Do a metal gear solid and have jigsaw cure his cancer in secret then have him had surgery to change his face at the last moment and have him alive as the biggest surprise yet instead of prequels nobody cares about

This. They should just go fully moronic with it. Have Jigsaw being alive and reveal that he manipulated Hoffman behind the scenes or something and then just take the franchise to space and do something moronic. Saw 3D was already fricking ridiculous and cartoony, might as well go even further.

When Amanda decides to make traps that no one can survive. The beginning of the series and Saw X she has heart and cares about rehabbing people. when she died it was because she no longer followed the rules and did her own thing. Something happened that she lost her faith in the process

Not true. Saw 6 was a massive flop which is why Saw 7 had its budget cut to oblivion and was also the last one they made for 7 years. Jigsaw and Spiral were also flops hence why Saw X is now a giant fan service wank instead of continuing the storylines either film set up.

Saw 3D was originally supposed to be two films but after Saw 6 flopped they shoved them into 1 film and cut the budget which is why it looks extremely cheap and had 10 minute twist ending. It didn’t matter how much it made because paranormal activity was the new hot thing so Lionsgate didn’t want to make anymore.

Jigsaw performed fine financially, they recognized from the apathetic critical reception they wouldn't be able to build sequels from it. Spiral was both critically panned and a financial disappointment. Off the weekend results, adjusted for inflation Saw X is the worst performing Saw movie behind Spiral.

Purchasing power dwindles with inflation lil zoom zoom, you don't deflate Saw X's budget to compare it against the budget of previous entries. This being the second lowest opening in Saw history indicates how little the public give a shit about this series. To put in words your zoomer brain could perhaps more easily understand, aside from Spiral, the least amount of people bothered to watch this movie.

I struggle to believe that anyone can think this is a fair representation of Jigsaw's legacy, especially with the critical and box office success of Saw X and discussions about using the series as the foundation to bring together a cinematic universe that would almost undoubtedly deliver the best battle royale that fans of the genre (and the medium at large) have ever seen.

all of this is completely disconnected from the original. Saw shouldn't be remembered as part of a "battle royale genre" cinematic universe the same way First Blood shouldn't be remembered as part of an 80s action hero genre series.

Most aren't and yours isn't either. All it's ever used for is so argumentative people like you can stick words in people's mouths and argue against things that were never said in the first place because all you ever do is argue. I don't care if you think a sequel is "kick ass" or not so don't act like I'm the one saying your statements.

If you were in charge and held Nightmare to the same standard you are setting for Saw, would it be fair to say that Freddy vs. Jason would never have been made?

                Anonymous

I don't care whether or not Freddy vs. Jason was made. It shouldn't be what people remember the original movies as. You picked a decent example to use because Friday the 13th is remembered as the "scary Jason lumbering moron in a hockey mask" movie despite all of that coming from the sequels. Friday the 13th's "legacy" shouldn't be it's sequels and neither should any movie.

Well I wasn't making an argument against your personal taste. You are valid, in my opinion. I was making an argument against your line of reasoning in so far as its application in a real world setting would either bring people joy or deprive them of it. A lot of people like Freddy vs. Jason, myself included, and we are happy that it was made. As such, I wouldn't want to shut down the possibilities of the JigCU just because the original Saw exists and should be appreciated as its own entity.

                >I was making an argument against your line of reasoning
You were making an argument against something that wasn't said and you still are. It's like I'm talking to a brick wall. I don't care if sequels are made or not. I don't care if you like them or not. Make as many or as little as you want.

There should be a spinoff called SeeSaw set in a mega-trap kids playground.

Either Jigsaw is a supernatural entity now, frick it. Or (equally along the frick it lines) Jigsaw had a twin. An evil twin. An eviler twin. Frick it. These films are ridiculous, let's keep that shit going.

The JigBlade cinematic universe. A set of films with JigSword (English), JigZweihander (German) JigKatana (Fat American Weeb) and JigMachete (Mexican). They each have their origin films then have an Avengers style team up to take out the original JigSaw, for some reason.

SAW 11: An elaborate game that takes place inside an abandoned nuclear bunker. The test involves a group of serial killers forced to move through a maze filled with traps that force them to relive their most brutal kills. The floor of the maze is grated which allows the blood to drip down into a stream that forms a giant red swirl spiral. The final twist is that the entire game was a ritual created by John Kramer. John Kramer transfers his soul into the puppet just like Chuckie thanks to the ritual. He is now Jiggy forever.

His death was great because it was both karmic justice and totally unfair at the same time. He was a changed man, but the final part of his game required going through the same unfair judgment he had put others through. The fact that he regretted everything just made his death more agonizing for him.

At this rate it will become stale if its just the same circle of Jiggy putting regular people into traps. It'd be interesting to see him do a game where he rounds up a bunch of serial killers and forces them to move through some kind of game where they each have to confront aspects of their past crimes while possibly betraying each other.

Why was the fake kidnapping necessary in X? We're told it's to stay ahead of big pharma or whatever, but it's clearly meant to disorient John so he doesn't know where he is.

But why not just drive about Mexico city or the countryside for a few hours instead? You'd still get the satisfaction of John triangulating it's location using the antennae and towers?

Not Hoffman! Missing the point on why this movie is a success. I’d see a Kramer-Hoffman team up but Hoffman actor too old to play younger version. I’d before mini reboot at this point where ignore all Saws after 3, and Kramer isn’t dead

So the mark doesn't know the location, if the mark knows about the location they could at least have the authorities investigate to see if anything was left behind.

Yeah, I mean for the audience it'd be smoother to just have John look out the window and maybe say "how much longer will this take?" rather than a fake kidnapping that lasts and is resolved in 30 seconds.

Saw X is no different than the other ones, I don't get the positive reception. It's just as mediocre as the rest of these movies. Not saying you can't enjoy them but it's not very good and the plot is pretty silly.

      Anonymous

It's just because it's easily digestible for normies. It's a basic revenge story and tells it competently, present Saw IV, V, Jigsaw or Spiral to normies and ask them to recite what nonsense they just watched. There's no semblance of coherent story for them to even relay.

      >the plot is pretty silly.
That's the entire point. The stupider it gets the more fun it is. Sure, a lot of people watch these films for mindless gore, but a lot of people watch them as pseudo-comedies, and they're honestly great for them.

The JigCU is basically the best Hollywood idea i've ever heard. You just made a hugely profitable movie for $11 million. Yeah, you're going to spend some more on special effects and do some profit splitting, but you start out with the U grounded in the world of Saw where a somewhat low budget aesthetic and ability to deliver on time and on or under budget, add in a couple other baddies...and boom! You got a movie that can do $300 or $400 mill easy with room for continued upper band. Utterly genius.

I’ll see another Saw movie only if John Kramer in it and not some gay flashback. See Saw X showed how off the rails it went without him as the lead villain
