Jackson looked out with the trilogy, can't say the same about the hobbit though, that shit sucked. I couldn't even be bothered to watch the last two movies despite being a huge Tolkien fan.

The only part of Rings of Power I enjoyed was when the orc stabbed the young female villager. Just the look of pain and horror on her face as she realized it was over for her and she sank helpelssly to the floor. They killed her for no reason just to make a point. I stopped caring about this show the moment Galadriel just jumped off a boat to swim thousands of miles back to Middle Earth (while circumstantially meeting Sauron in the middle of the ocean, though we didn't know that yet). As someone who powered through the whole season, she wasn't the problem. The problem was the writing. The direction was actually pretty classy most of the time. The chinaman director guy was good too. The problem is that the story fell apart as it went along, until by the finale it was just embarrassing.

So ROP s1 = the first half of FOTR where it is just some walking, talking and a couple of small action scenes then they get to the council of Elrond where the real plot begins. This is where S2 starts.
