His mother abused them both but his brother mostly. I actually still don't understand this movie but it's kino to watch
Yeah it's very atmospheric.
It was subversive story telling that went over most peoples head probably
The protagonists (gosling and his family) were actually the villains.
>Drug dealers
>Gangsters
>His revenge arc is avenging his pedo brother
The antagonist, the cop is actually the hero
>only shown killing criminals or in self defense
>shows mercy to Gosling, who spent the entire movie trying to kill him, by just cutting his arms off instead of killing him.
Tbh I think you have to be kind of moronic not to see that the Thai cop is obviously the hero
Turned it off after 30 mins boring shite
okay zoomer
>shite
Guess how I know you're a subhuman.
I think I might have watched 45 minutes. Genuinely the most boring film I've ever seen.
Your taste and attention span are for shit, but points for at least using 'genuinely' instead of 'unironically' like most of these braindead fricksticks.
>this is what happens when you let kids grow up with smartphones
Having shitty obscure """taste""" doesn't make you cultured, it just makes you a moron.
>t. Justin Bieber fan
Like all the trash that homosexual has been in it's some gay homosexual trash
>waaaah don't people like this trash homosexual movie?
Because it is shit
>not white enough to end his sentences properly
I guess we know why you have shit taste in art.
>using end punctuation when there's not another sentence after
Please
>he doesn't know how or when to behave
Brown eyes detected.
Dilate troon
Cinemaphile doesn't watch movies, does it?
act tough and challenge a tiny old guy and get your ass whooped is the main plot
Yeah
>filename
Hispanic moment
Was he a dirty cop?
more like vigilante justice
You can be tough, you'll still lose if you try to fight God.
it filtered millions
It's the sequel to Drive
at the end of Drive he throws it all away with Irene the possibility of a simple life with her when he has to kill all those people
After killing Bernie, Shannon's death, etc. he knows people will come looking for him and to protect Irene he flees the country.
He goes to Thailand to start over and that's when Only God Forgives takes place
And yet he grew up there in the fighting business. Nice try. No relation.
if he grew up there then why doesn't he speak thai?
Because the Westerners living there are depicted as a kind of self appointed royalty who treat Thai people like slaves in their own country
It's actually quite neat, it's about a lost person finding God, challenging him, submitting to him, and accepting penance for his sins and being happier for doing so
Never realized this. That's pretty cool.
He doesn't find god and its not a christian allegory. He comes up against god in its existential sense. It's about trying to fight a fight you can't win, rail against a universe that makes you impotent and powerless, accepting your limitations, and dealing with the freudian fallout all men have to deal with. It's about a masculinity that can never reach the ideal men are expected to strive for. In the end, if you follow other's expectations of you, you lose. In this case, his fists, the only thing he defined himself by.
Don't forget to tip your fedora sers
That wasn't my take on it but I'm just relaying what I took from the movie. If what you wrote is the writers intent then I take back my prior support for the movie and deem it cringe henceforth.
You’re actually just wrong.
The movie is kino. Its about judgment from God (Chang). This is how and why Chang can seemingly pull a sword out of nowhere and ultimately kills those who sin (ex Billy). Sin is translated two ways in the movie, first through the colour choice of lighting and secondly, visually, by the visuals of hands. When Billy kills that kid the room is illuminated red. As Gooses character progress the lighting on him, and his hands, progress from red to yellow to blue. Hands are the tools that commits sin. This is why Chang takes Julian’s hands in the end, as means of forgiveness also the importance of fighting and why his hands are tied when he’s having sex with Mai.
And yes, his mom molested them
both. She also pit them against each other and openly favourited Billy. It was Goose who thought Julian would want to go back into the womb, couldn’t tell you why.
And what is the sexually abusive mother supposed to represent? Why does the cop sing?
She's the devil
I’m not sure if she has a subtext. In Thailand karaoke is so popular and important is a near religious experience.
>Why does the cop sing?
God has to rest and relax every once in awhile
> Why does the cop sing?
It was his sermon
It's not goslings, It's refn's.
Autism.
It’s about a Real Thai Patriot and pious buddhist (the police officer guy) serving justice to the whitoid degenerates who ruined his country by turning it into their own psychopathic playground
> I’m a nom white who attends a North American liberal arts college where I major in critical studies. My professors tell me my C average is actually because of white supremacy and not my low IQ.
Sorry but visiting foreign countries in order to rape teenage girls and boys is degenerate behavior. You can’t deny those facts so you resort to inventing fictional biographies for anonymous internet posters (you guessed wrong on all counts btw)
It's not rape if they cum.
It's about Refn watching Santa Sangre and elaborating on it
>the Jodorowsky cucks have arrived
Yawn.
Loved the karaoke scenes. Good film, definitely got oedipal vibes off it.
Heh, yeah. I did get curious about The Holy Mountain after seeing that one meme image posted about it enough times.
You don't even have the balls to reply to my post you passive aggressive little b***h. Maybe you should crawl up your mom's snatch as well.
You make me yawn, druggie pseud frick.
I mostly enjoyed this when I watched it as a teenager but I didn't really get much out of it
Couldn’t be bothered reading the thread. It rips off Santa Sangre
YAWN
It does just a DOOD LED LIGHTS refn version. I still like it though
Jodorowsky and Refn are good friends and obviously Refn was influenced by him
You guys know that Refn said the entire movie is an allegory right? Do you know of what?
What?
A sperm travelling through the birth canal to fertilize the egg. Not joking.
Makes no sense.
if the cop was a good looking guy do you think the movie would people have been like, I actually like this
change as little as possible, but have it be idris elba, or the asian guy from the new fx show shogun, or keanu reeves even.
Don't think so. The cop is creepy because he keeps the sword shelved across his back, under his shirt, and has to walk in that weird stiff way.
