect opportunity to write her off without her dying so Neogays wouldn’t send them death threats. In the directors commentary they probably much said they put a “bow” on Neo’s story and it was quite obvious since Neo couldn’t even leave the EA as herself since she didn’t have a strong enough connection to return to Remnant and the Blacksmith said her choice would be to live with a broken heart forever or become someone new. If Neo is ever seen again it’ll only be if the show continues and there’s an epilogue, maybe they’ll show her ascended form in the EA.
RWBY probably isn’t getting a V10 regardless or if it does it’ll be the last one. I am assuming they are waiting for JL2’s numbers before making a final decision.
Maybe they'll convince WB to let them do JL3, that speed runs through RWBY's actual ending plot and wrap up the series with Superman and Ruby defeating who ever the big bad is now, I checked out after Monty passed.

Lore dump galore, making characters ie Ironwood, Adam, Oz completely incompetent so Salem can steamroller the setting because they couldn't write a better plot was what sealed this series fate

They are probably waiting until JL2 releases to say anything but odds aren’t too good. At best there will be a V10 that’s a rushjob ending but the most likely scenario is RWBY is cancelled and there’ll possibly be an EC Myers novel to get closure.
To this day, I still thing they never should have done this Salem and Maiden and Relic bullshit, and should have just stuck to the core of the four trailers, minus Yellow, which was colorful fairy tale girls fighting monsters and sometimes robots in bleak locations.
