It kinda worked for The Boys, but they're taking the kino from Invincible with this approach.
The Boys falls apart in the first season. Butcher's wife isn't dead, Homelander's bastard son is alive/doesn't matter, & Homelander is just evil from the onset rather than just being a douchebag butthole who becomes unhinged through blackmail eating away at him. They literally just want him to be their idea of Trump from the get go. Invincible is kinda trying to do the same story beats but rushes the pacing so there's no build up. There's no reason for it or the race swaps in both shows.
Oh they'll do it. It's THE moment that will get people talking about the show again. The real question is how they'll show it. Will it be hot? Will they cut away before it starts? Will they take it farther than the comic like Nolan's slaughtering of innocent people during his fight with Mark?
