The show even shows that as well. He'd certainly get to tag a long more often if he got to stay like that. Lunella could have tried to keep him around at home as well in his Devil Dogasaur disguise. I do like that in his ample spare time he has developed his own interests in art, but it's mostly just background stuff. Being able to have him just be around Lunella in her usual day to day life more often would have probably helped get him involved in the story more often.
I think it's funny that Devil Dinosaur is canonically trans but Marvel doesn't advertise it not because they're smart enough not to, but because nobody working there remembers.
