women think their existence is a reason to be praised in of itself
this behavior gets reinforced from puberty until they hit the wall, after which they experience cognitive dissonance
it’s part of the reason they seethe at muh representation while believing they don’t need to put any effort in representing themselves. Society is always at fault, men are always at fault, but not me. To be at fault you have to actually do something substantial first. Women are devoid of substance, they’re pure appearance in a metaphysical sense.

He isn't entirely wrong. Even if we're to ignore an appeal to nature argument, nurture is obvious enough. From birth we teach girls that merely doing things "while being a girl" is cause for celebration. First girl to do this or that etc. That it's somehow momentuous that they're doing well in school or getting a job or really anything because "being a girl is hard." It's really not, the entire system is feminized and designed to support them, the end result being that boys are more challenged and end up well rounded and humble while women are prideful and entitled.

You won't see this behavior from women in harsher places like India. They're more like men, humble and accountable.

yet normies, especially women still believe you are given the keys to the world when the doctor sees you have a penis. They are blind to the droves of men dying, committing suicide or just living in quiet desperation. They think every guy is a CEO.

Female attention is effortless, they don't need to entertain, they are the ones being entertained to.
When a guy wants attention it means we need to entertain and make an effort.

The post wall Stacy losing her only asset and realizing she was never interesting is what makes a Karen. Classic tale as old as time. It's why they're so upset that nobody worships the ground they walk on, to them, being spoken to like a normal person is insulting and they lash out in anger in what they feel is an indignity.

Because the greatest way for a woman's life to progress is by getting social attention. We've all heard stories of woman getting plane tickets, help with rent, basically free food for a month, easier placement into jobs, or otherwise savior from debt simply because a men finds them sexually attractive. Should a woman work 200hrs+ to afford her 3rd out of country vacation that year or shake her ass in the direct of a 6'2 engineer?

My favorite part is where she has him quit as partner in his successful highly lucrative new company he founded just because she wanted to stay working in an office with him her whole life, then when she felt guilty she went behind his back and secretly negotiated with his friends and business peers to be made partner again. Forcing him to quit was his awful enough but to infantilize him by going to his friends and making the career he actually earned ‘her little gift to him’ has got to be the most narcissistic thing of all time. And now instead of just being a badass who founded a company and won because he deserved it, his entire job is now a ‘special surprise’ his wife made herself in charge of getting him, fricking destroying and rebuilding his life behind his back, and subordinating Jim to his friends and business partners because now his career is something they and his fricking wife ‘let him have’, as a sweet kind thing to do. Its not bad, but it looks more like practice than completed pieces. Her still lifes are boring and dull and her buildings look like they came from an architectural survey. The cup is the only one that seems like she attempted something, and the use of color is somewhat interesting. This is supposed to be an exhibit where you display your best works and hopefully sell one, and she shows up with crinkly pieces of printer paper. Michael Scott bought the building for a couple hundred. Which one would you buy and for how much?

No it's because she's water painting on PRINTER PAPER which is soaking up the liquid and wrinkling as a result.
It's part of the joke that she's using paper from work. But if she did even just 5 minutes of research she would have found out you need a specially treated canvass that can soak up the paint.
          So it's blatantly amateur practice.

This has to be bait but I'll bite
You can literally buy all your water color supplies for less than $10 and a canvas for $5 and they're at EVERY craft store in any Podunk town. This is specialty supplies this is basic supplies.
You wouldn't start building a bird house out of paper mache and gum and complain that you didn't have access to specialty tools when it falls apart in the rain would you?
When you're a beginner you use the right tools for the job and only when you're confident with the basics do you "experiment" with alternative supplies and methods. Pam wasn't too poor to afford a canvas she just didn't understand.

I think she was going for a medium thing. The subjects of the paintings are objects from her printer paper selling life, so they are painted on printer paper. It's still shit though. If she was a real artist she wouldve just printed stock photos on printer paper. Better yet, bring the printer along and encourage people to take copies as an interactive piece of art.

      >>Its not bad, but it looks more like practice than completed pieces.
Why? Are you sure you aren't confusing the medium of watercolor for "amateurish" because you grew up on moronic conceptart.org digital "oil" paint style?

      >But if she did even just 5 minutes of research she would have found out you need a specially treated canvass that can soak up the paint.
Why? Let me guess, your favorite "artist" Youtuber told you that and even left a link to it in the description?

They're actually decent attempts at model paintings for a beginner but the issue is Pam did a thing once and believed herself deserving of immense attention because of it, which is exceptionally common among woman. They're so used to excessive praise just for existing that woman lack the self-awareness to actually accomplish something.

This plotline was pretty good, actually. Provided Michael a good character moment when he buys her art, but was also a realistic depiction of someone who has dreams but not the talent to realize it. Pam gave up on this and embraced being a corporate cog, moving from reception to salesperson. Other more modern shows would be like “Pam is a genius artist” and there’d be some bizarre one-off rich character who would spend millions on it

      Anonymous

You're spot on, I also think it's a jab at delusional people who dream about fame before they put in the work.
Pam wants to do "art", she wants to take an art course, and does this grand gesture of having an entire gallery up of all her work and all it shows is that she hasn't put in enough time.
But she's incapable of self reflection, to realize she's not putting in enough practice time, yet she still rented out a gallery to sell her paintings.

It reeks of someone who wants fame, but doesn't understand the commitment it takes to stand out. Her interest in water color art is passing at best.
And in this moment she doesn't think her art is worth selling to even Michael because she realizes she didn't take her art seriously enough to be worth selling to anyone. That's why she gives it up.
Pam is just like any other millenial who see creative hobbies as methods to fame and riches. Instead of using them for self actualization - creative expression, she's just using it for her ego and for money.

        >and does this grand gesture of having an entire gallery up of all her work and all it shows is that she hasn't put in enough time.
it was a show put on as part of the art class she was taking, presumably all of the students were showing their progress and it was an event for family and friends.

My mistake but I've witnessed these student art galleries in person at college. And you can really see the disparity between someone who only doodled in class and reached the level of a beginner gamer webcomic telling relatable jokes.
Vs seeing awesome concept art that will go on to be used in Hollywood and video games.

          >practice time
          lol
the talentless genuinely believe that more time will make them less talentless

Talent is just having an eye for detail, an inherent knowledge of what works and what doesn't. But even then they still need to practice. Pam doesn't have talent nor did she practice. She's not actually serious about her art hence why she's never gotten past this amateur level.

People have been discussing office characters for a decade because they're well written people with lots of depth. But they're all with issues and we can see an actual person inside.
Pam is a reflection of a person everyone knows, or understands.
A bit of Pam's personality is in all of us.
She hates where she is in life but can't see an exit strategy so she wants something that will help her escape

She takes on a creative outlet, which is great because many people need one. But she does what every person understandably does, which is let a fantasy take over.
"Imagine I get so good at art i can quit my job and live off my art!! Then I'll be rich and interesting!"
Everyone has this idea. It's not bad but it's self indulgent. Most people realize it's unrealistic to quit their job and take an expensive college course. It's not like college courses actually teach real art, it's the worst scam next to gender studies.
Pam's art is understandable, we've all been there. In this criticism I'm not saying she's dumb, I'm not saying I'm better. I'm saying I get it. it tells an important message about how people view art, not as a method of expressing feelings or some other gay shit, it's that millenials view art as a means to an end, to escape working and to become an interesting person.

Most people in the thread just want to dunk on artgays. I don't even think the premise was "a joke." It was played for character development and to have a sweet moment between her and Michael. Her art isn't terrible, it's just obvious she is new. This is also a pivotal time where you have to accept that you suck and push through to get better. If anything it shows that her instructors are pieces of shit for not telling her to matte and frame her artwork and telling her to ditch the stapler and coffee mug and just stick with the other 4. If her school was worth a shit they would have had a student show where everyone is basically at a similar level and the expectation of the show is that it's for the class and they are new artists. The sad part is that she gives up after barely trying.

Cinemaphileners hate people, more news at 11. But nah, I don’t think it’s dunking on artgays, it’s dunking on insincere positivity which seems to predominate the art world. Criticism can be useful, and if you push past your ego being temporarily bruised and continue working despite the a real critical reception, that’s often the best way to improve. It’s the first trial by fire that people face when pursuing their passions and developing them into strengths, and in order to seem more compassionate (emphasis on SEEM rather than be) we’ve collectively tried to eliminate trials by fire. But trials by fire are usually the best way to burn away mere hobbyists and bring out real artists.

Pam isn't doing art because she enjoys art. Shes using it as a vehicle to escape wageslaving as a secretary.
She's not skilled enough to make it through art school because she sees her effort compared to people who are serious and genuinely interested in pursuing art no matter what.
And the reason she quit doing art is because she never cared about it to begin with, it was always a means to an end.
Just like so many people want to be actors because it comes with fame and riches. But directors aren't picking out any random guy off the street. They're looking at people who work in theatre on stage who enjoy the process even if there's little to no money involved. That's where art stems from, a genuine enjoyment of the process and creativity.

Well, I'll reword it. She's not going to make it after 1 year of effort. But as

She gives up before she ever really started. It's actually incredibly common. I had a life drawing class and there was this girl there who was struggling and being self deprecating like it was a reflection of her character. You're taking ONE class and you expect for everything to just click in a couple of months? People give up from fear rather than a lack of talent. Every few art classes are like that. People beat themselves up and just give up entirely because they think you have to be a natural.

Says it takes time. Pam just gives up because she wanted an easy escape. She "could" theoretically keep doing art and make money but she'll be old by then.
Why can't she just keep doing art without the prospect of being paid? If she truly enjoyed art she'd be doing it regardless if it made her any money. But we know that's not Pam's intention.

          >Pam isn't doing art because she enjoys art. Shes using it as a vehicle to escape wageslaving as a secretary.
These are both true and stated explicitly multiple times in the show. The point being that she wants a job she enjoys and is passionate about, rather than being a secretary which has no meaning.

I find it really psychologically interesting that you're claiming otherwise. I mean you had to ignore large chunks of the show to write this deranged rant. Seems like you have some issues you need to work out.

First off, you didn't need to write "psychology" before saying my statement was interesting.
And your first statement contradicts your second. You're saying I'm right and that my point is stated multiple times throughout the show, but now you're saying I'm staying otherwise?
I think you just lack reading comprehension... and generally any English comprehension. My impression is that you're must young.

She didn't quit her fricking job, "moron". It's becoming more and more obvious that you've never seen the show with every post

This. People project a lot into art, which is ironically the point lol.

At least millennials have a fricking dream. Boomers literally just watch TV while their house goes up in value and zoomers are too soulless to feel anything from looking at or making art.

That's some military grade seething. Projecting onto boomers when nobody mentioned them? Your post is basically off topic.
And millenials are far worse than boomers when it comes to art. It's just a medium for income to the . I think most millenials were more struck with delusions of fame than any previous generation before them.

Doesn't art come from years of practice? What can be learned at art school that you can't pick up from a few books and youtube tutorials.

        >the only talented and later prominent artist I met there dropped out (Anna Park)

It's a delusional fantasy to think art school will make you an artist. It's a scam. Like straight up, joining a club or watching Bob Ross wil provide more fundamental knowledge than some grifters asking for thousands of dollars hand over fist to show you YouTube tutorials.

It all comes down to the quality of the professors. Some professors are really cool and there is value in having someone there to share experience just like anything else. The price of the school though isn't a guarantee. A painting teacher at a community college might have a lot more wisdom and be a better mentor than some dipshit at a prestigious university. Art education is just really fricked up in general but it's not totally useless or invalid.

Did Jenna Fischer do all of it herself? That would make more sense for why they wouldn't get a professional to shit out some watercolors in an hour or two.

Yes, this is a common occurrence among artists, especially since it's a difficult industry to get in hence why her work is good, but nothing special and she realizes this over several seasons. Did you even watch the show or do you have the IQ of a kindergartner and missed the point?

i see why he was rejected from art school. look at the perspective on the woman on the bottom right. move her 10 feet closer to the building and her head would be reaching the 2nd floor window

        Anonymous

Him being rejected doesn't so much had to do with the quality of the work on his postcards, everyone understood that he was a young man on the grind. The issue is that that's all he had going for him. Oh here's a picture of a castle in Bavaria, here's a street in Vienna, the berlin reichtag, etc. Meanwhile other artists are doing genuinely crazy shit like pic related and actually exploring what art even was on a fundemental level. Hitler got so assblasted by this fact that he seethed about it for the rest of his life.

No. Its something you learn about at like age 10. You don't need to go to some fancy vienna school to learn about perspective. Its literally just drawing lines to one or more vanishing points and that helps you line things up windows properly and making sure the size of people make sense. While Hitler was sitting around struggling to even do that shit Dali, at age 6, was painting stuff like pic related.
