Some people say Marcy getting stabbed was unnecessary but I think the severity of Marcy's actions are why the stabbing happened at all, because it was the only way that Anne and Sasha would be willing to forgive her. I think what the writers were going for with Marcy getting stabbed and possessed was that if she suffers more than both of her friends combined then not forgiving Marcy would've been seen as cruel on their part.

        Anonymous

        >Some people say Marcy getting stabbed was unnecessary
Yes because Anne doesn't internalize about this moment, instead she just laughs about it with her parents meanwhile Sasha escapes the castle and everything she thinks about is Anne.
this is why people say that the stabbing was unnecessary because the show couldn't do a follow towards it and instead Marcy's situation is talked by Sasha and Anne briefly in S2:B because the show seems allergic to go deeper into it.

            Anonymous

Yes. Because I watched the show. They don't even know what the frick happened to her. Only thing they saw was her getting stabbed one time, and they never even talk about it when discussing Marcy's crimes. Anne just says that they didn't try hard enough to be good friends to an autist like Marcy. And Sasha just says it would be hard to forgive Marcy and then Anne says that Sasha should at least try because forgiveness can be worth it, and she looks at Hop Pop because that was the biggest forgiveness she ever had to do and their relationship was so worth it.

But Marcy isn’t autistic, isn’t she supposed to be a competent genius? If anything, Marcy should’ve been the one taking care of Anne and Sasha since Marcy’s the oldest and smartest of the group.

                THE SHOW.
She is the most autistic character ever put on television and that's not an exaggeration.
                >competent
No in fact one of the only things she ever does in the show is almost die and have to be saved by everybody. This happens constantly whenever she is in an episode.
                >genius
Smart maybe, but I would never say genius. She is the autistic kind of "smart". It's very selective, to the point where she just straight up sees the world the incorrect way. Like how she calls things that happen in amphibia and history "worldbuilding" or how she tried to take credit for Sprig. Fricking Sprig, somehow, she thought was something she made happen.

None of that is indicative of autism, she’s just a silly naive child who’s into fantasy. She’s no more immature than Anne and Sasha are

                Anonymous

Yes it fricking is. That's the literal definition of autism, most of the time. There are some rarer breeds of it that are slightly different but 99 times out of ten it means being super smart about one or two very specific things, being handicapped when it comes to understanding anything social, and seeing the world in a bullshit way. If you're going to post, at least be correct.
                >who's into fantasy
Everyone is, but Marcy straight up thinks it's all like her books and final fantasys. She could be in a serious situation and somebody could have just died and she would still think they're in a fricking isekai. When Marcy says shit like "the worldbuilding here is amasing!!!" it might sound like a joke, but that's really how she sees it.
                >no more immature than Anne or sasha
Marcy kidnapped two people and risked their lives(and possibly worse) just because she is obsessed with them. Marcy tried to TAKE CREDIT FOR SPRIG. Think about that, after kidnapping Anne which led to her suffering in filth and agony for months, being malnourished to the point of having to eat bugs every day to survive and still being skin and bones, and nearly getting killed by giant monsters or worse every single day, Marcy then went on to claim that she was the one who GAVE Anne her very best friend ever. Despite the fact that Marcy sees Sprig as nothing more than a toy. despite the fact that Sprig has absolutely nothing to do with any of this shit. Despite never having met Sprig and Sprig only having met Anne by complete chance. A low chance too.
Marcy also makes Anne commit crimes, but unlike with Sasha it's not about control and there are no reasons each time. When Marcy does it it's just because she doesn't fricking care.
Also, Marcy isn't even a little bit worried or creeped out about doing dark magic with Maddie. Like I could go on and on, but Marcy is INSANELY immature. There is no fricking comparison here, Anne and Sasha are like wise old women compared to her.

Oh, and since you didn't see the show I should probably mention that the reason why Marcy tried to take credit for Sprig was to pathetically try to get out of trouble after getting found out.

                Anonymous

I wouldn’t say it’s pathetic, she was just trying to do damage control like most people would do in her shoes. Marcy didn’t really have any good options on the day she found out she was moving away. She had two options, and both of them were bleak. It was either accept moving away and losing her friendship with Anne and Sasha, and let’s be honest considering how neglectful they were with her they wouldn’t have bothered keeping in touch online, or send them with her to another world to have one last chance to strengthen their bond. Both options were bad for obvious reasons but she chose the lesser evil in her eyes, the fact that her experience in Amphibia was ultimately a disaster for her is beside the point.

                Anonymous

                >i wouldn't say it's pathetic
Well either you're gay or you're joking. It doesn't get more pathetic than that. Marcy was like too scared to be on her own so she kidnapped the two people(who don't even like her THAT much) who she bullied into protecting and coddling her. And then she immediately proved that she didn't even need Anne or Sasha to survive and that she was just a pathetic scared b***h who was too cowardly to even try. I don't care if I sound harsh, it is the unironic truth. And I don't even hate Marcy like you might think, I'm just calling it like it is.
                >losing her firendship with anne and sasha
"friendship" more like. And if they were real friends Marcy would not have had to worry about that, because like phones and other shit. If she really believed that the freindship would end then that means that deep down she knew it was a sham and she chose not to admit it to herself. But what I think is that she was still telling ehrself that they would stay in touch, but she wanted more than that. She wanted her slave, Anne, and not just on the phone. She wanted to be able to see and touch her cute friend Sasha, and no I'm not a fry or a gay, I mean that in a completely hetero way. Like hugs and stuff.
                >have one last chance to strengthen their bond
That was never Marcy's intention. even she knew that kidnapping wouldn't do that. She just wanted to trap them.
                >lesser evil in her eyes
I disagree with you. I think she knew it was worse.

                >Anne and Sasha are like wise old women compared to her.
True, and yet for some reason Matt thinks Marcy and Sasha looked down on Anne, which makes no sense since Marcy was like a little sister her friends had to babysit.

                Anonymous

That makes perfect sense though. Marcy sees the world in an incorrect way, like I have already discussed. That's a thing with autism. It's not always looking down on others, but sometimes it is. Marcy looks down on Anne because she's smarter than her, and because Anne basically acts as a slave to them. Marcy unironically thinks she is better than Anne but I doubt that's something she would ever admit, especially to herself. It's not exactly a conscious thought. And "looking down on someone" doesn't always mean the same thing. Just bullying someone can count as looking down on them, I have definitely seen people use the phrase that way before. And Marcy definitely bullies Anne. And of course Sasha does too, that's like a big deal in the story.

                >shouldn't she be taking care of the others
Watch the show, Marcy couldn't take care of a goldfish. Marcy set herself on fire thirty times in the show, and just about fell to her death at least twenty times. And Marcy is essentially a fricking background character so those numbers are way worse than they sound.

Sasha is the strongest. Of course it's Sasha's job to take care of the others. In fact Sasha willfully chose that job. Even if Marcy was the smartest and even if she was like a couple months older, that stuff would be irrelevant.

It’s kinda hilarious how by the end of this show it ends up with Sasha being the least shitty person of the trio.
Anne is just a generally all around butthole who will constantly learn moral lessons about how to be better and then by the next episode she’s breaking those same morals again. For being the “Heart” of the group she was an extremely self centered person the majority of the show, with her bullshit antics constantly fricking over those she was close to.
And then Marcy is just the overall moron who thought entrapment was the best recipe for keeping lifelong friends. Then she gets fridged for 90% of Season 3 for the honestly terrible Core plot line. So she gets the absolute bare minimum of character development to solve her issues.
Meanwhile Sasha started out as a massive c**t, kept being a massive c**t for a good 60% of the series, and then when shit finally hit the fan because of her constantly c**tery, she actually made the effort to change herself for not only her own betterment but her friends as well. It’s so crazy how Sasha genuinely might have the least screen time of the 3 girls (because of that slew of Marcy featured episodes in Season 2) but her development felt the most fleshed out.

Some "people" don't even know that Marcy was a bully. These "people" need to watch the actual show. I don't mean out of context cherry picked edited clips from pooptube that are only there to show her "le heckin' quirky" side. I mean the actual whole entire real show.
Sasha used charm and manipulation to bully people, Marcy just used Manipulation to bully Anne. But Marcy also had Sasha to back her up.
Like Sash, Marcy would make people(usually Anne) do things they didn't want to do, but not with physical force. They made the person do the thing themselves with mind bullying. Marcy was in on all of Sasha's shit, and we even see Marcy bullying Anne herself in the flashback to the big prank at school. And of course Marcy made her steal the music box and didn't even care that it was a crime. And Marcy had ALWAYS feigned being a helpless creature for attention and was cool with Anne and Sasha feeling like it was their responsibility to coddle her. Which is ironic because they clearly did too much coddling to Marcy as a sort of accommodation to Marcy's exaggerated condition, but meanwhile not enough accommodation for her real condition, which was autism. They didn't try to understand her autism or how they should treat her differently than other people, they were just there and kept saving her life and shit, but more or less just being in the same room as her. It's fascinating really.
Marcy would also sometimes use Anne to make Sasha do some minor shit that she didn't want to do. Marcy was of course too pussy to try this with anything major, because it's Sasha. But she did do this for minor, petty things. Like Making Sasha play nerdy tabletop games by having Anne convince her to. Anne would essentially act like her and Sasha owed Marcy their time, but like I said before it was more like they just thought they had to be there all the time, instead of actually BEING there, you know?

      Anonymous

If they owed her anything, it would have been understanding or patience, but they never really tried that before the end of the show. They went through the motions. Which is why even though Sasha would always go the sleepovers with the lord of the rings movies and always play the nerd games with her, Marcy was always left unsatisfied and wanting more. Because Sasha was never REALLY with her. That's why she kidnapped Sasha(and to a lesser extent Anne), because she felt an unsatiable thirst for companionship that would only get more irritated each time Sasha acted uninterested despite physically being there. Marcy may have been socially handicapped but even she can tell when someone is looking on their phone with a bored expression then they're not really trying.

      >to a lesser extent Anne
What I mean by this is that Anne clearly felt more bad for Marcy than Sasha did, and was a more constant companion to her and was easier to manipulate. So Marcy was less "thirsty" for Anne. Also, she liked Sasha better.

This could just be my opinion, but Marcy has very little reason to like Sasha. If she liked Sasha more I guess it could be because Sasha was a challenge for her whereas Anne already gave Marcy everything she wanted in regards to affection. Now that I think about, when Marcy told Anne that she was jealous of her social skills, part of the reason for that could be because Anne effortlessly got along better with Sasha than Marcy did.

          For real bro.
Sasha is intimidating and not a pushover like Anne. Anne is basically her slave, which just makes Sasha look better in comparison. but the intimidation aspect doesn't really have to do with Anne. I think there is just a lot of things to Sasha that makes Marcy feel like she's more of a peer than Anne. Anne is like a doll to her. Raggedy Anne more like. You think Sasha underestimated Anne? Marcy, just like Andrias, was way worse.

But I have to disagree with your first point because even without the whole challenge/peer aspect there are still other things. For one, Sasha is prettier, smarter, and stronger. She might be richer. She's more, idk, premium? Oh and she's cooler. And the whole school loves her. And those were just personality/status traits. If we're including other things like actions, one very good and simple reason for Marcy to like Sasha is that Sasha is kind to her. And she protects her from bullies, ironically. And I think one of the biggest things is that Sasha claims to be Marcy's friend, so Marcy feels owed affection. But I guess that is also more of the challenge thing.

I never noticed this before. Very insightful, anon.

          >anne already gave marcy everything she wanted in regards to affection
Did she though? Or did Anne just try really hard but it wasn't enough, and Marcy was too embarrassed/ashamed to ask for more? Even Anne wasn't really THERE, you know what I mean? But she put a whole lot of effort into the "going through the motions" or whatever. Marcy didn't want to make herself look bad by demanding even more from Anne. Right now she can act like it's normal that, or that she doesn't know that, she is such an inconvenience to Anne. But when Anne is already clearly physically giving Marcy so much of her time, Marcy can't then ask for more. Because then you've reached a point where you're no longer pretending, you're demanding. The deal is that Marcy acts like a moron who is constantly in mortal danger and needs to be coddled constantly, and then Anne out of guilt does just that. It's an unspoken thing. But when you bring these things up it suddenly becomes real, and (you) become the butthole. I mean, you are anyway, but not if you can pretend you're not.

Also, she liked Sasha better.

      >exaggerated condition
What I mean by this is that even if it was 100% real at first, it still wasn't because normal people would have at least tried to get better so their friends wouldn't have to keep saving their lives constantly. And Marcy proved that she can, but she never even tried to until she physically had to. She was cool with the status quo despite the major inconvenience to her friends(mostly Anne). Intentionally choosing to never get any better when you easily could counts as an exaggeration. In fact we never see this, but I bet she probably got even worse through carelessness(and still didn't give a shit).

All things considered, would she have gone to Juvie? Obviously she should have, but like ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, you know?

Like, would it be too much of a hassle for them to track down the owner of the store and stuff?

Would it screw up father's new job or something?

Would they have to find some weird way to charge her for kidnapping even though they're trying to make it look like amphibia doesn't exist? (which I don't get. Why did they think they needed to "cover up" the invasion?)
