Right, if he was going to throw his life away, why not at least save her? He literally did it to stroke his own ego.

I think he knew she told the truth to the wife fully aware it could ruin her life and she could be sued. It was her way of cleansing herself of ruining Howard’s life and not going to the police when he died

      >She’s still going to get sued by Howard’s wife.
Yes. That's the point. She wasn't trying to avoid that, and Saul wasn't trying to help her (given that he knows she already confessed).

It isn't. They were both looking to get punished because they were penitent.

She’s not going to get sued. All that would do is force a woman working at a sprinkler company in Florida to declare bankruptcy under a giant ass judgment or spend the rest of her life with her shit wages being garnished for what amounts to pennies to Howard’s widow. No lawyer would take that case because it’s not going to make money, and even if Howard’s widow footed the bill to get a judgment she can’t collect, she’s only throwing money at lawyers that won’t make her feel any better.

If she really wanted Justice, she’d push the DA to move on prosecution, but even that doesn’t really go anywhere because the actual murder wasn’t connected to their scam. It was an angry Howard showing up at the wrong place at the wrong time.

you can explain your interpretation as much as you want but it's not realistic. jimmy/saul/gene/migger would never confess like that for some pussy. it was completely out of character. it was a shitty attempt at a raskolnikov type ending where he finally has some conscience and confesses.

the more realistic arc would be to realise he'll never change (which he already did) and just accept that. The show should've ended in the gene arc and left it up to the viewers to discuss whether he got caught.

Because Saul is Daedalus. Walter White was Icarus, flying to close to the sun on wings Saul made for him.

The last 2 episodes are a replay of Jimmies life: facing jail for fricking up as slipping Jimmy, using Saul Goodman to get out from under that, and finally taking ownership of the whole Heisenberg situation. He could have walked away with 7 years if he kept his mouth shut, but then he’s just the b***h of a lawyer Heisenberg bullied in to compliance.

He says “Walter White would have been dead or in jail within a month without me!”because he can lead a better life behind bars than he can in Omaha managing a Cinnabon. He can’t change who he his, but he can embrace it and spend however long he has left surrounded by people who respect him, and living in a physical prison with his mind free instead of a prison of mediocrity and paranoia.

When his life is over, Jimmy could be remembered one of two ways: as Gene, the Cinnabon manager who was a criminal in hiding, or as Saul Goodman, the right hand of Meth kingpin Walter White. Embracing Saul was choosing his legacy, and denying Saul as his name was the last step in accepting his fate.

The only kicks the husk that he is after BB gets is doing these cons again, which was what led him to his second downfall despite securing a relatively quiet life. Does that strike you as someone who'll ever be able to lead a fulfilling life?
regardless of age he maybe has 10-15 more years to live while still in good health, the choice is either living those as a depressed man who has nothing but regrets on his mind, or spend it in a place where he's clearly well respected, and more importantly with a clear conscience and the respect of the only person he's ever loved.

hm. pretty sure we're not dealing with imaginary greek characters here in any way, but whatever. if you want to draw a parallel between two things that aren't happening, go for it. however, the whole better off in prison part doesn't hold up because saul has always been ahead of the law. and even then, still doesn't explain him snitching on himself. no one would never do that, even if his master plan was to live like a king in jail with respect from inmates.

Frick that. He gets out in 7 years with nothing but the clothes on his back? He’s pushing what, 60? No friends, no family, no retirement. Just a few more years of slipping before he ends up dead in an alley like Marco?

Literally. Saul could just write a book about the Heisenberg story and he’d make millions

Are you being obtuse/moronic, or do you seriously not understand he was finally taking Chuck’s advice to heart for the first time ever about not cutting any corners?
Taking the 7 year deal, shifting it all onto Walt and Jesse, that’s exactly the legal frickery Chuck begged Jimmy not to do.
So, he finally decided uphold the law, as honourably as he could, which now was facing the real consequences of his actiobns.

                >Gets his life destroyed, freedom taken and will spend 86 years in prison.

Chuck was a dumb piece of shit on anything not strictly related to laws and courts. In practical matters he was an idiot.
Imagine taking advice from a moron who needed a space blanket to go the store, got divorce raped and got kicked out of his own law firm by the son of his own law partner whom he helped pass the bar exam, lmao. Why did Jimmy look up to him anyway?

As far as I can see the message of BCS is cut corners in life, otherwise you will get fricked. Jimmy would have gotten 7 years instead of 86 if he continued scamming just for one more hour.

                >long life:
no reason to think he won't live to 90 years if he exercises. He won't get shanked because the inmates respect him
                >secure:

                > empty :
IN MAX prison there is no much opportunity to do anything in your life. Even if he does something, he will never see the real world again or impact anything outside.
                > loveless:
No women in prison. And Kim didn't show that she loves him. She didn't even kiss him or hug him. Maybe she respects him, but that's a stretch. She didn't even return the finger gun gesture !!! Poor Jimmy.
                > soulless:
Eh, if he had one he wouldn't go to Walt and try to expand the meth business. A confession doesn't help Walt's victims and not even Kim's civil case. It's self-serving and selfish at best, because it only helps Jimmy to feel better.

The finale was just badly written. The writers bit off more than they could chew.

                >IN MAX prison there is no much opportunity to do anything in your life. Even if he does something, he will never see the real world again or impact anything outside
True, but now he has reclaimed his soul, his dignity, and has avoided severing his only connection to humanity in the world (Kim). I understand that not everyone will agree, but for some people these things are infinitely more valuable than material possessions.
                >No women in prison. And Kim didn't show that she loves him. She didn't even kiss him or hug him. Maybe she respects him, but that's a stretch. She didn't even return the finger gun gesture !!! Poor Jimmy.
She still loves him, she never stopped doing so. She didnt show it with hugs and kisses, but I think you can understand that at this point their relation is very complex. Also I wasnt specifically talking about romantic love. I meant it more in general, as the act of genuinely caring for someone else's well being. Kim is at the end of BCS the only person in the world that feels that way about him.
Also she didnt respond to that gesture because she was clearly very close to crying, and didnt want to break down before leaving.
                >Eh, if he had one he wouldn't go to Walt and try to expand the meth business. A confession doesn't help Walt's victims and not even Kim's civil case. It's self-serving and selfish at best, because it only helps Jimmy to feel better
Confessions actually have a very beneficial psychological effect on victims' relatives, since it helps them moving over that part of their lives (which is harder to do when you know that the guy who did that to your relative is still out there, free).
But I think Jimmy would have done it even if there was no benefit, just to cut the bullshit and free himself once and for all from his Saul persona. You might say that Jimmy might have worked it out in other ways, but the main theme of BCS is that these tricks never work for him, and always lead him to deeper pits of despair.

                >it's not just about stopping the scamming, but about taking responsibility for his actions, jimmy didn't want to be saul anymore

But that's just not true. He was completely fine with taking the plea deal and avoiding the consequences of his actions. He made the deal himself and was wienery and arrogant towards the prosecution. He even fricked with them by demanding special ice cream flavour!

Only when he heard that Kim may be fricked with the civil case, he decided to sacrifice 86 years of his life just she can keep her wealth in case Cheryl sues her and MAYBE wins ? It doesn't make sense. The only evidence Howard's wife has is Kim's confession which she can retract anytime she wants. Also, if Kim really wants to get convicted because of her guilt of the Howard's murder her confession is worth more than what Jimmy said in court.

Jimmy basically threw his life away for nothing. He didn't help Kim, he didn't help any ofWalt's victims, he didn't help himself. This is just bad writing.

This, logically I thought Jimmy was gonna implicate Kim, after being separate for 7 years, from Jimmy's perspective and their last phone call, it would make little sense for Jimmy to think that she still cared about him.
I thought that's what the set ups were leading to.

Nothing Jimmy says changes the fact Kim would face a civil suit, he wasn’t trying to get her off the hook. Kim chose to face the consequences of her actions and Jimmy did too. The act of confession is not a self serving act, it’s self sacrifice for a higher power, but in this case God is replaced with the law, hence Chuck’s cameo.

                >The act of confession is not a self serving act, it’s self sacrifice for a higher power, but in this case God is replaced with the law, hence Chuck’s cameo.

Come on, this doesn't make any sense.

Jimmy never gave a rat's ass about the law not for even one moment during five seasons of Breaking Bad and six seasons of Better Call Saul. But in the series finale he does a 180 degree turn at the last moment? Because of one flashback? This is textbook contrived writing 101. Characters don't change organically, but do things they would never do normally because the writer wanted them too. If they wanted to show Jimmy's change, they had an entire 6th season which was filled with boring filler instead.

The more you try to defend the finale, the more it shows how nothing in it makes sense.

He does though, that’s why he becomes a lawyer in the first place. It’s only Chuck’s rejection of the idea that Jimmy can change that causes him to treat the law as immaterial and something deserving of being lashed out at, as a perversion of something that his moral absolutist brother treated as sacred.

                Anonymous

I think Jimmy basically had these potential changes bottled up for so long. Kim confessing to the police was the last straw, and at that point he let it all out

Is the same hur dur woke shit vailed as a poetic ending
    >Hur dur so many bad things would be solved if white men went to therapy.

All you have to do is end your life instead of sitting for a minute and thinking about your actions.

Hack of a writer though the bible is the best selling book I better steal from them.

    >>Saul is on the bus going to prison

Which part of BrBa was that flashback from, where Saul and Walt were hiding somewhere and they discuss regrets? I’ve watched BrBa twice but still can’t place it.

He's just a much younger Mike, that's why he only appears in flashbacks.

derp derp i feel so bad and wanna saved my ex from being sued by a rich widow whos husbands was a arrogant butthole, Hamlin trespassing when murdered boo hoo boo hoo im so sad lawyer dont want freedom, want jail and bum stuff want, im going to take 80 years because that is the only logical thing that my character would do despite no living human being would ever do that because its fricking insane.

ending could have been him getting out of jail in 5 years and dedicating his life to volunteering, like Kim was doing in that law place.

actually helping people and serving the world. Hamlin deserved to be killed just for denying that young girl a scholarship because she shop lifted, Hamlin was an butthole. He stole clients. His wife didn't like him.

Hamlin fricked plenty of people over. He was unethical with the Sandpiper case.

Kim was volunteering in that law place, the truth was they needed to ATONE IN THE REAL WORLD. Not in jail lol.

Kim went to Gus's house to murder him lol

conspiracy to murder, is she going to admit to that???

Doesn't matter the circumstances, the law says shes should have gone to the police.

Kim should be jailed for attempting to kill Gus. But no boo hoo we have to have a FULL confession from simp boy james. because why.

I wanted to see James/ jimmy, Saul whatever atone in the real world, the world he spent his life trying to frick over. He finally serves other people, volunteers forever, uses his resources to help others.

7 years is a long time, and enough time to atone.

Serves a life sentence doing the equivalent of picking litter on the highway, like he got out of, by bullshitting the dude. no more bs, full time low rank civilian. Jail is too easy for him, the prisoners' were worshiping him

The court didn't deserve the whole truth. The world deserved James MGill becoming a real citizen.

James atoning back in the real world would have been the most logical thing.

    total bullshit

this is actually a good take, we see the guy getting out of a lot of shit through years, then he escape from a lot of shit just to throw it all away and live forever in a prison jerking off Black folk and seeing Kim once a year while she fricks yep, totally moron ending, why he couldn't just get out after 7 or 10 years and live the rest of his life with kim helping people? He could be an example for the poor and low criminals, try to change their lifes

It’s a prison in Colorado. Why would all the prisoners know of a random lawyer from New Mexico? Let alone his catch phrase from old commercials

Is there any chance Jimmy could get around serving life in a cell? He joked at the end about getting out on good behavior.
Granted he's still communicating with Kim, perhaps the court considers him decent enough to work as volunteer public defense / legal advice to get time off his sentencing?

I mean if anything he demonstrated Jimmy's good nature by not lying to the court and pursuing the 7 year deal he got. Surely they would be lenient on giving him some penance.

Lmao at thinking the government rewards honesty

I just feel like Jimmy and Kim are pretty damn smart, and I wouldn't be surprised if she comes back to him with some modest reasonable ideas that allow him to reconcile using his abilities rather than the extreme flagellation of being in a cell.
        But I dunno.
