What's with all the boobs. Some episodes there's no boobs and solid soldiering action. Other episodes there's just heaving bosoms spilling out if corsets and girls getting stripped for the audience.

What is this?
Sharpes Challenge
Part of a tv series from the 90s and Aughts. It's mildly racist and trashy. Sean Bean is a trooper though and elevates the material.
homie u gay
Elizabeth Hurley is very attractive and I know they're all professionals. That said, they HAD to know they were making trash in this scene.
Sharpes Enemy is ridiculous on many levels (Post did a fine job as the antagonist, no lie), but Fatheringale's daughter was pimped out the entire episode for the camera. Post literally has to cover her bosom multiple times during certain scenes because her areola would slip otherwise. It's jarring.
Other episodes are more tame but still male gazey (Sharpes Waterloo). Then you get to hack jobs in the OP like Sharpes Challenge. Just phoned in trash at that point.
>Other episodes are more tame but still male gazey
Frick off back to whatever subreddit your homosexual ass crawled out of.
Frick off coomers
This show was made before the advent and degeneracy of porn yeah, so widespread public wasn't speaking in homosexual terms like you are or living with shame or guilt in their closet so gay they have to be afraid of sex or anything related to sexual imagery. In the past only radical religious zealots would act or speak in this manner. This is a show about men. It's about men who live without tomorrow and the sight of a woman was a priviledge and a blessing. In fact many of the men of the past in such situations, besides sexual thoughts, would also consider ladies from the court visiting them a sign of good fortune.
>This show was made before the advent and degeneracy of porn
Wait do you actually think porn is some novel thing that was only just invented within the last 20 years?
High speed, widespread, incredibly accessible and normalized pornography usage and overstimulation was invented within the last 20 years and it's been getting worse. Zoomies today don't know that for most people to even see porn you either had to pay for it, unless you caught it on the telly on weekends. VHS tapes, magazines. None of these things compare to the porn available today, it's not even a competition.
Honestly sounds like you are just projecting shit because you are obsessed with porn. It's perfectly reasonable to criticize the episodes that hamfist in sexual themes and imagery for not fitting the usual style of the series.
Nobody is projecting anything here. These are the facts. The guidelines for Motion Picture Association film rating system back then comparatively speaking to the standards today, genuinely cannot compete whatsoever. The standards have changed, there was nothing wrong with sexual themes in Sharpe because it was Rated R for language throughout and some sexual references.
Now if you compare the times and the accessibility of tech and it's influence on mass media, you will quicky realize that there is absolutely nothing wrong with it and you are the only one with issues here.
Get lost peeper.
>but still male gazey
>series about a swashbuckling no-nonsense squaddie who goes around shagging noblewomen and fighting le crapauds
What did you expect?
You will never be a woman.
>male gazey
Rot
This is post-ironic trolling right?
>no, it's ironic trolling post
Good grief the degeneracy on the red dude
Me in the middle holding my penis
>Hugh Fraser as Sir Arthur Wellesley, Lord >Wellington
Good Lord!
Shameless
Post the whole thing
That is the entire frame. The director wanted to do sleaze but must have felt he needed to "keep it classy".
this is the biggest issue with the series, all of the nudity is slightly cropped off or only visible for a fraction of a second.
>girls getting stripped for the audience.
Sounds like HBO, Showtime or Starz show.
Cinemax and HBO were bigger offenders imo. Sharpe is mostly well done before it was run down by carelessness. Never much touched the books.
It was the fashion of the time
The India ones aren't as good because the those books take place chronologically before the Iberian campaign books. Sharpe's happy ending breeding that French broad and living on a farm in Normandy is taken away.
There was one Sharpe book that took place in 1820 where Sharpe and Harper go to Chile and take part in the Chilean Revolution and meet Lord Thomas Cochrane, but I don't know if that book was written yet.
so this was a bunch of good tv movies that they showed as a tv series? did they split them to 30 minutes?
They're all abou 100-140 minutes
Why didn't Sharpe go back for his daughter after the war?
She was a BASTARD
I always wanted to watch Sharpe but which ones do I watch?
Its a tv show. You watch episode one, then episode two, then episode three, and continue in that fashion
moron
But if it gets shitty towards the end like some anons are saying, which ones are worth watching? We got Mr Clockmeister over here with all the time in the world
>which ones are worth watching
All of them so you can form your own opinions, its really not that much. The quality does decline a bit near the end but thats just because the first bunch were absolutely fantastic, its still worth watching all the way through.
>We got Mr Clockmeister over here with all the time in the world
Black person, just don't browse Cinemaphile for several hours and watch some Sharpe movies. Jesus fricking Christ.
Season 1 -5 are decent overall. There a few dud episodes but it's mostly procedural in structure so you can hop around to the battle scenes and war intrigue.
6 and 7 are not good seasons imo
why was there no episode called Sharpe's dog where Sharpe got a dog?
I REALLY don't want a full remake of this but it could use some (competent) cgi touching up. They did a fantastic job with what they had but sometimes its hard not to notice that the huge battle scenes meant to be depicting 10s of thousands of men are just 50 dudes hanging out in a field somewhere
Basically he's getting the gold and the virtue when she returns
>Sharpe turned down this sassy french waifu for his new wife even when he thinks she'll be dead before he gets home
>wife turns out to be satan incarnate and completely disloyal to the point he has to keep her actively watched to prevent her from cheating
Sharpe deserved better
No one expects hoes to be loyle
This may be an alien concept to your zoomer brain but up until 2016 it was perfectly normal to have large-breasted women running around tv shows because straight men like looking at big titty b***hes.
Sharpe "Season 1" is quite comfy. The 90s one in general are much better off I'll admit
That's how women dressed in ye olden times.
euros love pointless nudity
What are you, some kinda poofter?
Friends at Court
Everything you're taking issue with is cannon to the books.
who /curtis/ here?
