I always thought it was really cool that he asked his professor from college to direct ESB out of respect for him, never got why he didn’t come back for ROTJ though (also why he never got Spielberg involved).
Lucas will go down as one of the greatest creative minds of the century. Stoklasa will be forgotten in the next 5 years if not sooner
George won. Mike lost
Lucas created a modern day epic that rivals the Iliad/Odyssey in cultural impact and significance. Dudes probably lived one of the best lives too. I imagine future generations will revere his work.
Out of every creator that has "George Lucas'd" their original creation into dogshit nonsense, George Lucas probably did it in the least offensive fashion (except for the Padawan murders lmao)
She didn't save it she helped create it dumbass. All George wanted to do was make a Buck Rogers movie but he couldn't get the license. People with more talent than he has, including his ex wife, helped make a sci-fi western samurai movie. Otherwise Lucas would have just made an off brand Buck Rogers, like he did with Willow after he couldn't get the rights to The Hobbit
I rewatched the theatrical original trilogy this weekend and it was a lot of fun, thank you for making those movies and Indiana Jones.
I wish you didn’t shit on the original trilogy’s releases later on because I also enjoyed the prequels, it felt hypocritical from someone who advocated so heavily for the preservation of film in the past.
I am happy that fans have preserved your original works for years to come and I hope you will one day denounce your edits to the films, however I still respect you a lot.
i can't get over how fricking slothful and lazy lucas is in the prequel making-of footage. like, not only is he always sitting in his chair drinking coffee on set, he's slouched way the frick back like he's in a recliner. he doesn't even talk right, he sounds like he's half asleep
It’s pretty sad after rewatching Empire of Dreams and seeing the absolute work and passion he put into the original films (especially the first one, he almost had a stroke while making it).
It’s really cool seeing how he really researched every bit of the Hero’s Journey he absolutely could to the point of crafting his perfect mythos back then.
He had such a bad experience directing ANH that he ended up hating the process of directing. That's why he stayed behind the scenes during the remainder of the OT.
now that I've watched THX I can only think of George as the guy who hates that hes only going to be remembered for his take on childish old adventure serials, and that he hates himself for following the money. Not that THX was a masterpiece, but it was clearly made with more thought and depth than anything that came after
Empire Strikes Back is the best Star Wars film because Lucas didn't direct it.

Spielberg turned it down.
Not only did he not direct it, but he didn't write the screenplay either.
Lucas is a sellout
Chuds deserve death

I'm sorry
Say it loud, say it clear
Star Wars is for nerdy queers
I THOUGHT THAT HOWARD THE DUCK WAS A GOOD MOVIE.
The prequels are still shit.
Revenge of the sith your best movie. Such disappointed that u learn how to make it, only in the end of your career.

Your ex-wife understood Star Wars more than you, that’s why she won the Oscar and you didn’t.
>still believes the "George Lucas' wife saved star wars" myth
Leave this thread, you embarrassing goon.

You ruined cinema and if I had a time machine I would have killed you in 1972 and done the time

In my fantasy, Lucas gets Spielberg to direct the prequel trilogy in return for Dreamworks getting the rights to distribute. Everyone wins.
You should've gotten a character director for the prequels.
The Clone Wars was a mistake and the EU is the true canon.
Seethe, sellout.
I love Star Wars!

the quality the first 6 star wars movies are inversely proportional to the influence George Lucas had.
