Comedians just aren’t funny anymore. Anybody can quip and deliver zingers. Nobody working right now can carry an entire movie simply by doing rails of coke and improvising like Jim Carey or Chris Farley used to.

I think his point is that it’s difficult to make just a comedy nowadays. It always has to have action elements included and vice versa. Look at the shitty 'comedy' elements in streamer action movies like The Gray Man or Ghosted as examples.

That’s an interesting theory, but comedy was killed by far left puritanical bullies who get ego trips from shutting things down. Imagine if somebody tried to make There’s Something About Mary now. It simply can’t be done. Marvel HAS ruined the superhero genre with nonsense plots, cheap computer effects, putting masculinity in the back seat, and interjecting “comedy” in a sad attempt to ward off any criticisms of the film with, “you’re taking the film too seriously; it’s supposed to be fun!”
Most successful Comedies in the 80's were SNL alumni being pushed as Stars. Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Chevy Chase, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Chris Farley, David Spade. There is no comedy Mecca because SNL is dead so we get shitty e-celeb movies like Bert Kreischer and Sebastian Maniscalco.

Watching alcoholics, I only legit laughed at the scene where he hides under his boss' desk, then Denham ends up sexing her. His crying, while grabbing the tissue that was dropped right infront of him to wipe his eyes with, only to realise it was cum. Then the next scene he grabs onto the back of the car with roller blades before Denham drives over a hill and he falls flat on his face.
That was genuinely funny as shit. The rest of it was just awkward "humour" where he tries so hard to act moronic.
