So, it happened AGAIN. We can blame Brie, we can blame the crappy CGI, we can blame the incel review bombers, we can praise Avatar's effort but the truth is it's simply not enough. Quippy humour, awful villains, diversity casting you name it, it all stinks.
Don't get me wrong, I still have full faith in Feige and the lads, but MASSIVE improvements in the box office are desperately needed in the summer. Otherwise I'm not very optimistic about the next movie, or our chances of breaking 2 billies in the next Avengers. Not like this. What do you think, /mug/? Should we beg for Robert Downey Jr. to come back or is Ms. Marvel a better leader for the Avengers going forward? #TONYSTARK or #MSMARVEL?

You can blame Marvel for releasing a film no one wanted with characters no one cares about just because they want to promote Diversity and Inclusion. Its going to cost them $300 million and the shareholders arent going to be pleased.
Stop with wokism and feminism, unless you give us the fanservice we want.
Then you'll get your Billion per movie back.
They already learn their lesson even before The Marvels.
It's just that those projects were well underway and couldn't be changed anymore.
But Loki which was recorded at a later date it's already on good track again.
Frick him +20 marvel movies/tv shows and his villains are still garbage.
they need to stop targeting capeshit at women, the entire fricking reason disney bought marvel was to target males
>the entire fricking reason disney bought marvel was to target males
Marvels had a +60% male audience, they already have that market so they're trying to expand the brand to women and other minorities and that's what's killing the whole thing.
They've taken the problem with American comic books and successfully translated it to American comic movies.
American comics love to tie-in stories and create huge teams and reboot with different characters and generally do boring multiverse shit. This is due to the writers themselves being bored with their own work and lacking the creativity to keep a single story (and universe) interesting. No matter how cool a Marvel comic book cover looks, a rando off the street isn't going to buy it, because in order to know what the frick is going on you need to have read dozens of other books, and in the case of these movies - watched a bunch of shit on Disney plus.
Comic book movies need to tell a self-contained story and keep it interesting without relying on tie-ins and multiverse shit.
Couple things wrong with your theories. One is that they lack creativity. They don't. But the writers are like children playing "superman vs. the hulk" with action figures. That is their fantasy and their audience loves it. Second is the idea that they can't keep a story interesting. It's the suits that want stories to go on forever because characters/IP are investments and an investment that doesn't make money is a liability. I imagine lots of writers hit a point where they want to bring a story/character to a close, because they had an ending in mind or because they have no more stories to tell. That's the point where the suits hand that character to a different writer for a reboot or multiverse revamp. The root of all evil and the enemy of all art is the profit motive.
You're giving too much credit to writers and directors. The problem is the inmates are running the asylum and the suits are too scared to say anyhting because they don't want a racism or sexism scandal like when Ray Fisher or John Boyega tried to rattle the cage.
Everyone in the industry is so far up their own ass right now and lacking in self awareness. Ironically, shrewd businessmen detached from the process putting their foots down would actually turn things around but that's not happening right now.
>A bunch of barely related characters doing things together >Unfunny dialogue met with scenes that are supposed to be serious but come off as lazy >A hole in space that threatens the universe
Mother fricker you're right
Who is giving them money to do this? Why if you have billion dollar franchise to you run your budget up to 300 million. Tell your director keep it under 150.
Disney is, and now they are falling victim to the woke cultists who have poisoned the studio from the inside out with some ideology. The suits are powerless to save it unless they almost entirely clean house and rescind all their work policies, which will never happen because the majority of that companies employees are woke cultists.
woke philosophy is a brain cancer designed to control how and what people think. It was meant to effect stupid, easily impressionable people, who want to "do good," and "be better." What the smug leftist morons forgot was this: they are also idiots. They got high on their own supply to the point that their own philosophy became unmanageable as the people who were supposed to be managing it were just products of their own control system. It became self recursive, an almost baroque abstraction of itself. And now we have The Marvels getting green lit while Captain America is going through enough reshoots to make a whole other film. Easy money was a mistake and these companies will never recover from multi hundred million dollar quarterly losses with the economy in the state it is in. The market rejected your self-indulgent thesis Get fricked.
nobody in Hollywood gives a shit anymore. It's all a huge scam to line the pockets of their friend. Instead of just casting a new guy to play Luke Skywalker, they went with hiring a guy to play him and then paying VFX to put a soulless version of Hamill's face on him. This doesn't make business sense. They don't care about making money.
>Instead of just casting a new guy to play Luke Skywalker
Seriously, and I say this completely unironically, go frick yourself and never give your moronic opinions about star wars ever again you pleb fricking shit.
Because the people who are making these movies also made movies that make over a Billion with a B.
The people who greenlight this shit do not watch movies. They look to paul from marketing and focus groups which say the demos with the most cash to spend(that they will spend on movies) are center-left women with children, gays, and black/hispanic families. And they tell people they want women empowerment, less breasts, and diversity. But they don't actually want that.
>gauge the success
Sounds to me like you're using sales figures as an objective metric to argue about the movie. This is beyond moronic. Talk about the movie.
>Talk about the movie.
Why? I have no interest in such a shitty product. I'm only interested in seeing it fail and it's doing that so I'm enjoying talking about that.
No one talked about the movie when CM1 earned a billion at the box office. But when the Marvels is one of the worst Hollywood flops in history, it’s talk about the movie, chuds.
Let's put it this way, when the flash came out our resident disneyshills made about two hundred OH NO NO NO threads about it being a financial failure (rightfully so). The Marvels is doing worse than the flash
Much more than that. The budget was 270m, Disney spends 150m on marketing for marvel movies so 420. Studios only get 60% of the domestic revenue, which is only 27m out of 45m, so they’ll be at -393m.
On Indiana Jones at least they had the excuse of overestimating how popular the movie would be based on the popularity of the previous films. There's no reason for them to believe The Marvels would make more than half a billion at all.

>Still no idea how it did that when it was the worst Marvel movie
It was one of the few to come out between infinity war and endgame, I think it was just that and Ant Man 2. People were hoping for some kind of hint as to what was gonna happen in the culmination of the MCU.
Embrace it frens, been a long time coming since Brie Larson mooched off the fricking Avengers in the first Captain Marvel movie. We told them, now they will learn.
Who fricking cares, people have moved on from this garbage. I can almost watch any generic sci-fi tv production from the 90's and its miles better than most of this garbage.
>borderline unethical reporting to intentionally obscure why Disney produced THE MARVELS ~ marketing for their brand and streaming service, and to attract future talent ~ and to pretend the normal box office rules in any way apply is pretty disheartening
First one was placed between Infinity War and Endgame. IW was a huge success and had a post credits scene for Captain Marvel. Everyone flocked to it because they were hyped and thought she would play a key role in Endgame, but she didn't. The fans disliked both the character and the actress. And after Endgame the MCU fatigue started, which has steadily been growing.
If the DCEU had limped along for just a few more years, with both studios desperate, we could've gotten some Marvel-DC crossover just-shut-your-brain-off KINO
>Marvel-DC crossover
Doubt it. That would require all the owners and companies agreeing, and that would be impossible. It was hard enough to get Spiderman into the MCU.
So, it happened AGAIN. We can blame Brie, we can blame the crappy CGI, we can blame the incel review bombers, we can praise Avatar's effort but the truth is it's simply not enough. Quippy humour, awful villains, diversity casting you name it, it all stinks.

I fricking love that it's always there
It's simple.
Marvel is as beloved as usual.
Stop with wokism and feminism, unless you give us the fanservice we want.
Then you'll get your Billion per movie back.
>Stop with wokism and feminism, unless you give us the fanservice we want.
The pendulum will swing back, Feige Disney aren’t that dumb.
They already learn their lesson even before The Marvels.
It's just that those projects were well underway and couldn't be changed anymore.
But Loki which was recorded at a later date it's already on good track again.
i m not watching your capeshit even if they remove wokism and feminism tho
they arent movies, they are garbage tbqh
Frick off then. We didn't need you back then, now or ever.
My boy Feige, he needs more time...

should be 90% and not the lowest opening for a marvel movie of all time
They've taken the problem with American comic books and successfully translated it to American comic movies.

The Marvels reminds me of To Boldly Flee: I don't know who half of those characters are and someone has a spaceship out of nowhere.
>The Marvels reminds me of To Boldly Flee
This is probably the most brutal and cutting criticism of a film I have ever read on this site.
>A bunch of barely related characters doing things together
>Unfunny dialogue met with scenes that are supposed to be serious but come off as lazy
>A hole in space that threatens the universe
Mother fricker you're right
Who is giving them money to do this? Why if you have billion dollar franchise to you run your budget up to 300 million. Tell your director keep it under 150.
These movies are already shitty as it is they can't make effects cheaper than this.
>Who is giving them money to do this?
~~*Who*~~ indeed?
High interest rates are making it harder for people like him to toss money around
>High interest rates are making it harder for people like him to print more debt notes
lmao

The suits are powerless to save it unless they almost entirely clean house and rescind all their work policies, which will never happen because the majority of that companies employees are woke cultists.

It’s clear he has some idea. Stop living in denial. Be better.
woke philosophy is a brain cancer designed to control how and what people think. It was meant to effect stupid, easily impressionable people, who want to "do good," and "be better." all of their movies have multiple reshoots now.
nobody in Hollywood gives a shit anymore. It's all a huge scam to line the pockets of their friend. That would mean hiring a white actor
Nintendo is the only entertainment company that still knows what makes a product sell. And it ain’t putting a woman in their games and making her gay.
>Instead of just casting a new guy to play Luke Skywalker
Seriously, and I say this completely unironically, go frick yourself and never give your moronic opinions about star wars ever again you pleb fricking shit.

Sweet child. It's not the director spending this money
Because the people who are making these movies also made movies that make over a Billion with a B.
The people who greenlight this shit do not watch movies. They look to paul from marketing and focus groups which say the demos with the most cash to spend(that they will spend on movies) are center-left women with children, gays, and black/hispanic families. >there is always a bunch of active box office threads
what is this obsession with ticket sales of movies?
There's no artistry in Hollywood film anymore, they're just products, the only way to gauge the success of a product is through sales.
>gauge the success
Sounds to me like you're using sales figures as an objective metric to argue about the movie. This is beyond moronic. Talk about the movie.
No, you.
>Talk about the movie.
Why? I have no interest in such a shitty product. I'm only interested in seeing it fail and it's doing that so I'm enjoying talking about that.
Imagine if you were interesting.
Seems like you suffer from the same plight considering you're playing defence for a flop movie absolutely no one wanted.
No one talked about the movie when CM1 earned a billion at the box office. But when the Marvels is one of the worst Hollywood flops in history, it’s talk about the movie, chuds.
cm1? keep in mind, i can count the capeshit movies i watched on the fingers of one hand and it includes Spawn and Blade.
i know sar all they care about is redeem
>what is this obsession with ticket sales of movies?
Public interest
And despite it being patently obvious that no one wants this they will blame the audience for not going and make more shit of the same ilk.
LOWER THAN THE FLASH
Lower than Morbius almost everywhere lol
Morbius was break even for its budget.
I'm not a box office autist. Is this a good or bad thing?
Very bad
The Marvels is looking to unironically be the biggest box office bomb of all time
Let's put it this way, when the flash came out our resident disneyshills made about two hundred OH NO NO NO threads about it being a financial failure (rightfully so). The Marvels is doing worse than the flash
>45 million is terrible
>do you even have 1 million ?
>s-s-shut up
Technically, they don't have 45 million, right now they have -212 million, and I definitely have more money than that.
Much more than that. The budget was 270m, Disney spends 150m on marketing for marvel movies so 420. Studios only get 60% of the domestic revenue, which is only 27m out of 45m, so they’ll be at -393m.
Yeah, I was being generous. It's crazy that someone can spend almost half a billion dollars on a movie that appeals to no one.
Disney spent that on Indiana Jones
On Indiana Jones at least they had the excuse of overestimating how popular the movie would be based on the popularity of the previous films. There's no reason for them to believe The Marvels would make more than half a billion at all.
Captain Marvel made a cool billion.
They thought they could replicate that.

Huh, good point
I don’t have 1 million, but I also don’t have -400 million dollars after this weekend like this movie will.
Technically this piece of shit needs to make like 800ish million before it even starts to make a profit so yeah I’ve got more money than -755,000,000
>800ish million
I will never believe these kinds of numbers until I see the math WITH proof
>capitialism…le bad
>but also I must defend billionaires and their companies
Why are troons like this?
Their politics are their religious beliefs.
45 million is like buying 80 houses at this point
I can't believe Flash wasn't the floor for worst CBM opening this year, finally Marvel joins the pit with DC.
Blue Beetle opened to $25 million. The Marvels is significantly higher than the floor.
Blue Beetles budget was also less than half of The Marvels and The Flash
>4.5 million
Holy shit. This might actually lose to Morbius.
IT'S MORBIN TIME!
Embrace it frens, been a long time coming since Brie Larson mooched off the fricking Avengers in the first Captain Marvel movie. We told them, now they will learn.

I don't care if it's good or bad. I am sick of Disney's shit, Marvel's shit, and capeshit in general.
The future isn't looking good for the MCU.
>borderline unethical reporting to intentionally obscure why Disney produced THE MARVELS ~ marketing for their brand and streaming service, and to attract future talent ~ and to pretend the normal box office rules in any way apply is pretty disheartening
New cope just dropped.
Disney is buying 500m in tickets next week, why you keep fighting?
"Grassroots charities" are buying tickets, not disney. That would be crazy haha.
who's going to play doctor insano in the next avengers movie?
Brie is probably crying tight now.
They told her hating Men and hating whites would be good for her career.
Advancing your career by LARPing about things you don't believe in seems pretty easy, especially when you get paid for it
actors don't believe anything, they are empty vessels for ideas (and penis)
It's coming bros, heads are about to fly. It's already too late for Disney to be saved though.
disney wins even when they lose. face it, they OWN your children.
the BAHDDIES guy is in this? poor dude thought to make some quick cash by starring in a Marvel picture and this is what he gets
he's not
How does the first one make a billion dollars and then the main character of the MCU gets relegated to the third lead in her own sequel?
First one was placed between Infinity War and Endgame. IW was a huge success and had a post credits scene for Captain Marvel. Everyone flocked to it because they were hyped and thought she would play a key role in Endgame, but she didn't. The fans disliked both the character and the actress. And after Endgame the MCU fatigue started, which has steadily been growing.
It was released in the peak of capeshit, a R-rated joker solo movie also did 1 billion the same year
If the DCEU had limped along for just a few more years, with both studios desperate, we could've gotten some Marvel-DC crossover just-shut-your-brain-off KINO
>Marvel-DC crossover
Doubt it. That would require all the owners and companies agreeing, and that would be impossible. It was hard enough to get Spiderman into the MCU.
frickin' finally. The world is healing
