Why do these people always resort to 'writing' instead of other kind of film work like cinematography, production design, colorist.
Its always like "I wrote [film name]", "I'm the one that pitch this idea in writing [film name]" and not "i draw storyboard for this film" or "i became an editor for [film name]"
By being youtubers they are already attentionprostitutes, of course they aim for the most visible positions.
Because those jobs require technical skills that these people usually don't have and/or don't offer the recognition that they desperately want. Being a writer is more the kind of thing anyone can network their way into with no real experience or relevant qualifications. Cinematographers and editors are some of the most autistic (in a good way) people on the entire production, if they're good at their job then the shit they do may as well be black magic to the outside observer and if they're bad then the movie will be unwatchable. Drawing storyboards is something pretty much anyone could do but no one gives a frick about storyboard artists, it's like saying you're the 2nd 2nd AD or you're the locations manager but at least those jobs get some respect on set, a storyboard artist probably won't ever even see the set.
