Ryan Coogler couldnt even direct his way out of a paper bag. Disney must really want Avengers Secret Wars to bomb if they select him as their director.

The problem with Raimi is he might actually be OK with the Rick & Morty guy staying as writer, since he already worked with him and knows he'll give Raimi anything he asks for. Coogler would at least rewrite the script.

I did see Deadline or some other legit source mention a few months back that Feige liked having Raimi on Strange 2 because Raimi actually has experience directing big action blockbusters and didn't need much support from the studio. Feige usually hires directors who don't really know how to work with stunts and expensive special effects, so they have to leave all that to their assistants. It probably made the first four Avengers movies an even bigger production nightmare than they would otherwise have been.

I know Cinemaphile doesn't like MCU Spider-Man but Watts might unironically be the best pick. Raimi and Coogler are both great at telling personal stories. However I can't imagine them being able to make an "event" movie work. With Watt's he proved with NWH that he can make dumb bullshit "event" movie cameofest work alongside a personal story.

Coogler is the only one that would deliver something decent. He made a Black Panther without T'Challa succeed. It's like if you tried to make Batman without Batman.

Sam Raimi def could succeed. Spiderman 2 is kino.

He just needs studio not to interfere

On Doctor Strange 2 he was allowed to throw out the story the MCU had already approved and do a completely new story from scratch.

The movie suffered from not enough studio interference.

No, that's on the record. When Raimi and the Rick & Morty writer came on to the project they were supposed to do a quick rewrite of Scott Derrickson's story. Then COVID delays hit and they took advantage of the delay to create a new story that would be more Raimi-esque.

It doesn't make it bad, it just means the studio didn't insist they stick to the approved story, probably because the story wasn't working in the first place or Derrickson wouldn't have been forced off.

Sam Raimi is the best choice, Coogler can be good outside of capeshit but while the first BP movie starts out really well, both of them feel HEAVILY fricked with by execs by the end
I thought Jon Watts was doing F4?
    >Destin Daniel Cretton is pushing for the job, but Marvel wants someone more experienced.
Shang Chi had the absolute same problem BP had: Good, grounded first half and suddenly a CG shitfest ending that completely fricks the entire movie
They're interchangeable and both would be controlled by execs the same

Who the frick cares about directors? Which writer they are going to hire should be the main point of interest. Otherwise you get shit like Doctor Strange 2 which had awful writing

Raimi is the only one with the talent to do that, with good camera shots creativity in action scenes and he likes to photograph women well unlike this gay Coogler who seems to hate women with curves look at his disastrous choice for Sury

Raimi and Coogler would both be good picks, Coogler isn’t the best story-wise but he’s basically the only MCU machine guy that knows how to make something exciting

I just want Raimi yo make a real Darkman 2. No offense to the Return of Durant.

None of them seem ideal based on prior MCU outings, but I guess Sam Raimi is the one least likely to frick up based just because he has the most experience as a director. Dr. Strange II shows that he struggles to blend his own directoral style with MCU mandates though.

Ryan Coogler could pull it off. Black Panther was good, but Wakanda Forever was all over the place. That said, Wakanda Forever may be more attributable to Chadwick Boseman's death than his own failings as a director.

All of the Spider-Man films have ranged from mid to shit so I have zero expectations for Jon Watts if he gets picked

Every fricking time I see him it throws me just how much Ted and Sam look alike
