When I was younger, say when Inception came out, I was a big fan of him. Probably because I hadn't watched many movies. Then I started watching more and more films and became a contrarian regarding Nolan. Now that I'm older I've come back around: he's a good filmmaker. I go to see every movie he makes in the theater.
Nolan is pretty good at implementing narrative gimmicks in a movie as an excuse to make really cool looking scenes or plots, but he is absolutely shit at writing dialogue or interesting characters. I love most of his movies but Oppenheimer is one of the worst things I've ever seen because it claims to rely on its dialogue and characters
it doesn't tho.
it relies on its pace. he makes the whole thing look and sound kinda magical. That's what good filmmakers do. They elevate stories and scripts.
I had to walk out after about an hour because the loud, constantly swelling music and muffled dialogue was giving me a headache. I thought it was just me
Unironically. He is the one remaining man capable of putting droves of people inside theaters without relying on a pre-existing IP but on his name alone. Flawed as he may be, he makes people still want to go watch movies.
>He is the one remaining man capable of putting droves of people inside theaters without relying on a pre-existing IP but on his name alone
He's mogged hard by Jim in that regard. >makes the highest grossing film of all time twice in a row with two original movies
How can Nolan even compete?
I doubt many people actually did the whole Barbenheimer meme, but you can continue your delusional ramblings. Maybe you'll get to lick Cameron's butthole someday.
>the only person in the year 2024 who can make all-white movies with people talking in rooms and making $1 billion >Cinemaphile still seethes
Give credit where credit is due. Oppenheimer was the best thing to happen to this industry in years regardless of the movie’s quality
>3 years wasted on Dunkirk
>3 years wasted on Oppenheimer
Just stay away from history, Chris.
>1 Billion at the boxoffice
>loved by audiences
>loved by critics
>loved by his peers
>loved by chuds
>loved by reeditors
>3 years wasted
anon...
None of that benefits me in any way, I just wanted a good movie.
Dunkirk was better
Don't forget tenet
This + Tenant.
Now that he’s done with ESG movies this next one is gonna be KIINNOOOOO
not since 2012

I went through a contrarian phase and he’s still shit to me. Bland ass hack with only one good movie
based.
disliking nolan is the real edgy cringelord cinephile phase that we all go through.
He’s a bad writer
who are these great innovative writers working in big production us movies?
No clue, but that doesn’t make Nolan any better. His dialogue is awkward and ill-paced, there’s a reason why most people get confused with his movies.
everyone is shit then
His brother is a good writer but he got rid of him for some reason
Im positive westworld is shittier than anything christopher wrote
>the moron that wrote westworld
yeah no he's fricking not
>there’s a reason why most people get confused with his movies.
unironically just low I.Q. it's not high art but it's easy to follow.
>His dialogue is awkward and ill-paced
You could hear the dialogue? Who are you, the bionic woman?
>When I was younger
>When Inception came out
Frick all the way off you fricking child
Inception came out almost 14 years ago you know.

He’s a horrific writer
>writes a shit script
>elevates it
Bravo??
You can have whatever opnion, but the sound mixing was objectively awful lol

He is the I.P
Thank capeshit and heath ledger dying for that

No one went to see Avatar because of his name. That's just delusional. The first one was a hit because of marketing and the digital & 3D gimmick.
And no one went to see Oppenheimer because of Nolan he was just lucky to ride the Barbie marketing wave
I doubt many people actually did the whole Barbenheimer meme, but you can continue your delusional ramblings. Maybe you'll get to lick Cameron's butthole someday.
Not only Barbie but the atomic bomb gimmick, so it was mostly Barbie marketing and atomic bomb interest not nolan lol
Sure thing Jimbo, time for your afternoon nap.
>you can market your way to $2.8b box office and $1b profit
Why doesn't even studio do it with every movie?
Well obviously you need a good movie that resonates with the audience too, but it's also about many aspects aligning in the perfect order.
Inception>Tenet>Interstellar>Oppenheimer>Memento>The Prestige>Insomnia>The Dark Knight>The Dark Knight Rises>Dunkirk>Batman Begins
He will never recover from this scene
somebody get this hothead out of here
It’s a funny meme but a bad scene. You newbies seriously need to lurk more
Recover? Best scene in cinema history.
Best On-Set Manager of the 21st Century.

sorry, couldnt hear that over the terrible sound mixing and bad casting.
