She looks nasty as fricking hell, even ancient Jodie Foster, with a moronic dyke hair-cut is mogging her. I to like the idea of women being naked, or half naked as well, but that doesn’t mean the ugly, old, or fat ones are included in that desire. The point of the nudity is to appreciate more of the beauty that was being hidden away. If they are haggard, or nasty, forcing us to see more of their haggard or nasty bodies doesn’t enhance the situation. That old b***h should wear a bag, or a burka to cover up that face if anything. Anyways, jerk off before visiting Cinemaphile next time anon.

              >So why did the native platoon of women wait 7 years to kills the scientists?
I don't believe they even suspected the scientists until that older woman, the one who tells the story and is the HORRIBLE actress, found the hatch in the floor while cleaning. From there, the cleaning crew women accessed police files and correctly analyzed the murder weapon. Then they just assumed all the scientists were guilty of the murder, not ONE of them may have been taking a shit upstairs while it happened. Nature judged them correctly, as nature always does. They were brave and beautiful and you should have listened to them.

      NTA, but moreover:
Wouldn’t the fact Clark is found frozen right outside the station after this torture video is released raise some questions about its veracity? If the Tuttles are meant to be megacorp, could they not shut down outside inquiry of the mine before they clean the data?
Obviously I’m doing too much thinking for the hellish world of Night Country, but one can dream of an age when women aren’t allowed to touch a pen.

The mine may have only continued operating in Ellis, to cover up and assist the research station’s project.
Once the research station’s entire crew was dead, and one scientist was on video talking about the pollution levels, the research project was dead, so there was no reason to keep the mine operating.

Also, the plot involved ancient parasites or something.

I like how the injun woman tries to pretend that the Tsalal men would survive blizzard conditions in the middle nowhere during the Alaskan winter. "They'd be half-frozen, but alive" Yeah no, the most they were wearing were sweaters, one guy was just in a wifebeater. Even if they were able to find their way back to their clothes in the middle of a whiteout, they were miles from any civilization and would've died out on the ice regardless. But noooo, the injun can't be culpable in any way, right? Caspere knew this.

If you’re taking flak, it means you’re over the target. This phrase originated during World War II in the Army Air Force. Essentially, it implies that when you’re receiving criticism or facing opposition, it’s often because you’re in a controversial position or making decisions that matter. So, if you find yourself catching some heat, remember that it might be a sign that you’re on the right track!

  73. 3 months ago

This show is proof of how “show, don’t tell” is only a fast and loose guideline and isn’t always better.

There’s an entire plot point in season 4 lifted almost directly from season 1. In season 4 Danvers is a cynical atheist like Rust, we later learn this is due to the tragic death of her young child in a car accident, like Rust. In the final episode Danvers almost dies and is visited by her dead child which gives her the motivation to pull through and survive, same as Rust.

Only in season 4 we literally have a cheesy vision of a ghost child’s hand reaching out to touch her and Navarro’s psychic communication with the dead to inform Danvers that he’s looking out for her.

In season 1, Rust pulls through the coma and his account of meeting his dead father and daughter is told by him as he breaks down and cries, something we’ve never seen him do. We never actually see this vision, we only hear his account of it and it can still be chalked up to a coma dream, but it’s emotionally devastating and feels intense and heavy.

Night Country took the exact same plot point and made it some cheesy lifetime movie bullshit.

Ignoring his shilling (I'm not watching the video) I'm annoyed Pete didn't watch Rose carve up his father.
Part of his character arc was about not looking away from the fricked-up state of things (being a true detective), alongside coming to terms with the relationship he and his father had.
Sure, he 'closes the door' by throwing him into the water right after, but why have him look away from the butcher b***h? He already killed his father. Show that he's willing to carry that weight.

It's okay, moron-kun, you could just say you're filtered by the idea of actually good character writing.
Am I saying people should make a habit of watching cartel torture videos? No, dumbfrick. But an episode earlier Pete says it's his mess, and he'll fix it—so why have him turn away at the 11th hour, when he ends up dumping both of them off the sled in the next minute anyway? It weakens the scene, and the character's conclusion to his arc.

I agree with you from a film standpoint, you're right, but from a regular human being standpoint you're wrong. You're asking something horrible on top of something that's already horrible. He even suggested that he should do it himself, but the lady was kind enough to ease that burden.
            >you're gonna carry that for eternity

It's already as brutal as it gets, in the original meaning of the word. A son, shooting his father in the head, and burying him under the ice, all the while remembering how his dad saved him from drowning, a polar opposite situation. Think hard about what you're saying.

              Anonymous

              >Am I saying people should make a habit of watching cartel torture videos? No
We're not disagreeing. But this is film (on television), not regular human beings. The arc of the Priors already feels half-baked (with everything being mostly crammed into episode 5) but even so managed to be the best side-plot among the 20 other options. It just could've been even better with that one simple change.
Frick, like you said, it cuts to Hank picking at the ice when Pete is opening the hole; have it cut to Hank cutting bread for a sandwich for Pete when Rose is slicing open his belly so his decomposition gas won't expose Pete's patricide.

S3 Detectives had a tougher time having fewer resources due to the setting and a more convoluted mystery.
