She-Hulk director responds to criticism about the show's CGI

So Marvel has realized that people aren't falling for "It's not finished yet, it'll look better in the final product" so they're pivoting to "If you think it looks bad you're wrong, everyone saying it's bad is just a hater".

One thing I notice a lot from liberals is they use the excuse "it's not for you!" But then never say who it is for as the show or whatever continues to bomb. Ms. Marvel comes to mind the best as it's bombing hard, yet no one can seem to want to make claim that the show is for them.

The best part is IIRC muslims hate it because they feel like she's not actually properly muslim. I wonder if the director wanted to film her with forced perspective rather than CGI or was just so lazy that she didn't care

Nah I've seen some Twitter people claim it's for them and makes them feel "legitimized" which in think speaks to a much bigger problem in their lives

As soon as the first episodes roll in. They'll go for the "the CHUDS can't take a stronk wahmen who needs no men and isn't there to give them a boner".

One thing I notice a lot from liberals is they use the excuse "it's not for you!" But then never say who it is for as the show or whatever continues to bomb. Ms. Marvel comes to mind the best as it's bombing hard, yet no one can seem to want to make claim that the show is for them.

Like the nu-Star Wars doublethink. It's the best thing ever, it's deep, it's mature, it subverts your expectations... until you point how bad it is. Then it's "um sweatie, it's literally space wizards. It's made for kids. Lower your expectations will ya?"

So will this have more or less viewers than Ms. Marvel?

The debut will have a lot of viewers because Hulk is a much popular hero than Ms. Kebab and people might be expecting a hot, buff green woman doing interesting things, but as soon as they get that all they're getting is female Shrek lawyer they'll drop it.

I didn't watch anything after The Last Jedi, not even The Mandalorian, but I've seen snippets of these new films and series like Solo or Boba Fett in reviews, and It's like pottery. Whenever something really stupid happens, like the Leia chase scene or th Power Rangers in Boba Fett, they immediately go that way. "H-hey guys, do you remember the Wookies in RoJ? Star Wars was ALWAYS silly!"

Of course as soon as Disney presses the Darth Vader emergency button they're back talking about how serious and deep the series is.

Its not just that. Multiple scenes her lighting and shadowing is completely different to the scene which makes her look out of place. Her animations in a few shots are also way too stiff and fast. They would have had a far better result just doing the makeup on a taller more muscular woman and shooting around the height.

Considering their mismanagement of VFX artists has been trending lately, they're going to struggle to justify it in any way. That being said I think the negativity around She-Hulk's CGI is massively overblown.

      Anonymous

Overblown for sure, but there should be no alleviation of criticism of how they treat the CG artists. It's part of why everything Marvel makes looks like shit. They don't want to pay unionized set, costume and makeup designers, so they farm out everything to CG sweatshops and crunch them until they burn out. If CG artists banded together and unionized, Marvel would go bankrupt overnight.

        Anonymous

It's crazy how they do everything with CGI so they don't have to make up their minds about the visual elements until after they're done shooting. The most recent films look like collages of random vfx assets, there's no coherent visual style to any of it.

          Anonymous

The problem is that there's no vision at the start of these projects at all. After all, why bother making coherent storylines, meaningful dialog, or memorable visuals if you have such powerful brand recognition that people will see your shows and films regardless of quality? So they don't have clear, consistent goals at the start, then frick the CG artists around to change things, like a 13 year old on DeviantArt buying his first commission.

        Anonymous

There are plenty of VFX vendors who will be happy to throw their sweatshop at Disney's feet

They can easily pull off the "well intentioned but immature professional" angle. After all She-Hulk is essentially a Jekyll and Hyde type of story. Speaking as a leftist: frick liberals. "It's not for you" just means the show does a poor job of bringing the viewer on board with the characters, setting and story. If Disney wants to do representation right, it should be firing on all cylinders with quality writing and visuals. But they don't bother because their Disney, and even their weakest performing films and shows turn profit now. So the show ends up being weak and internet chuds say shit like "GWGB", and that leads to liberals starting arguments on Twitter defending the all-powerful corporation.

For all the talk about LGBT representation Disney haven't really done any yet. I guess Valkyrie counts, in Love and Thunder they referred to her old girlfriend, but they don't actually show her being in a lesbian relationship because that would be too much. Also America Chavez in Multiverse of Madness, everyone thought he character was going to be queer but instead she has two moms that we only see in one flashback. It's like they'll acknowledge queerness as existing but they won't actually show it.

No, a lot of us get it, it's crystal clear, so clear in fact that you can pinpoint the cut marks on the final movies. Hell, even Lightyear had a brief moment of hesitation before two adult women kissed each other on the cheek where you could see how it could be snipped out for overseas distribution. But hey, fascists countries that subjugate LGBT people also have money, why not fricking cater to them by burying our gays?

Is there some rule that they couldn't just do a flashback? Did they think it would confuse the audience? It's so disappointing to compare this movie to Spider-Man 2 which was a lot more inventive and playful with how it got information across.

In Spider-Man 2 they show Peter having a conversation with his deceased uncle in his mind without explaining it in dialogue, they trust the audience to understand. In MoM they have a speaker explaining "This is the flashback machine! It shows you images from you past!"

One thing I notice a lot from liberals is they use the excuse "it's not for you!" But then never say who it is for as the show or whatever continues to bomb. Ms. Marvel comes to mind the best as it's bombing hard, yet no one can seem to want to make claim that the show is for them.

"it's not for you" is complete bullshit, because the argument only ever goes one way and not the other
        >release a movie/game/show with obvious SJW propaganda (bonus points for being a revival of a dormant IP)
        >"Uh SWEETY, IT'S NOT FOR YOU!"
        >release a movie/game/show without SJW propaganda
        >"THIS IS AN INSULT, YOU NEED TO CHANGE THIS TO APPEAL TO *ME*!"

the hypocrisy is the main thing that pisses me off about it, either stop using that phrase or accept that other media is "not for you" and l eave it the frick alone
I don't go to the Barbie producers and demand they fill it with guns and action because the media is not for me, and that's fine, but it CONSTANTLY happens in the other direction, where something exists and SJW's go "that character is ableist/sexist/racist!" and EVERY SINGLE TIME it turns out that the person who complained is just projecting their own personal insecurities onto a character

I've been reading She-Hulk for almost 20 years. For me it's
    >fat ugly Titania
    >making her too much like Banner in terms of motivation
    >lazy VFX
    >nothing recognizable in it of the character and setting I love(where's Wyatt Wingfoot or Mallory Book?)

Seeing her work in Orphan Black and Ginger Snaps 2, I think Tatiana Maslany would make a GREAT Jennifer Walters. The D+ series is being written by a israeli American Princess millennial feminist and any passion involved in the project is probably going towards the "message" rather than the character. I have all the She-Hulk omnibuses and even have some Marvel Legends figures posed on my desk at work. I should be nutting in my pants and going into fits of ecstasy whenever more news about this drops. Instead it just feels disappointing.

These dykes especially the showrunner and Victoria Alonso don't understand the criticism.
She-Hulk has to be ultra sexy, ultra hot and when Disney put the extremist islamic dyke Victoria Alonso the result is what everyone saw and became a bad meme, after Brie Larson's ass became a meme Disney did not learn, people want to see hot and sexy women this She-Hulk "live action" looks like a twisted vision of a dyke mind of how sexy a woman is in their blind eyes needs to look so many yikes

Well, let's tell the truth? If women and MEN were in this tv show, straight men of course the result would be very different, for example in the pic related She-Hulk would have a different hairstyle, because in all the scenes She-Hulk has the same hairstyle, her hair doesn't even move, she would have her hair tied up with ponytails, a bigger neckline, show her arms, make up, have an earring that women like and israeliteelry on her arms and hands, she has none of this and the superhero look with that trunks does not sell a heroine of today, it does not look like the classic She-Hulk in any way

Every time people pointed out a inconsistency due to his claim that "this is the movie andy watched," he'd come up with another excuse as to why the toy and the lore about the toy doesn't match this film.

            Anonymous

The fact the movie looks nothing like a 90's space movie just can't be surmounted no matter what he says.

It doesn't matter that there was a cute robot cat that Andy might have wanted instead.

It doesn't matter that there was an inter-racial lesbian couple in a (supposed) 90's children's movie.

It doesn't matter that the movie was made by some jackass who said "I want to do Intersteller too!" (Since I doubt the person who wrote the movie got their time dilation plot point from all the other scifi properties that utilized it decades prior)

The show's alright, on par with Marvel's other forgettable chunks of entertainment on D+, but tbh I pictured Kamala differently. Cuter, more waiflike, specifically. Dumpy girls aren't as endearing.

The only way to do a good She-Hulk on a TV budget would be using makeup and perspective tricks/body doubles to make the actress appear to change size, unfortunately the MCU production model is based on doing everything in post production so we get this CGI uncanny valley rubbery looking She-Hulk.

The only she-hulk I've ever watched was in like two episodes from the hulk animated show from what I think was the 90s.
The thing that mostly stood out from watching those episodes was that even though it was Hulk's show, she-hulk stole the show simply by having a personality.
Also, is there a reason she doesn't power down like hulk and can keep her form all the time?

      >Also, is there a reason she doesn't power down like hulk and can keep her form all the time?
Okay so here's the thing you need to understand about Hulk as a franchise. It's about your inner demons becoming your externalized.
Bruce has Dissociative Identity Disorder which is why Hulk is a different person and he can't control it. He was abused as a child, so the most well known Hulk turns into a giant super strong guy that can't get hurt but has the mentality of a child.
Jennifer on the other hand, isn't NEARLY as fricked up psychologically. Her big deal was essentially "she wasted her college years studying" and kind of fading into the background so her Hulk form is just her idealized self; an extroverted model that's impossible to ignore. She CAN power down, but she often doesn't want or need to because there's no real benefit. There was even a story for a while where she thought she was locked into her Hulk form but Reed Richards said "no b***h you just don't want to change back."
There's also Leonard Samson, who is a psychologist himself and well balanced mentally, so all he gets is more green hair and muscles.

I agree with both of those things. I also never mentioned her sexuality at all. I think Jen's characterization is about introversion and self doubt versus extroversion and confidence. She's still fundamentally the same person, whereas Bruce is a far more apt Jekyll and Hyde scenario as his alters are much further from him.
