      Guardians 3 did 800m. A literal z-tier team. People just don't like these c**ts

Guardians might be perhaps the exception, but it's probably dragging the hype from G2, which was in fact entertaining enough.

^ is right. The reason other avengers were popular was because of the MCU. Consoomers might like them individually, but that ain't enough to convince normies.

Bullshit. Captain america was a laughing stock, so was aquaman, both had successful movies on their own. The two first ant man movies also did good and he's a solo obscure character.

comic books as a media is essentially dead, barely anyone knows who these characters are so for a while people were willing to watch movies about just about any of them as long as the movies met expectations

              >comic books as a media is essentially dead
Yes, and the c**ts who killed them made Marvels, while manga fricks them in the ass.

The guardians movies are not really super hero films though. Marvel had a lot of genres that were in its universe that aren't necessarily superhero focused.

it is superheroes, they are just "le hecking wholesome mercenaries" that just decide to do the right thing while complaining about it but still do the same that a normal superhero would do, it's like an anti-hero but even more gay

              Anonymous

Then you haven't watched many movies, as that description works for a frickton of adventure movies that explicitly aren't superhero films. Superhero movies are synonymous with the term capeshit, and that description doesn't work here - unless you argue the inclusion of Warlock turns it into a superhero movie, which you didn't mention. I think that's the only way they could be connected, but Guardians 1/2 didn't have anyone like that.

superheroes are about aesthetics and superhero cliches, it doesn't matter what excuse you give for the powers, or for why they decide to save the world
                >Warlock
i haven't watched G3, maybe that one was different, but G1 and G2 were completely straightforward superhero movies in space

The antagonist of gotg 1 was some space wizard with a staff. It's capeshit whether you like it or not. Can't believe you fell for that gay meme about Marvel vs scorcese films.

That's science fiction fantasy schlock. You're a moron if you think that's exclusive to Capeshit. So you've basically watched zero 80's or 90's low budget shit.

They also like Avengers, X-Men, and some others. What they don't like is C and D-Listers, but Disney was arrogant and thought that the "MCU Brand" would make these movies successes too.

        Anonymous

Normies can like C/D-Listers, they just need to be in good projects. Guardians is the main proof of that.

The Guardians became popular at a time when people were more likely to watch random superhero movies, and now the team is A-list. Disney can't pull off the same thing anymore, the market and audience have changed.

The movie version of Captain Marvel is an irresponsible, violent, borderline sadistic space cop who goes around the universe blowing up planets and destabilizing entire civilizations. She is so ridiculously overpowered she almost serves as a metaphor for God himself acting as an absentee landlord. By a stroke of good fortune for the studio, the actress playing the part is an unlikable, narcissistic hag with big boobs. Had they embraced all this and leaned on it, they could have made a meta supehero flick with a rogue antihero that subverts the usual cookie cutter morality of this kind of goyslop and thus end up lending some semblance of depth to stuff that is literally written for children
