Scoob

This was supposed to be the start of a Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe, but it only lasted for one movie. What went so wrong?

      This.
It's amazing that Marvel literally showed everyone how to make a cinematic universe; you just make a number of solo movies that are decent to good, and then combine them together in one big finale movie, and every other studio immediately ignored them and went 'quick, make the big finale movie right now! Jam as many characters as you can into it! Don't worry about how nobody knows who the frick they are, just fit them in the movie somehow! Go go go!" And then it fails and they act like they have no idea how that's even possible, I thought people loved shared universes, look how much money Marvel made!

Now people are complaining that there's not connection to the big picture for marvel and wondering why is DC making random movies.

in fairness marvel themselves forgot how to do this.

Marvel is a unique entity because even though the MCU was very mediocre, audience simply refused to accept attempts by other companies to do the same thing. Lightning in a bottle.

This honestly, they just tried jumping right into "a cinematic universe" for no reason other than to say to their stockholders that "we're doing what Marvel is!!"

I don't even know if it's possible to create another MCU though, because movie theaters in the 2020s just aren't relevant enough to get that ball rolling from scratch anymore.

Supernatural did a Scooby Doo episode and it was amazing. The Scooby Doo live action movie was good fun. It's not that hard to nostalgia bait a kid's show and still do something right.

The movie came out in May of 2020. For some reason people just weren't going to movies in May of 2020.

If you are going to skip the build up then just go big right from the start.

    >Dude trust me, I work for the company.
The one time it was true and nobody believed it, then the trailer came out and all of what anon said was true.

    >write two versions of the script that would've lead to HB/Wacky Races cameos
    >wind up doing a movie where Snidely Whiplash saves Muttley from Hades and most of the cameos are waylayed to the end credits
    >AT&T left their mark on this movie by adding in the AT&T startup sound and a product placement gag with Blue Falcon

But, more importantly, everyone already made fun of the last two failures attempting to be a Cinematic Universe (Dark and DCEU).

Also, Disney's animation star was definitely crashing after Frozen 2 and Encanto. More people were demanding animation like Universal and Spider-Verse.

    >scrap all the hanna-barbera scenes so their only appearences in the movie are brief or removed all-together
    >greenlight a prequel holiday film, have it finished but tax write off it because money
    >decide that scooby doo actually SUCKS as a franchise as cancel multiple of it's other projects in development
    >also cancel other hanna-barbera projects in development, like the unannounced new yogi series, modern flintstones revival, and a jetsons project
    >also also cancel bye bye bunny and any other looney tunes project (coyote vs acme only barely survived because it was bought by distributor)
Warner Bros basically hates all their legacy IPs
