When you see the behind the scenes and or understand the process behind the making of something, it makes you appreciate it more, you can see things you never noticed before, it makes you imagine the possibilities or chances a movie/show could have taken, in their case is not just saying "this is good this is bad", but guessing how something was achieved, why X looks like Y, it gives a name to all the sort of clues that you consciously or unconsciously pick up but have a hard time naming.
