>Shrek tries to do crowd surfing like a random guy just did, but everyone intentionally moves out the way. He lands on the bichon frise, who wets herself before the crushing
Some bits are lame
Most people on this board agree with you tho. I'm the contrarian for saying it's one of the best animated films ever made, and one of my favourite comedy films.
Yes I'm a zoomer with a nostalgia boner, don't care, get shrekt
>first movie : lasts exactly 83 minutes without credits
>second movie : lasts 82 minutes and 50 seconds without credits
This sequel could've been longer. Only reason it's slightly longer than the first one is because it has a mid credits scene (https://youtu.be/j0aafuAUP0I), unlike the first one.
Shrek 1 works because it was a middle finger to Disney shit. Shrek 2 just set the groundwork for what animated family films would be from that point on. I don’t mean that in a positive way. Shrek 2 blows. Especially compared to the first.
>Sports Illustrated, Starbucks Coffee, Burger King, Armany Exchange, Barneys New York, Versace, Abercrombie & Fitch, FAO Schwarz, Pottery Barn, Baskin Robbins, Tiphany & Co, Saks Fifth Avenue, Old Navy, GAP Kids, Banana Republic, Tower Records, USPS, E! Entertainment
All those brands are referenced with slightly altered logos (Pork Illustrated, Farbucks Coffee, Burger Prince, Armany Armoury, Barney's Old York, Versarchery, Abercrombie & Witch, FEE-FI-FO Schwarz, Pewtery Barn, Baskin Robinhood, Epiphany & Co, Saxxon Fifth Avenue, Old Knavery, GAP Queen, Banana Kingdom, Tower of London Records, FFPS, ME! >Playboy bunny logo, Beverly Hills sign, Paramount Studios entrance, Rodeo Drive, Angelyne billboard, Hollywood sign, Frisch's Big Boy statue, Burger King paper crown, COPS font, Hollywood bowl, Michael Jackson's crotch grab
All of them are visually referenced. Frisch's Big Boy is parodied as Friar's Fat Boy.
>Justin Timberlake, King Charles, Britney Spears, Joan Rivers
These people are visually referenced. Joan appears as a 3D model
>From Here to Eternity, Fellowship of the Ring, Spider Man, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Wizard of Oz, The Seven Year Itch, The Shining, Indiana Jones, Mission Impossible, Jurassic Park, Flashdance
These films are visually referenced. Mission Impossible theme is even heard
>Parcheesi, Rawhide theme song, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, Mr. Microphone commercial, Shirley Bassey, Bob Barker, Keebler, Pretty Woman, Sanford and Son, Corinthian leather, Mask of El Zorro, Kit-Kat Club
These are mentioned/referenced in the english dub
>Ever Fallen in Love, Changes, Holding Out for a Hero, Livin' La Vida Loca
These songs are heard in cover versions
>Le Freak, Funkytown, Little Drop of Poison, People Ain't No Good
These songs are heard as we already knew them before 2004
>DreamWorks Pictures is founded in october 1994 >DreamWorks adquires the pioneer computer animation studio Pacific Data Images at the start of 1996. Said studio hires a lot of new people after that adquisition >Antz : october 2, 1998 >Shrek : may 18, 2001 >Shrek 2 : may 19, 2004
This is different from the previous two films. Certainly not as timeless or comfy to watch.
It bothers me how the King never takes off his crown in the 3 days of screentime he has in the film, or how he wears the same clothes until the night of the 3rd day.
Something tells me that Fairy Godmother having those glasses was a late addition. The writers/animators never do anything with her glasses, like having her take them off or put a finger on them.
Fairy Godmother is a superficial, vain, materialistic, narcissistic and politically incorrect character. Only redeeming quality is caring for her son, who isn't much better than her.
Get shrekt
you missed a few words moron
>exhausts himself from coping and admits it's good
based
"Look out, Shrek! He's got a piece!"

How would you rewrite the bit?
>the bichon frise
But the dog is seen perfectly fine afterwards
It's only good if you've seen it as a kid and never again.
literally the opposite. there's a shit ton of jokes a kid wouldnt get.
Those are for the parents who watch it with their kids.

Both 1 and 2 are kinos actually
I blame Shrek for giving me transformation/corruption fetish.
u having a stroke m8?
you suck
It lacks innocence. 95% of the characters are adults.
Shrek 1 works because it was a middle finger to Disney shit. Shrek 2 just set the groundwork for what animated family films would be from that point on. I don’t mean that in a positive way. Shrek 2 blows. Especially compared to the first.
Freudian slip, Shrek 2 is good.

You're too old to care about children's entertainment.
There sure is a complete lack of children or even teenagers in this piece of children entertainment.
It bothers me how the King never takes off his crown in the 3 days of screentime he has in the film, or how he wears the same clothes until the night of the 3rd day.
Apparently, he also used the same clothes and had gray hair when Fiona was a baby.

You have to admit the live cam salt shaker bit was hilarious tho
It was a different time
Remember when chris farley was originally picked to voice shrek?
Farley was announced to be Shrek on february 97, and he died on december. Myers was announced as the new voice on august 98.
I agree. Pacing’s off and it ruins the self contained story of shrek 1.
4 > 2
I said what I said.
