I don't know where they're going with Mark's wife being Ms. Casey, or how they're going to write around the ending to get us back with the innies. Like why would Helly E. return to the severed floor? Why wouldn't Mark and Dylan get fired?

i'm gonna guess that season 2 starts with all of them in the real world and then it's gonna have them randomly switching between the innie and outtie personas

Best show I've seen in while. Adam Scott has to be in the top 5 underrated actors working today (along with Walter Ghoul Goggins) and Patricia Arquette was actually competent for the first time. They just wipe the innies. They just pretend Helly "exposing" Lumon at the conference was just a prank. Helen takes over since the Innies lost control, she gets back on stage and says "haha fooled ya".

There's probably a setting for "Give the Outties the memories of the Innies while maintaining the Outties as the dominant personality" that Milicheck hits so the Outties know what the Innies did.

          Anonymous

It's bait-and-switch to the conference members, but in the story it makes sense. The Innies lost control right at the end of the episode, so regular, Outtie Helly takes over while at the conference after being tackled off the stage by Cobel.

          Keep up homosexual.

            Outtie Helen*

Helen is the Outtie, Helly is the Innie. Helen regains control, Cobel tells her the Innies took control, Helen shakes it off and takes over the conference.

After the conference they go on the hunt for the rest of MDR.

Conference-wise Lumon would have to cover it up. No two-ways about it.

In terms of the Innies breaking out, all Lumon has to do is tell the Outties to just go to work as normal the next day and they’ll sort it out.

People say they preferred the “office mystery” aspect, why would you complain if they go back to that?

                Anonymous

Just a red-herring to confuse and scare the Innies.

Lumon intentionally fosters an air of mystery and fear for the Innies, eg. making different paintings of the departmental wars. You really think there's a functional purpose of a man feeding baby goats in a random room?

                Anonymous

No, until I saw that Cobell had one along with all her other paraphernalia. Wasn't there goat head demon symbolism in the paintings and the weird waffle orgy too? Is it all just Lumon misdirection?

                Half misdirection.
Half Lumon weirdness mirroring Bilderberg group/elite cabal weirdness.

The value of google isn't what people search but how people search. The way they search, the things they've been exposed to that made them search, what they do after, etc. You then use that to work backwards to control people.

There is always a chance, but it really feels like Westworld situation, where someone has a brilliant idea, but then is told to fallow it up.

Another problem is that the great critique of office culture and open sapce cancer can be lost in overarching story, from the hell IT people know into just some s-f show.

  26. 2 weeks ago

    Not even gonna bother.
It's clear from season 1 they had no idea what they were doing. They very obviously came up with an outstanding premise, but then the writers didn't know what to do with it.
And the structure of it all was awful. Nothing happens every episode until the final 30 seconds, when something finally does happen JUST to make you tune in to the next episode, where it repeats all over again.

The show posits that they're "separate people", since the Innie doesn't have the Outties memories nor does it "live" outside of Lumon.

Technically it is just yourself, but the show pretends it's a separate person, and in Helen's case the Innie actively works against what Helen wants.
