I read a theory the symbol is a map and that area used to be some sort of mine. When they got poisoned off the mushrooms in the beginning it was a hint that they were all poisoned from whatever minerals were in the mines around them and went crazy.

It makes literally 0 sense if it's not supernatural since we see supernatural shit happen that's not from any specific character's POV (unreliable narrator.) Hopefully they just go full unambiguous supernatural going forward. Though I'm afraid it's just going to be as shitty as Lost like every other Lost copycat.

That can be explained through starvation, hyperthermia, shrooms. For specific character like Lotte and Taissa they're obviously schizo

should have been just the teen story, the adult storylines are by far the worst part of the show
nah the teen story was best first season, then they dragged it out season two and the adult storyline became more interesting.

I don't think this particular question should ever be explicitly resolved. The ambiguity would ultimately be better writing, making it blatantly fall to one side or the other would be pandering. Also, I know it'll piss off a whole lotta frickin' nerds, and that thought makes my wiener hard.

the forest demon is inside them, it's shown some characters "sleepwalk" and act out certain things without being aware of it not just Taissa who does it because she's possessed by something entirely different.
