      > very Semitic friendly

He's the only guy in hw that dates to make fun of ((them)) like it's 1983. In fact the show has the balls to laugh and joke about literally everything, religious people, fat atheists, people of every color and race, even poc and israelites, and that's probably what I like the most about family guy.

Also, I honestly believe s1-3 Family Guy (pre cancelation) is pure adult animation kino, easily on par with Golden Era Simpsons

"If the Stars Should Appear" was a good and frankly superior retelling of "For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky".

I just watched this episode of Ted with Dennis because for some reason us leafs are being drip fed the Ted series every Thursday while you guys have all finished it, and that was the most heavy handed forum of political banter I've ever seen. It's like Seth just went on Twitter and copied and pasted arguments people have.

American Dad pretty good. Turns out he can make a decent sitcom if he doesn't just string together 15 cutaway gags.

The Orville was legitimately better than modern nuTrek. RIP in peace, Halston.

      > Better than modern nuTrek
I've heard this more than once, but after watching a few episodes of the Orville I have to assume this is more a criticism of nutrek than a praise of orville.

the first season starts out rough. You can tell he pitched the show as family guy in space. season 2 is good and season 3 is really good. My personal favorite was where they basically made a Dead Space/Horror episode.

I wonder if he knew he had to pitch it as a parody to skirt copyright, and then once it was established he knew he could pull back and just make his own Star Trek.

            Anonymous

It had nothing to do with copyright and more that's what the studio expected/wanted him to make and would allow, because that's what he done that makes money and is popular from him. Similar how tos was pitched as a western in space in order to get green lit by the studio, because westerns where the hot thing on TV at the time.

Yeah, that's fair. But he clearly just wanted to make his own Star Trek, not a parody, and it sheds that weight pretty quickly.

He's like the Jim Cornette of Star Trek. He's wrong about literally everything and is a shitty human being but an idiot savant when it comes to Trek and should be running it.

The Orville is good. It's a little too jokey at first, but it becomes more and more like 90s Star Trek as time goes on.

so was the orville just seth's star trek fanfiction turned into a live action show through trust fund band funding? honest question for anyone who watched it. i never watched it but seeing seth larping as a star trek character makes me recoil and cringe.

Pretty much, but in a good way. The whole thing is basically a love letter to TNG, and he does a better job than some current actual Trek writers.

As a huge Trekkie I liked it, it wasn’t perfect but it’s certainly better than what the franchise is doing currently. It’s a combination of episodes dealing with modern problems the same way trek did for the problems of its day and episodes that are basically remakes of trek episodes from across the old series

It was better as a comedy set in space with occasionally serious beats/tones. It sucks as a Star Trek carbon copy.
