She's not that bad, but pretty annoying (Mexico kidnapping)
Hank could do better though.
She's just really annoying and sometimes it feels like that annoying behavior never slows down. It also doesn't help that the show will sometimes vindicate her annoying ego via Hank having to step in because she's his Wife
I envy you, OP. You clearly don't have someone in your life like Peggy. KotH excels at showing characters that resonate with archetypes and the too-smug-to-know-she-don't-know-it-all archetype is quite common in people's lives.
I don't really get it.
>Fat bratty eight-year-old kills a dude's parents and feeds them to him
>Everyone laughs
>Sociopath gay alien takes over a 3rd world country and executes hundreds of innocent civilians
>Everyone laughs
>Out of touch boomer lady mistakes a girl for one of her students, and when she realizes her mistake almost immediately brings her back with no real harm, and nearly gets sent to prison
>Wow, frick this heartless b***h
for me it wasn't the kidnapping, it was the court scene
Qrd on that please?
Tbh I hate both Cartman and Roger
to be fair the other shows you mentioned are exaggerated and absurd while koth is grounded
True, but that's still kind of my point. In the crazy world of American Dad, becoming a dictator is basically the equivalent of accidentally kidnapping a Mexican child.
The point is that the groundedness makes it relatable whereas the zaniness of other things makes it unrelatable. It's like how Clarissa's dad is the worst father in most Cinemaphile media despite there being parents in Cinemaphile that do far more extreme shit but it's on comic book/cartoon terms. People probably have a Peggy-like person in their life that annoys the frick out of them, so when they encounter them in a cartoon they bring all that hate with them.
Okay, that makes sense.
I mean in early South Park, Randy was the grounded parent, and Sharon was the crazy one.
Do you mean Shelia? I can't think of when Sharon was really ever crazy beyond having an affair with a shakeweight.
Peggy accidentally kidnaps a Mexican girl thinking she was a student of hers from their field trip. When she returns her, she's arrested for kidnapping. Her Lawyer argues that his defense is basically tell them the misunderstanding was based on the fact she can't actually speak Spanish. Peggy thinks she can speak Spanish so refuses to take that defense plus it'd ruin her reputation if they ever heard back in the States. However she gets off when Hank convinces her Lawyer to let her take the stand and explain their story in her own SPANISH words. The Judge sees Peggy doesn't know what she's saying and lets her go, Peggy thinks she was sentenced Guilty.
>Assumes her 8 year old child is a murderer and buries bodies for him (also lies to the McCormick's about their dead son)
The fairly realistic setting made her concieted ignorance unbearable. In a fantastic setting, you take it in with a level of trust in the writer that is pre-established. In KotH, you're relating more often than not.
My mom is Peggy if she got a masters. It's unbearable.
>Fat bratty eight-year-old kills a dude's parents and feeds them to him
>Everyone laughs
No that was fricked up and it made no sense Cartman wasn't arrested for mutilating two corpses and feeding them to someone
>Sociopath gay alien takes over a 3rd world country and executes hundreds of innocent civilians
>Everyone laughs
Roger was never funny and American Dad thrives off its characters being buttholes
I don't get it either. Even when in-universe she's supposed to be annoying, her character is still funny and entertaining to watch. She has done bad things, don't get me wrong (her lying to Hank about being a virgin while he waited for marriage with her in particular hurt my heart), but I don't see her as a bad person overall. I think she and Hank are well-suited and their relationship is overall sweet and understandable. I never understood the hate for her, same with the hate for Skyler White. All I hear about before watching these shows is how they are pure evil, the worst ever, and then I watch the shows and am so confused. It's like I'm living in a different dimension than these people and watched a totally different show.
It goes against the laws of nature (Sitcom mothers are supposed to be more moral and less interesting than their husbands)
She's annoying, but that's what makes her a good character. She's overconfident about her abilities and intellect to the point where it's a detriment.
This type of female character would never be allowed to exist today.
alrighty
After following King of the Hill discourse for a while, I think people downplay how grating Peggy can be even in small bursts effectively making her a more punchable Gene Belcher in the way she adds nothing to scene/joke.
>Sad moment occurs; an example being Hank having a fight with his father.
>Hank: Where did I go wrong?
>Peggy: *Pretending to be moronic* He just told you. The moment you were born :3
I loved her. Just wish we got more feet episodes.
you can tell a non foot gay animated that because those feet look fricking ugly
aren't her feet supposed to be ugly
no, she's young and irl young women have beaitufl healthy feet, the artist drew them ugly and is probably not a footgay.
There's...literally a whole episode about how ugly her feet are, anon.
the animators clearly don't know what ugly feet look like. her feet is at least a 6/10. some close up shots like the one when she was on her bed with her red nails brought it up to a, 8/10
>Young
She's almost 40 and grew up on a farm
It was a ranch, which is farming for pussies
Never thought they were ugly, just really big.
People who defend Peggy most likely grew up with abusive mothers and don't even realize it. It's pretty sad.
It’s more like people who hate Peggy had abusive mothers and project it on her. She triggers them and they take her way too fricking seriously.
She's an egotistical blowhard that would rather a kid (one she took from her home country) live in her closet than admit she was wrong.
after binging the entire series I can definitely say I have no idea either
Falling out of a plane gave her brain damage. It's why everyone is nice to Peggy despite her becoming increasingly bad as the show goes on.
Let's see she has an ego as big as Texas, never admits to being wrong even when Stevie Wonder can see when she's in the wrong, she's the best example of the dunning Kruger effect, and she thinks she knows better than everyone. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
she's evil in a very banal sort of way, which is weirdly more infuriating than being outlandishly evil, probably because it's more relatable.
She's actually a pretty shitty mother. She throws her son under the bus on multiple occasions and even triggers a repressed memory of a nightmare of his eyes being pecked out in him just to be petty.
Sex with Peggy must be pretty good though, all that pent up energy HO-YEAH
Alright it's time to discuss Nancy and Dale.
Who is worse?
>Nancy cheated on Dale for years, and has a bastard son with John Redcorn. Has been lying by omission for years.
>Dale never present. Leaving/disappearing constantly. Doesn't have a stable job. Earns just enough to pay cable bill.
Who was worse?
Nancy is shit no doubt. But Dale is worse. Dale could've stopped her from cheating entirely if he was just more present. Ie, not going to hunt aliens or disappearing for long stretches of time. Even when they made up it was obvious she cheated because Dale never pays her mind.
Nancy is a easy sugar momma. You don't need a career. You just have to romance her every now and again. She wants to take care of you. Dale has it good. And he fricked it up by ignoring her for years.
Nancy because of the same reason as Peggy. Too realistic.
Dale in reality.
loud, opinionated, oftentimes incorrect woman who reminded them of their mother/girlfriend/wife/teahcer/whatever
personally I thought she was the funniest character
The frito pie incident.
Arrogant, ignorant person who think she knows everything. They even did an episode showing how foolish she really is with the scam artist making money off people who thought they were genius after taking a test. Also the episode she accidentally kidnaps a Mexican girls cause she doesn't actually understand Spanish, a language she teaches at school. Don't forget the time she almost got the entire town to kill itself via mustard gas cause she put in a "tip" about mixing bleach with ammonia.
