Female nudity, 90s sci-fi anime like Outlaw Star and Victory Gundam had that

Actual exploration of cool, supernatural anomalous space stuff
The most fun part of sci-fi is just how weird and unexplained you can get with it but everyone just seems to resort to the same few ideas and it ends up just action/adventure in space with normal earth stuff that looks kinda alien, that's it

Rick and Morty does pretty crazy and interesting sci-fi stuff, but I guess you meant in a more serious tone?

Eh, Rick and Morty was never in the position to do interesting stuff
The early show was nearly exclusively a comedy and could get away with doing generic stuff if it did em in a way that's funny, and the new show is such a slog to sit thru that it doesn't matter what they do with the cool aliens because the whole thing is just interpersonal character drama focused

Yeah I'd like something more explorative, it doesn't need to be uber deep and emotional but I'd like a show that takes itself at least a little seriously and with some pride in it's world

OP here; this Tak artwork is fantastic, do you have more work that's similar?

Hard sci fi, that's literally it. Preferably about how humans eventually become space faring, a lot of sci Fi has stories set long after humans mastered flying to other planets, I want ones where humans are still taking their first shaky steps to doing so consistently.

For something more ambitious than humanity goes to space and solves normal problems but with whacky alien names attaches. To at least pretend they're doing some kind of thought experiment.

Science fiction without space. Everything in science fiction is
    >AYY LMAOS... BUT EXACTLY LIKE HUMANS!
and it fricking sucks. I want low scifi back

depends how the show is trying to be adult. If it just means being silly but being able to get away with more swearing and nudity...
Space station on the edge of civilized space that is full of outcast and people that pissed off someone in power and sent away to the ass end of nowhere to be forgotten. MC is someone determined to get out of there and is constantly butting heads with everyone else who's there and have accepted their place. Starts off as a goofy comedy in a similar vain of it's always sunny in Philadelphia but get's a bit more serious as the show goes on and the MC starts to find things and people he likes about the station but still has a desire to leave and make something of himself.

If you mean adult as something taking itself seriously...
War story in space similar to something like band of brothers but with kick ass action sequences that wouldn't be held back by props, sets, or background characters needed to make a battlefield feel like a battlefield. Human forces joining ally alien forces to fight off a common foe. Starts off focusing on the human army but after said foe proves to be stronger then anyone expected and shreds the ally forces they're forced to mix and match troops to remain combat effective. Near the end some humans are the only humans left in their rag tag parties and I'd love to have them feel isolated even while around allies just because the aliens would look and feel alien. As in they don't think or act human, at least to an extent that they'd be uncomfortable to be around for extended periods of time but their forced to stick with them as they're the only friend they got to watch their back.

I have this idea about a global catastrophy that forced humanity to space because their world was Terra formed by an outside alien force. There are also terraformed humans that rely on the new earth and the show explors the developments of the past 40 years since this event happened, how humanity adapted and their plans for saving earth. I wouldn't do any stupid twist like 'the invading aliens are just misunderstood' crap, but the results of the terraforming have put a large portion of humanity in a state where they can never go back to being human again so a lot of the drama comes from that.
