They would never release the show as it was then, because they would never show Daria as the adorable aloof dork which she is. They would justify every shit she does because were are in the age of the "Slay quean Uhhss."
>They would justify every shit she does because were are in the age of the "Slay quean Uhhss."
daria is deeply critical of miss barch for acting like that, funnily enough
>To be honest she is critical of everybody
she is rarely actually wrong about them, it just comes with her intelligence
its more that she has super high standards that no one can live up to, and she beats herself up for not living up to those standards
>daria is a shitty person
she is prickly and sarcastic, but not bad
>and a hypocrite
she is especially hard on herself when she cant reach her own standards and always walks the walk
thats one of the few things she isnt
She is anything but a hypocrite. I'd sooner say she is self aware under the veils of sarcasm. At least she keeps her principles. Principles are also able to bend to change when confronted with truth. That is literally how principles are formed. Through the knowledge of life's experiences that reveals truths that would otherwise had been falsehoods.

It's not being fake or pretending to be nice, is about not being rude in general.
She rarely wrong because the stories are not about her being wrong, but about her being judgmental and anti-social by being blunt as a brick and how that does not help her or make her any better.

Not that anon, but it's called being """"polite"""". Which means being """"nice"""" who bother you because in society you need to get along for it to stay together. You CAN work yourself to death in a dead end job all alone because you're bitter and angry at the world but the same is said for people needing to deal with your anti-social ass. The world is an unfair place for most, and those who think they deserve better usually don't.

Just look at some of the recent reboots like He-Man, Velma, and even Ren & Stimpy Adult Party.

I think there are two He-man reboots. I saw one where the main is actually MoW's daughter and He-man is barely in it (and there's an EP with Evil-Lynn or however you spell her name is given s backstory where Skeletor groomed her).
if the one you saw wasn't this one, then there you go: there are at least two reboots

so they made a deranged dentist with a hook for a hand.
oh and that one time when Phineas and Ferb had an episode where an executive is tied to a chair and forced to watch a pilot, then gives notes that the platypus should have a girlfriend, which I guess is a note they KEPT getting. they stopped getting it after that.
Daria was a great waifu.
Its just shit that it came from the shitshow that was Beevis and Butthead,
Because, frick B&B.
I fail to see how that ruins anything. what's wrong with B+B anyway? they're the pinnacle of Judgian satire. Like that one time when they go digging in their yard to strike oil, and they got the idea from the beverly hillbillies. as if to say "uh yeah idiots might get dumb ideas from TV, maybe stop blaming the TV"
The Holiday episode is worth watching; even with the silly premise, it has a lot of good jokes and character bits plus the subplot about Helen/Jake being hexed to make them constantly fricking and Quinn being driven to exhaustion trying to stop them because she's terrified that Helen will get pregnant and she'll become the dreaded "middle child" who gets ignored by the new baby.
Now "Fat Like Me" and "Fizz Ed", THOSE are garbage episodes you can skip over.
The former is written as an explicit "frick you" to those who waited five years for the Fashion Club to self-destruct and the later is so hackishly written (complete with basic b***h failures for how schools work) that it might as well be written by an AI, combined with the fact that it features a plot where Daria is written explicitly out of character to hammer home the theme of season five, which was the Last Jedification of Daria as a pathetic complainer who does nothing.

I'm late to reply but the movie has a montage of sorts in the credits and Quinn does get back at her. Physically.
Also grows into her own self by the end of the movie when she answers DeMartino's question - the same question he asked Daria at the start of the series - correctly in her own way and replies to Sandi, who was mocking her for knowing the right answer, with words that the latter obviously doesn't understand. Quinn quietly smiles to herself proudly right after that.
Fizz Ed at least has Ms. Li losing her goddamn mind, and a company being total unreasonable douches to try to weasel out of sponsoring the school.
Li losing her mind only made sense in that they had to wrap up the plotline SOMEHOW and wasn't satisfying because the company won in the end and Daria was explicitly nerfed because of the fact that the writers spent the last season of the show Last Jediying Daria.
Not to mention the fact that the episode had ZERO scale of time (taking place over 6-8 months starting in January and forgetting that football isn't played in the spring AND isn't played on weekends.
You cannot have straight female friends in shows anons. Regardless, the real issue would be that all the good points the show made would be distorted in a modern age.
I liked in that one promo bit when they're talking about something something lesbians and Jane goes "~I'M~ a lesbian!" all cheerily, the way one might be like "you're from idaho? no kiddin' I'M from idaho!"
and Daria just flatly squashes her joke "no you're not."
that shit was hilarious.
>To be honest she is critical of everybody
she is rarely actually wrong about them, it just comes with her intelligence
its more that she has super high standards that no one can live up to, and she beats herself up for not living up to those standards
exactly. and the thing about beating yourself up is, it's unproductive. the devil wants you to think yourself unworthy of improvement or forgiveness, so that you won't even try.
>and the thing about beating yourself up is, it's unproductive. the devil wants you to think yourself unworthy of improvement or forgiveness
So turning to God and religion is just a cope for when you realize how worthless, irrelevant, uneducated, and hate-filled you are? Got it. At least people who pretend to get validation from anime girls admit their obsession is fantasy, lmao.

Yeah short haired, short tempered aloof tomboys can be very straight to the point homosexual is an total ick to them.
to be clear, her -prospective- classmate -if- she decided to go to that school was manipulating her into thinking she 'must be' a lesbian 'or she wouldn't be so interested in Jane', which got her all confused, until she saw that same girl hitting on a teacher or upperclassman (I forget) to become popular or whatever.
>Daria getting talked into something she didn't want happening to her body by Trent >Holding his hand
hnng the metaphors. Speaks to that deep down part of me, just as sure as eating a turkey leg off the bone.
Girl's like Daria don't wear skirts.
cartoon girls you mean? yeah they aren't allowed anymore. though I think that's turning back around.
Trent didn't make Daria do shit
stop thinking Daria had no agency
the entire show is about her always having agency from doing anything with anyone
doing something for someone else is as close to being human as one can be
no, only moron smooth brains make that argument during any litigation that require even a fraction of objective reasoning
until someone physically or financially forces you to do something is it coercion
we're not talking litigation, we're talking about casual conversation, here, on an argentinian breadmaking BBS. when someone says "he made her" it could go as weak as 'he asked her'
I hope not. Jodie wasn't much of a character outside of being the only black girl in Lawndale High. At least Mack had a gimmick telling Kevin to stop calling him Big Mack.
ehhh she had the (typically asian) 'pushy parents need me to succeed' angle. and i liked her parents, they felt really believable as well-meaning push-harders who had to work hard to get where they are, and don't understand that, by pushing their kids to do the same, they're giving the lesson of "effort = rewards" rather than it being largely about luck and the blessings of a higher power.
They think she is a clone of Daria, So most chums would be supprised that she is probably more worldly and outgoing as a character.
Jane is the girl who showed pity to Daria and became her friend out of Habbit more then the *magnetic* character of Daria.
Jane was an outcast herself but more because of a lack of direction than anything else. She has more social skills than Daria but no real inclination to use them.
First couple seasons were fun, but once they tried to go hard into the drama, it got to be crappy
The whole Daria "stealing" Janes boyfriend and all that felt shitty. The show already was cynical and apathetic enough about society and people in general, without trying to add that crap
yeah nobody liked that
but it does kind of say something about Daria, and her difficulty in adapting to the things she knows nothing about. That's accurate to how being smart works. Her total cluelessness about love is kind of moemoe in its own way.
Yeah you are. Saying someone is your boyfriend or girlfriend (with it being mutual) means you're agreeing to commit yourself romantically (& sexually) to that person and no one else. Doesn't matter how much love is there, although you probably shouldn't date someone you don't love.
As much as Daria did initially try and get out of having a boyfriend, it was never a full blown "I think we should breakup" until the end. Thus, it was still a commitment on her end to be with this person, despite her doubts.

all I know is the scene looks a bit awkward because of their big heads. That's a limit of a stylized cartoon, a lot of things involving contact with the upper torso require you to bend the heads out of the way, which then makes the movements less "oh i didn't realize"

Its called freedom of self expression, its the American way
hehe. in-character.
the foundations of my worldviews came more from shit like that movie Angus. Daria just agreed with an existing worldview. and it was nice to hear.
lay off the anti-commies though, Jake. that's not 'extremism'
>Daria goes out of her way to be depressing, shoving her cynical views when they're not wanted/needed, putting people down needlessly, shares miserable facts or statistics unwarranted >Complains about being called the "misery chick" and hates that people view her as a downer
Worse that the show treats her complaints as justified, or at the very least, she doesn't get called out enough.
>ITT people that don't get the point of Daria's character arc
She's a flawed person, she knows it, and whole point of the show is how she copes with life. > You realize your negative approach to everything is self-defeating, right? >Well, it's nice to know there's someone I can defeat. >I mean, you may spare yourself some pain by cutting everyone off, but you miss out on alot of good stuff too. >Look Jodie, I'm too smart and too sensitive to live in a world like ours, at a time like this, with a sister like mine. Maybe I do miss out on stuff, >but this attitude is what works for me now.
S02E08
plus she's not really cutting everyone off, she's putting up walls against people who want to hurt her, or who do so inadvertently. she puts up no such walls against nice ones like Jodie, hence honest discussions like this, punctuated with sarcasm just to cut through the grease of the seriousness. Though part of the show's messages that really resonate is how.. once you get into the defensive habit, it's hard to get out of it just because someone's being nice.
-especially- when people are fake nice and then it turns out they were fricking with you and tricking you into some shit.. but that didn't happen to her thankfully.
literally only kevin and brittany were 'nice' and by nice I mean smiling when they delivered deep cuts to her for being a brain. They didn't question it and didn't mean it maliciously. Everyone else, especially most authority figures, were buttholes, clueless, or clueless buttholes.
all I can think is that you saw yourself in the people she insulted, heard yourself in her words, and have tried to mental-gymnastics your way toward her being the bad guy.
Would it have been interesting to get a season long kid at school that was actually and actively mean to hear? va realistic take on someone bullyinh her and she figuring out how to cope, if at all?
Daria comes off as a judgmental butthole half the time, and she is usually the one at fault whenever her standoffish tendencies cause issues. Everyone else is always nice to her. The popular cheerleader and football player are nice to her and invite her to parties.
The impression I get is Daria has this preconceived ideas of high school being a collection of small brained, hormone addled sociopaths and attention seekers. And she puts up a front expecting that, but the reality is everyone totally minds their own business or is generally friendly towards her.
i find it amazing how many people hear legitimate criticisms and instantly go "i'm being judged by an butthole" while insisting it's other people who deny their own flaws and blame others. I can't imagine what your parents were like.
as for your judgment of the other characters... you know you're mentally ill, right?
Which, I think, is the exact take the writers were trying to convey. Sometimes she's in the right and other times she's not. There's a lot of nuance and it's open to interpretation, like real life. It's the most realistic slice of life show I've ever seen which is one reason I love the show so much.

It's Daria who seems psycho in the pilot. Kevin doesn't want anything from her and she's just salty he assumed she wanted his dick and takes revenge for it.
That actually is closer to her Beavis and Butthead characterzation where she pranks thos two more than once.

yeah the pilot was much more Judgesque, hostility as humor. Perfect for a beavis and butt-head spinoff. They pared it down quite a bit for the series. she might occasionally get a little joy out of messing with people, but she would always rather they just be unworthy of it.
Early on season 1, Daria develops a rash by seeing Trent. She stumbles upon Brittany (which leads to a conversation about her maybe cheating on Kevin) but in the episode her and Kevin do visit Daria in the hospital.
It's nit that they make fun of Daria for being a brain, but more a divide they can't be friends for cheerleading/football and that she is a brain.
Daria isn't much better as in a few times as he gets paired up with Kevin she never gives him the benefit of the doubt and basically tells him to frick off.
fair enough but that feels like they did it out of obligation, and in the case of kevin, it was lurid curiosity about what's wrong with her. he's a complete child. A child without any boundaries. Daria's the only one willing to tell him no.

S02E13 “Write Where It Hurts”
Daria is trying to write a short story for English class with characters based on people she knows as a challenge. She gets sick of her mom comparing her to Quinn and tries to write a short story about the roles being reversed. >Um, do you want to talk to Quinn alone? >No, sweetie. As a matter of fact, we were just telling her how we wish she'd be more like you. >Don't you think I want to be more like Daria? Don't you think I would if I could? God, mom and dad, why won't you accept it?! >I'll never be like Daria. That's my curse.
I think the subtext here is that she switched the roles but self inserted as Quinn, and secretly wishes she actually more like Quinn. Quinn's meltdown in the short story is actually how Daria feels about Quinn, but her ego won't let her admit it. With the roles reversed she can vent that rage a little.
I very disagree, but I can see where you're coming from. Pretty sure she has just realized the ridiculousness of the premise right away, and had Quinn behave appropriately ridiculously. Like it's some bizarro world where the popular wish they could be unpopular, but can't figure it out.
indeed. but the combination of the classical caricaturist style with the subject matter of vapid teen girls... it brings that old art trend to mind. the Bratz era.
>Hey! (flatly, as if she does not appreciate you pulling the cord) >Great, you have basic grip-and-pull skills. I'm sure that will serve you well in your career >Don't bother looking up my skirt, unless you're turned on by instructions on how I shouldn't go in the washing machine >No seriously. Don't put me in the washing machine. Then I would have to stop having this scintillating conversation >If you understood how it felt to have your cord pulled, you'd leave mine alone a bit more often >Oh, was the talking Quinn doll sold out? I'm sorry. >Mmm. >You're pretty cool, let's get some pizza >Just to clarify, please do not try to feed me pizza. Because then I'd need to go in the washing machine. We've been over that part.
I was fresh off the boat when Daria was airing on MTV and like most insecure, nerdy kids who barely spoke English, I wasnt exactly a chick magnet in school as puberty hit like a storm and everyone suddenly started talking about liking this girl or that guy
Then that episode of Daria happened. I cant even remember all the details but it was something about Daria's sister (or friend?) who was popular but had to get a tutor because she was doing poorly in school. At first she looks down on the tutor for being a nerdy "egghead" but she gradually takes a liking to him and eventually asks him out, but he turns her down and even says something along the lines of "You wouldnt wanna be seen dating an egghead anyway", which breaks the popular girl's heart and...I cant remember how the rest of the episode went since it's been 20 fricking years.
I remember that episode was eye opening to me. Even though it was fiction, it made me hopeful that I didn't have to be some giga chat white super model to get a nice girl, and as for how the next 20 years went, well, I forgot the lesson of that episode fairly quickly and remained a bum who barely socialized, personally I blame World of Warcraft
Indeed. I respect that guy for not giving in to her obviously flighty crush, and it was kind of depressing seeing quinn unable to feel any positivity toward a guy without thinking it romantic.
he had an ugly nose though
anyway yeah that episode was good, I forget how it ends too but I wanna say she keeps up the studying and learns to be okay with getting good grades without shame.
oh and it's okay, we all remained unsocialized bums. because the world went to shit. simple as. how well would I have done in the alternate timeline? who knows. but I sure had no chance in this one.
I hope not. Jodie wasn't much of a character outside of being the only black girl in Lawndale High. At least Mack had a gimmick telling Kevin to stop calling him Big Mack.
I hope not. Jodie wasn't much of a character outside of being the only black girl in Lawndale High. At least Mack had a gimmick telling Kevin to stop calling him Big Mack.
I just looked it up. Apparently what started out as a show about Daria and Jodie as adults has since turned into a movie about Jodie's life after college/working a job (this is according to updates from 2022. As far as I can tell there hasn't really been much news about it since then)
it's cute, right?
finding a good style that captures this show is difficult. Daria is drawn with a really long face that I don't think she's meant to actually have. Lotta space between nose and upper lip, makes her look more dour and hangdog.
for the pic in question? Signature seems to say 'Meo'
Man I haven't watched Daria since I was a kid and I barely remember any of it. I really should do a rewatch of it sometime. I know I'll appreciate the humor a lot more. On that note, I should do the same with Beavis n Butthead.
B+B seriously holds up. it's brilliant. My favorite moment in recent memory has to be the boys going out and digging holes in yards trying to strike oil, ultimately hitting the sewer line.. because the Beverly Hillbillies gave them the idea. It was telling everyone "yeah, idiots will imitate TV, but don't blame our show just because our morons are more overt about it"

>I really should do a rewatch of it sometime.
I recommend you do. Daria really works as a binge show. Even though it's episodic for the most part episode feed into each other well, and if you oay attention you can notice some character growth, not just the main characters.
>the horrors trannies inflict on themselves
Trans people dont see it as a horror, its you and your ilk that view it as a horror. Why dont you mind your own business?
Yes
Its called freedom of self expression, its the American way
leave. you have everywhere else to be, leave us in the past. we don't go into the present and bother you.
I dunno I think Daria's the natchy one, Jane shaves bald at a time when leaving SOME behind was still pretty common because it goes in line with her whole Suicide Girls schtick.
but in college, she might stop.
What do you think was going on with Brittany was pushing her boobs on Daria? I think in context is that Brittany is unaware of her boob moghing Daria, but when I watch the webk there's space where she didn't need to also feels like shebtakes a little longer than dhe needs to to back off Daria.
that does kinda speak to a slight difference between them. jane is more seemingly outgoing, but actually quite vulnerable inside, wears her facade as defense. people accuse daria of that, and of being unsocial, but neither is true. she's just super real, and what you see is actually what you get. But that leaves her inexperienced when it comes to areas where "what would daria do" is "she doesn't know"
Jane is not for me, she's merely better than a normie. Daria is the.. what is it people say? 'patrician' choice. I want a gloomy intellectual gf like you wouldn't believe.
>just being nice
Trent is not the kind to be fake nice. you can tell when he's just being polite and doesn't like someone >did he think she was cool
absofrickinglutely. Maybe the coolest person he knows >was he into her
i think, a little. like, she has potential. but his life is one of endless hedonism, be drifts between gigs and doesn't really think too hard about future relationships, just has flings with skeezy chicks. and he's clearly not looking at Daria the same way as those. Given more time, she might have been able to get him thinking in mushy-stuff terms. and it could still happen, if one day he wakes up and realizes maybe he ought to change just a little. still remain a chill music guy but expand his life a little more...
>Was he just being nice to his little sister’s friend? Did he think she was cool?
pretty much. maybe he would've been into her if she was closer to his age. iirc, they have an age gap of around 8 years.
nah all he cares about is like, life experience. She's old enough, she's just stayed reserved and in a simpler, less worldly life. If Jane wasn't his sister, he could have been into her.
that's because the act of playing the guitar by itself isn't what women like. what they like is when everyone likes you for how cool you are. if you can't turn the guitar into a "coolness" thing then nobody will care. women only like you if they see that other people like you. I bet you never even tried to play wonderwall at some homosexual college party.
SE03E13 - Jane's Addition: >Trent - Maybe we just have different ideas about what a commitment is. >Daria - I suppose we do. >Trent - I guess it wasn't such a great idea for us to get together... on this. >Daria - No, I guess there was no way it could have worked out. >Trent - Hmm. It's too bad, Daria. I always kind of felt you understood the way I think. >Daria - I do, Trent. I do.
Double meanings? Fuel for shippers? next on Sick, Sad World.
Yeah that was meant to be Trent acknowledging he picks up on the crush and was willing to see where the friendship was going, but is figuring out it wouldn't work between them. Which is unfortunate but probably true.
honestly yeah, I mean he'd have to take a step too, but it wouldn't have to be a big one. She likes Jane, she can be comfortable with a semi-bohemian artist lifestyle where a musician and a writer both just play to their passions and live on modest pay
he's just not there yet, and she is. perhaps not in skill, but in work ethic. She's more of an adult than Trent is, and if his parents pulled the rug out from under him, he'd be kind of screwed.
the only way she could had "fixed" him if she were the bread winner allowing Trent to pursue his love of music making him having to choose between growing up on his pipe dream never really coming true of being a rock star and eventually just be a stay at home husband doing all the legwork in raising the children and the upkeep of home responsibilities.

that is the dream. i would raise the SHIT out of those kids. and i cook the best.
not a cleaning fan though
damn right he is
that said, that style of talk-singing he does is fricking terrible. the Happy Herb's jingle was ironically the best thing he ever did.
>Double meanings? Fuel for shippers?
It was a barely-veiled "sinking" of the ship to clear the way for her to be with Tom without it being a love-triangle.
the thing that makes "The Misery Chick" so relatable is we've all experienced that >oh hey anon, (thing i've been forced to think about) happened, you're into (vague genre that belongs in), right? how are you taking it
whether it be popular shows that are technically based on things you used to respect, or philosophies. the people who didn't think about something until it was forced into their world are not good for conversations about that thing.
would play
you know it's funny, people joke about the giant houses on sitcoms and in animated shows especially, like who could afford that, but topdown videogames have MASSIVE interior spaces
She would move a bit, but she would be really embarrassed and pretend that it didn't feel as good as it did. She'd probably keep her eyes closed most of the time.
there's no chance of it being on the right side of any of those issues, that's for fricking sure. Literally goes against the ToS of the streaming services.
>“As far as I can make out, inclusive occurs when middlebrow, middle-aged profiteers are looking to suck the energy — not to mention the spending money — out of the ‘youth culture.’ So they come up with this fake concept of seeming to be woke when every move they make is the result of market research and a corporate master plan.”
>In one episode Daria talks about her biggest fear being becoming an adult with no love partner and living with a cat >Years later the Creator gives us a look at the future of the cast and her fear becomes reality.
On the bright side, she is still friends with Jane, and Trent and has a segment on a talk show.
I love how she says "the last time i took one of these tests, they said it could be anything I want" and then in 'boxing daria', we do see a flashback episode where a therapist shows her ink blots and says you might see a herd of beautiful wild ponies running free across the plains
Written backwards, of course. The "Boxing Daria" flashbacks were about her having a hard time so it's odd for her to bring something back from that to mock the psychologist in the earlier episode.
yeah this artist has chosen to give her shorter boots and a massively oversized jacket and skirt.. it's kind of cute actually. I wonder if this is how she dressed a few years ago.
yes
It was a fun concept that got ruined very, very quickly
They would never release the show as it was then, because they would never show Daria as the adorable aloof dork which she is. They would justify every shit she does because were are in the age of the "Slay quean Uhhss."
>They would justify every shit she does because were are in the age of the "Slay quean Uhhss."
daria is deeply critical of miss barch for acting like that, funnily enough
>miss barch
To be honest she is critical of everybody. This is her massive red flag and conflict of most her focused stories.
>To be honest she is critical of everybody
she is rarely actually wrong about them, it just comes with her intelligence
its more that she has super high standards that no one can live up to, and she beats herself up for not living up to those standards
daria is a shitty person and a hypocrite. Everybody can find flaws on people, there is nothing smart about it.
>daria is a shitty person
she is prickly and sarcastic, but not bad
>and a hypocrite
she is especially hard on herself when she cant reach her own standards and always walks the walk
thats one of the few things she isnt
She is anything but a hypocrite. I'd sooner say she is self aware under the veils of sarcasm. At least she keeps her principles. Principles are also able to bend to change when confronted with truth. That is literally how principles are formed. Through the knowledge of life's experiences that reveals truths that would otherwise had been falsehoods.
her mom actually points out that she sticks too closely to her ideals and that she shouldnt be a martyr to her principles
If nobody stands for their principles; then what is the point of having them? Check mate mom.
to be with peace with yourself, not that you would understand that you little shit
>Me - Other Girls; I'm not a normie
It's not being fake or pretending to be nice, is about not being rude in general.
shes just young
She rarely wrong because the stories are not about her being wrong, but about her being judgmental and anti-social by being blunt as a brick and how that does not help her or make her any better.
are you telling me you can seriously stomach most people enough to not be antisocial?
and let me ask a different way: would you still feel that way if you lived in fricking Lawndale?
>are you telling me you can seriously stomach most people enough to not be antisocial?
Not that anon, but it's called being """"polite"""". Which means being """"nice"""" who bother you because in society you need to get along for it to stay together. You CAN work yourself to death in a dead end job all alone because you're bitter and angry at the world but the same is said for people needing to deal with your anti-social ass. The world is an unfair place for most, and those who think they deserve better usually don't.
>be fakey fake so people will do shit for you
got it.
dude i know how to do that. daria did too, she was a lot more deferential in those situations. until someone revealed themselves to be a complete ass.
This is our generation's Daria.
Fred's still cute, but she's disappointed me several times
how do her glasses even work, her eye isn't tinted, only her skin is
anon
adult party cartoon was 25 fricking years ago. it was like five times closer to the original than we are to it. you can't call that recent
also
>he-man
er, did they do another? because the one I'm aware of from.... 2007? 2008? was actually pretty good.
I meant Masters of the Universe.
that doesn't really help, since every version of he-man has included that in its title.
shit, are you talkin about the MOVIE? from back in the dingdang olden days?
Masters of the Universe: Revelation
Turns out there was a He-Man reboot in 2021 on Netflix that seemed to get no attention.
oh wow. well i can only imagine how bad it is
that sounds about right.
I didn't mind the reboot since I never saw the original but the backstory nonsense was boring as fricking frick. Not everything needs an explanation.
>We really were the Sick Sad World eh Daria?
The real sick sad word was the friends we made along the way.
>No sicker than your average anonymous internet forum poster.
aHR0cHM6Ly9tZWdhLm56L2ZvbGRlci9KYTFYMkNRVCNQZzJrdFpRMHJTd0VMd19pOHVrMDZn
Aw shit anon, what a haul.
god damnit I cant remember how to translate these, its like some kind of hex code bullshit and then there is a mega link or something. Anyone want to spoon feed the feeble old man?
shit I just had to relearn this myself the other day
and i've already forgotten it. you're on the right track, but there's a specific-
oh I found it where I bookmarked it from last time.
uh, instead of telling you, I'll change the subject. wasn't mario 64 a pretty Based game
that is literally the only episode that can *always* be skipped in any rewatch of the show
what the frick where the writers high on when they wrote that
i heard someone say it was based on MTV pressuring them to do holiday episodes, so they're like "okay here you go, we did all of them. now shut up"
well that makes some sense
also hahahaha I love it when show crews do shit out of spite
my favorite has to be Dr. Hutchinson from Rocko's Modern Life
the creator got lambasted for reacting to some normie fricks at a seminar or something asking for the show to teach good messages with "cartoons shouldn't teach messages" and other sanity, and the network came to him like your fricking shift manager after a customer complains, saying they wanted them to add a female character with a real HOOK!
so they made a deranged dentist with a hook for a hand.
oh and that one time when Phineas and Ferb had an episode where an executive is tied to a chair and forced to watch a pilot, then gives notes that the platypus should have a girlfriend, which I guess is a note they KEPT getting. they stopped getting it after that.
What's wrong with those episodes?
The former is written as an explicit "frick you" to those who waited five years for the Fashion Club to self-destruct and the later is so hackishly written (complete with basic b***h failures for how schools work) that it might as well be written by an AI, combined with the fact that it features a plot where Daria is written explicitly out of character to hammer home the theme of season five, which was the Last Jedification of Daria as a pathetic complainer who does nothing.
>The former is written as an explicit "frick you" to those who waited five years for the Fashion Club to self-destruct
NO. FRICK.
I just started watching this for the first time, PLEASE tell me that Sandi gets some kind of comeuppance. Quinn is a lost soul trying her best goddammit:
Well, Sandi kinda gets the shock of her life when Quinn straight up confesses that Daria is her sister and when Sandi tried to get the whole club to laght at Quinn for it she was met with a "well, duh" everybody, even the moronic asian girl (Tiffany I think) already knew Daria was Quinn's sister.
to be fair, the other Fashion Club members were pretty sick of Sandi's shit at that point, so it's possible they were all "well, duh" just so they could shit on Sandi
still a great moment, tho'
its the little laugh that gets me
also shit like this shows Quinn has a good head on her shoulders she just chooses to deal with the world in the way she does because she finds it most effective at getting what she wants.
Daria is way too hard on Quinn.
someday, Quinn is going to hear that flat, deadpan voice in her head mocking her for doing something stupid and shallow, and listen to it. and realize why she said all that stuff.
Quinn was a social prostitute for one year when she was 14.
Actually, someone else called her out on her popularity bullshit in the movie. And she genuinely respected the guy after that, though Daria had to console her after after that.
yeah if anyone blames quinn, they are missing the point
girls like this aren't born, they're made. society gave them zero motivation to acquire depth or integrity, and their parents spoiled them because they're too CUTE to punish.
i know how you feel anon but sometimes the greatest victory is the battle not fought
>Yeah, BOLLOCKS!
Fizz Ed at least has Ms. Li losing her goddamn mind, and a company being total unreasonable douches to try to weasel out of sponsoring the school.
uh that's a big no on both counts.
I suppose those are valid complaints that just didn't bother me. Like Gravity Falls, I mainly enjoy it as a silly comedy.
If this show came out today they'd make Daria and Jane lesbians
Despite Jane literally saying she was straight in the original
You cannot have straight female friends in shows anons. Regardless, the real issue would be that all the good points the show made would be distorted in a modern age.
I liked in that one promo bit when they're talking about something something lesbians and Jane goes "~I'M~ a lesbian!" all cheerily, the way one might be like "you're from idaho? no kiddin' I'M from idaho!"
and Daria just flatly squashes her joke "no you're not."
that shit was hilarious.
exactly. and the thing about beating yourself up is, it's unproductive. the devil wants you to think yourself unworthy of improvement or forgiveness, so that you won't even try.
>and the thing about beating yourself up is, it's unproductive. the devil wants you to think yourself unworthy of improvement or forgiveness
So turning to God and religion is just a cope for when you realize how worthless, irrelevant, uneducated, and hate-filled you are? Got it. At least people who pretend to get validation from anime girls admit their obsession is fantasy, lmao.
see? it works.
>"I'm gonna create an imaginary scenario to get outraged over!"
Conservatives, ladies and gentlemen.
>ladies and gentlemen
Don't push your binary gender agenda on me, Christofascist
Just look at some of the recent reboots like He-Man, Velma, and even Ren & Stimpy Adult Party.
>mom is tomboy as frick
>always mistaken as lesbein back then even with her looks
>lesbein classmate actually tried to propose to her back then
>got married to a happy go lucky tomboy enjoyer.
>dad is a stay at home husband while mom works.
Daria too, tell me she didn't fall for Trent.
YES!
yes. a lot. i love her.
I wanted to frick Quinn.
Literally the worst out of the fashion club.
Sandi exists though.
And I want to impregnate Quinn.
Stacy >>> *
I want to get Quinn pregnant.
this episode turned me on
>Daria getting talked into something she didn't want happening to her body by Trent
>Holding his hand
hnng the metaphors. Speaks to that deep down part of me, just as sure as eating a turkey leg off the bone.
cartoon girls you mean? yeah they aren't allowed anymore. though I think that's turning back around.
why would trent make her do this?
Trent didn’t make her do anything. He encouraged her to but it was her choice. Trent wanted half off a piercing.
Trent didn't make Daria do shit
stop thinking Daria had no agency
the entire show is about her always having agency from doing anything with anyone
doing something for someone else is as close to being human as one can be
you realize the definition of 'making someone' is flexible enough to handle everything from gentle coercion to straight-up mind control, right?
no, only moron smooth brains make that argument during any litigation that require even a fraction of objective reasoning
until someone physically or financially forces you to do something is it coercion
we're not talking litigation, we're talking about casual conversation, here, on an argentinian breadmaking BBS. when someone says "he made her" it could go as weak as 'he asked her'
ehhh she had the (typically asian) 'pushy parents need me to succeed' angle. and i liked her parents, they felt really believable as well-meaning push-harders who had to work hard to get where they are, and don't understand that, by pushing their kids to do the same, they're giving the lesson of "effort = rewards" rather than it being largely about luck and the blessings of a higher power.
>gets a total of two scenes of focused dialogue in the entire run of the show
>becomes the most under rated background character
It's just sad she ends up settling for the nerdy creep
Jenn is the most underrated
NO DIALOGUE!!
Girl's like Daria don't wear skirts.
no, girls like Daria, they'd wear unflattering clothes that hide their figures
The skirt hides her thighs
Daria or Quinn?
Jane
I'd frick Quinn.
Brittany
She was the nicest person in the show
>when you show your athletic prowess
Still find it funny people acting like Jane being athletic us out of nowhere. She's shown to do early morning jogs in the show
They think she is a clone of Daria, So most chums would be supprised that she is probably more worldly and outgoing as a character.
Jane is the girl who showed pity to Daria and became her friend out of Habbit more then the *magnetic* character of Daria.
Jane was an outcast herself but more because of a lack of direction than anything else. She has more social skills than Daria but no real inclination to use them.
She was not.Jane was actually the art brat who had a punk brother and had some dating game. Daria was the pure outcast.
That messy hair and those slight blushes make it seem like they just got caught making out.
What's with all the Daria threads as of late? Seems like every time I visit this board there's always one up.
she's cute and we miss the 90s really, really hard. like so bad.
every one of these threads, I fantasize I will find a daria GF somehow.
Personally I want a Quinn gf.
isn't that kind of easy to find?
i mean as easy as any girl which isn't very
that does not qualify as being-a-gf.
>that does not qualify as being-a-gf.
It does for the time that she's with you.
you aren't just bfgf because you say you are.
Thus, it was still a commitment on her end to be with this person, despite her doubts.
i bet you think people can self-identify too
Dating is a social construct, a verbal agreement that you'll commit your romance to one person. How is that in any way comparable to the horrors trannies inflict on themselves?
things you say and invent in your head aren't real, is the point. I want only a real gf. not just a said-so.
I think I'd be tricky finding someone like her WITHOUT the reclusiveness to intimacy, but hey, who am I to judge.
ah but that's the same mistake her parents and teachers kept making
she doesn't shy away from being with people, she just hates most people. I feel like she would like me, and we'd be right as rain.
Yeah, she definitely wouldnt. I can tell by your demeanor that you're exactly the type of person who she doesnt like
psh what do you know
all I know is the scene looks a bit awkward because of their big heads. That's a limit of a stylized cartoon, a lot of things involving contact with the upper torso require you to bend the heads out of the way, which then makes the movements less "oh i didn't realize"
>the horrors trannies inflict on themselves
Trans people dont see it as a horror, its you and your ilk that view it as a horror. Why dont you mind your own business?
>Trans people dont see it as a horror
Yeah, that's the problem.
Probably shouldn't reply to the mentally ill
Yes
Its called freedom of self expression, its the American way
If she was yours or anyone else's girlfriend, you just know she'd find any opportunity she could to worm her way out of that relationship.
>Daria and South Park both came out in the same year
Wouldn't it be weird if Daria was going on it's 26th season?
shudder me timbers
It was already getting redundant by the 3rd.
What's with the onslaught of Daria threads lately?
you're standing on my neck
>Do you think we would ever revisit the shows that became the foundations to our world views 25 years later?
>I'd sooner believe we'd revisit the state penitentiary if that were ever the case.
hehe. in-character.
the foundations of my worldviews came more from shit like that movie Angus. Daria just agreed with an existing worldview. and it was nice to hear.
lay off the anti-commies though, Jake. that's not 'extremism'
>Daria goes out of her way to be depressing, shoving her cynical views when they're not wanted/needed, putting people down needlessly, shares miserable facts or statistics unwarranted
>Complains about being called the "misery chick" and hates that people view her as a downer
Worse that the show treats her complaints as justified, or at the very least, she doesn't get called out enough.
it's amazing, it's like you didn't watch the show. instead you just watched everyone who always posts that in these threads.
I watched the entire series. She literally goes on a rant about being called the "misery chick" even though everyone is right to call her that.
Maybe I do miss out on stuff,
>but this attitude is what works for me now.
S02E08
plus she's not really cutting everyone off, she's putting up walls against people who want to hurt her, or who do so inadvertently. she puts up no such walls against nice ones like Jodie, hence honest discussions like this, punctuated with sarcasm just to cut through the grease of the seriousness. Though part of the show's messages that really resonate is how.. once you get into the defensive habit, it's hard to get out of it just because someone's being nice.
-especially- when people are fake nice and then it turns out they were fricking with you and tricking you into some shit.. but that didn't happen to her thankfully.
>but that didn't happen to her thankfully.
It's the most realistic slice of life show I've ever seen which is one reason I love the show so much.
wet daria is cute
You think her panties show through her wet clothes?
not through a black skirt, no. but I do like the idea of her dressing lighter one hot summer and then getting hit by sudden rain
What kind of panties would Daria wear?
I can't believe the only time Daria ever expressed physical affection to somebody was in one of the last scenes of the whole fricking show.
Daria hugged Trent at end of the Daria! musical episode. Otherwise she's just a dead fish when others hug her.
They should have fricked when Daria comes home for college break or Trent plays a gig at Daria’s college town.
>The impression I get is Daria has this preconceived ideas of high school being a collection of small brained, hormone addled sociopaths and attention seekers
her school actually was filled with them
But they were, by and large, not malicious about it. The closest you get to vindictive buttholes are the fashion club and they are so self involved they seem to barely interact with their peers.
Ironically it was played down from the pilot. You could tell they were going for a more vindictive animated teen comedy. But like all things when it comes to entertainment for teens. It was watered down to be safe, and marketable appeal to the liberal feminist mind set of the times.
They pared it down quite a bit for the series. she might occasionally get a little joy out of messing with people, but she would always rather they just be unworthy of it.
fair enough but that feels like they did it out of obligation, and in the case of kevin, it was lurid curiosity about what's wrong with her. he's a complete child. A child without any boundaries. Daria's the only one willing to tell him no.
literally only kevin and brittany were 'nice' and by nice I mean smiling when they delivered deep cuts to her for being a brain.
I see sarcasm is still a lost art.
evi-fricking-dently
but being a dick to misfits is still alive and well.
>Guy is into zoot suits and general 40s aesthetics
>Daria goes on this autistic rant about how black people and women were "le oppressed" back then and his enjoyment of an older culture is problematic and that he's an butthole
again, totally didn't watch it
maybe you should leave. like right now. was that you in that one harriet the spy thread too, making shit up?
shitstirrers are not part of Cinemaphile. go away.
Your trolling attempts are boring.
It's not the point. The point is she seems to think the guy can't enjoy a certain old aesthetic because certain people weren't happy back then.
>The point is she seems to think the guy can't enjoy a certain old aesthetic because certain people weren't happy back then.
Ah, you are correct. That would also go hand in hand with people who love the free sex drug loving era of the 60s that conservative complain about. You deal with both kinds of people, and not just the ones YOU cannot stand.
Not him but holy shit, shut the FRICK up about politics when it has nothing to do with Daria.
let's just keep hitting the minus button on those posts and talk about Daria
remember when her dress didn't fit? and she got along with discount Stephen Wright?
You know, they wouldn't have been bad together if he wasn't possibly related to her
cousins are okay
also yes. perfect type. but they don't live near each other.
>up about politics when it has nothing to do with Daria.
did you even watch the show?
It was never about politics.
It was about a show about teen and main focus was the frumpy Anti-social loner and how she deals with the class.
just ignore people trying to inject modern idiocy into the past to justify it. we've literally caught the soviets doing this, we know it's a psyop. ignore.
>we've literally caught the soviets doing this, we know it's a psyop. ignore.
Meds. Now.
Ni hau citisen.
The CCP awards you 2 good boy points and reduct 10 for not managing to convince the round eyes.
Idiocracy is real apparently
exactly. and in ways we never thought possible.
Nope, because this is from the view point of Daria and she sees everybody as a idiot which harms her more.
Beavus and Butthead is idiocracy because its from their view point.
oy god, kid. you should talk less and listen more. you're not ready for public posting yet. develop your insight.
Ok what was wrong with my post? Why do you think her behavior is not her biggest enemy of existance?
Ignore him. He just autistically screeches at everyone to stop posting and that they didn't watch the show.
except women and black people were oppressed back then and even now in most places
Even if this was true, it's not like the dude liked the aesthetic because he's some le evil bigoted chud. For her to bring that up is pretty reductive and narrow minded.
Helen is one of the most underrated Cinemaphile MILFs.
frick marry kill
Why would any person want a woman with dead weight and a superiority complex? All three look like they would b***h at me for hours.
Helen has the bigger breasts, and dotting mother. Obvious the better woman.
Amy all three
Frick Helen

no, I prefer the jane. She shoulda had a tv series, not that dork daria
Quinn is for ________________________
grooming
yeh she does a lot of that
Would you jerk off using her hair?
I'd finger her while doing it.
Okay Jamie
I mean that is a good use of soft material.
that's weird but also kind of authentic I guess. pizza is at its core just seasoned bread
that is a question we'll never know the answer to.
Like I'd have her wrap her hair around my wiener and jerk me off to completion.
lazy, I imagined using my own hand
Covering her silky hair and her face in cum.
If you want to laugh, it's not that good.
You are better off watching a YouTube compilation of jokes.
But that's just my opinion, I thought it was supposed to be funny.
Daria is for ______________________

most desirable characters
For me are
1) Helen
2) Amy
3) Brittany
4) Jane
5) Quinn
6) Daria
>Meg
I'm surprised she didn't get in trouble for all those gropings
Jane is hot and I'm tired of pretending she's not
Would you impregnate her?
Of course
At Brittany's house laundry room if possible
And when she shows you the positive pregnancy test?
I'll marry Jane and form a family with her
How many kids would you have with her?
Same number of her mom
i'm not into blue eyes, visible lips, that wide face, or whatever the frick is going on with her hair. but her voice and personality are great.
>or whatever the frick is going on with her hair
I think it's just supposed to be a bob haircut but Jane keeps it pushed back behind an ear on one side.
hm maybe. it doesn't look like it to me. and for some reason she always felt like she had a side-shave even though she didn't (probably because of how all the hair just stops abruptly above the mouth level)
Alls I know is I would love to see how they adapted it in 3d. The lack of Daria figurines will always annoy me.
I want to have six kids with Daria.
or two. just two.
>La La La La La
>do you like Daria
I'd like Daria to have some more meat in her bones.
I wish Trent got more porn.
I got some naughty ideas for a porn comic, I even got the cash to throw at the right person, but I have yet to find the right person.
Um
this would be a weird time to er, 'audition' but, check out the Daria tag on Paheal, maybe go to the second page and scroll down a bit. You know, if you see an artist you like, that might be one taking commissions. And he may or may not be able to do the backgrounds too if they aren't too bad.
what kind of naughty ideas? Hopefully a lot of the same feels as that piercing episode.
Gimme your twitter, miss or mister.
I useth not social media! A pox on thee for suggesting it.
I only use social media for porn because I'm not really social.
(i do have a friend and we use discord to chat about meaningless slop)
Yeah discord is okay.
Art belongs on art sites! paheal, pixiv, uh.. soon Sheezyart, it's comin' back in a big way! I might grab an account when it does.
I might just make a paheal account so link me to your profile thingy.

still one of my favorite cartoons
"HELLOOOO"
remember that time she handed ms. li's ass to her for violating daria's rights with her art.
It's a good show but the idea of Daria not being a femcel ruins it quite a bit.
is this e-girl quinn
boy you know what
I now think it is and nobody can correct me.
is that Dale
you know, Dale and Ben Franklin would get along well.
something akin to Life is Strange
No her name is rustina shakleford shaleford.
reckon he meant the poster of ben franklin in the back
>Hey baby
>You, uhhh, like older men?
She has a Quinn-like disgust of low-status males.
Could Daria work as a video game? What genre? Whatever it is, it needs a dedicated "EXCUSE ME" button.
point-and-click maybe. The B&B one was really good.
also a dedicated "la la la la la" button.
as a training weg porn one, yes.
Daria's got some fat breasts.
She was bustier than she let on in that unflattering jacket.
hnnnnggg
I like her better as she normally dresses, but this was... an interesting episode
I kinda wish she didn't have such a frumpy hairstyle, but beyond that she is the hottest.
you kiddin? that was an amazing time.. getting on the internet, hanging out with a bunch of other misfit loners, who realized we like being alone -together- and watching daria and being like 'frick yeah'
>they don’t know
I love how the hairstyles look abd I'm going crazy with how big Daria's boobs are, reminds me of
She looked so hot in that one, she was sexier than she showed.
Does anyone else remember the good old days?
>pic extremely related
undoubtedly the funniest thing to come out of that period of daria posting on Cinemaphile is that one of the writegays still semi-regularly uploads to their ao3, like those japanese soldiers stuck on an island that didn’t know the war was over.
https://ao3.org/works/50518807
i love people like that
there's one daria fanartist who is also doin his same old thing, no changes. you know the one.
Interesting that it’s as much about Jane being into massive fatties as it is about Daria actually being one. Don’t think I’ve encountered self-aware fetish content like that before.
i appreciate people doing that
it's like that webcomic Creamy Beamy, I didn't even realize it was a fat fetish thing for a ridiculously long amount of time.
Ok Muertitos or IntraGalactic or even Flying Suit Reiko I get, but the second Cheesecake showed up you’d have to be pretty dense to not pick up on Creamy Beamys themes. She’s literally a walking unhinged W2W architect
Cant decide if OOC or not.
We don’t talk about 2020/2021 Daria threads.
As far as I’m concerned those 9 months don’t exist
What happened?
Nothing happened.
Doug Walker
Who?
the nostalgia critic
he remembers it so you don't have to
Something tells me there's some Dipper goes to taco bell tier shit in this.
It's just Fat Daria stuff.
I remember one green where Daria just farted when her parents convinced her and her mom got upset.
convinced her of what
it's almost like they are both just wearing regular clothes.
that's a big maybe from me.
I meant confronted her, my mistake.
that makes a little more sense, but I feel like I'd need the context
and I probably don't want it
that is incredibly true.
>accusing the other guy in the elevator of farting
did you think I would just buy this? Or are you just shitting into the wind
>did you think I would just buy this? Or are you just shitting into the wind
The other anon is correct. Frick off newbie
I literally just now realized the reason there's always someone complaining it's unrealistic for teenagers who eat pizza to not be fat... is because he writes the fatfiction
they ate pizza without cheese. that probably takes off a lot of calories.
Daria's pajamas rule, but I was disappointed she kept her socks on
seriously how do you find a daria gf, there are no more random pizza joints right
before Daria got a boyfriend, yes
after that (and the switchover to full digital animation - it's not hard to spot), not so much
my favorite episode is still Arts 'n Crass because of Helen defending Daria and Jane at the end
Jane > Daria, fite me
Daria was a great waifu.
Its just shit that it came from the shitshow that was Beevis and Butthead,
Because, frick B&B.
B&B was hilarious, anon. I’m sorry you can’t see why having a regularly smart girl interact with two white trash morons is so funny.
>Because, frick B&B.
Holy shit, the coldest of contrarian takes. Kill thy self wannabe asshat.
Damn, if Daria's boobs are that big what would Brittany look like?
think Anri Okita
*after* the pregnancy
pretty much every line in the show is gold
Imagine Jake's reaction to Quinn getting pregnant.
Pretty much this.
How would Daria react?
Sustained laughter.
How about Helen?
i would pay fricking cash for this piece
don't get me wrong, I could see the author was interested in it, but maybe i'm just too innocent but that didn't come off as fetishy until much further in.
The eyes remind me of Evan Dorkin's work (you know Eltingville)
Would have been on the same grounds as this show.
I could definitely see Jane becoming a pothead in college to the dismay of Daria, who loathes cannabis subculture
what's not to like? cheech and chong are hilarious. beats the hell out of beer-drinking fratboy subculture or that weird creepy foray we had into 'straightedge' around that time.
I imagine the smoke would just make her cough and she'd think it smells bad, but she understands other people are a bit more.. anxious, and need a relaxative. she's already chill so she doesn't.
I don't think Jane would enjoy losing control that much
>losing control
jesus it's not like getting shitfaced drunk, you just relax.
I like girls who wear boots
or sandals. basically you should be either as shod as possible, or as unshod.
What was your favorite Sick Sad World bit?
>Meet the fly-fishing pathologist who uses human organs as bait.
>A Liver Runs Through it, next on Sick, Sad World.
who would be more popular on tumblr if they had an accound there jane or daria
firstly how is that even a question
secondly why would either of them be on there
no, you know what, make that firstly.
Jane pre-porn ban, Daria post-porn ban but was on longer than Jane and stuck around.
Love it
Jane is for ________________________

rare
If Daria's quips weren't amusing, you'd all despise her.
malcolm from malcolm in the middle was just male daria
except he was an butthole and he came from a family of buttholes instead of well-meaning vapid workaholics
well okay Hal is basically Jake, that part is right.
Handsome & Purdy was a pretty okay movie all things considered, but the sequel sucked
Like it's some bizarro world where the popular wish they could be unpopular, but can't figure it out.
this made me laugh pretty hard.
i think we all had a sister who drew kinda like this.
this was drawn by a caricature artist in show
indeed. but the combination of the classical caricaturist style with the subject matter of vapid teen girls... it brings that old art trend to mind. the Bratz era.
didn't think of it like that
it does have the child innocence vibe
What would a talking Daria doll say?
>Hey! (flatly, as if she does not appreciate you pulling the cord)
>Great, you have basic grip-and-pull skills. I'm sure that will serve you well in your career
>Don't bother looking up my skirt, unless you're turned on by instructions on how I shouldn't go in the washing machine
>No seriously. Don't put me in the washing machine. Then I would have to stop having this scintillating conversation
>If you understood how it felt to have your cord pulled, you'd leave mine alone a bit more often
>Oh, was the talking Quinn doll sold out? I'm sorry.
>Mmm.
>You're pretty cool, let's get some pizza
>Just to clarify, please do not try to feed me pizza. Because then I'd need to go in the washing machine. We've been over that part.
10/10
Excuse me while I pick up what's left of my sides.
love this art, we need more darittany like it
cheerleading together is shipping art for you? that must be awesome to be so easily aroused.
anon
two characters are standing with each other
they are practically engaged
>Brittany with jiggle physics
That would have kicked the show's ratings up a notch or two.
That was the movie.
oh and it's okay, we all remained unsocialized bums. because the world went to shit. simple as. how well would I have done in the alternate timeline? who knows. but I sure had no chance in this one.
anyone else back in the day not watch Daria because the name of the show gave you the impression it'd be some urban thing?
>urban
...??
I mean it's not a normal name, but I guess it's greek or something. To my ear in the late 90s, it sounded like a Moesha or a Laquisha
>anyone else back in the day not watch Daria
Back in the day, I didn't watch Daria because we only had 12 channels.
Does anyone know if that Daria & Jodie spinoff is still happening?
christ on a cracker, let's hope not
As far as I can tell there hasn't really been much news about it since then)
I really, really like this art.
it's cute, right?
finding a good style that captures this show is difficult. Daria is drawn with a really long face that I don't think she's meant to actually have. Lotta space between nose and upper lip, makes her look more dour and hangdog.
Got a sauce?
for the pic in question? Signature seems to say 'Meo'
B+B seriously holds up. it's brilliant. My favorite moment in recent memory has to be the boys going out and digging holes in yards trying to strike oil, ultimately hitting the sewer line.. because the Beverly Hillbillies gave them the idea. It was telling everyone "yeah, idiots will imitate TV, but don't blame our show just because our morons are more overt about it"
Man I haven't watched Daria since I was a kid and I barely remember any of it. I really should do a rewatch of it sometime. I know I'll appreciate the humor a lot more.
On that note, I should do the same with Beavis n Butthead.
>I really should do a rewatch of it sometime.
I recommend you do. Daria really works as a binge show. Even though it's episodic for the most part episode feed into each other well, and if you oay attention you can notice some character growth, not just the main characters.
I feel bad for Mack Daddy. Imagine your voice changing in 11th grade. twice.
what trent imagines every time he needs a pickmeup
Trent smashes goth puss on the regs. He isn't a creep to try to go with Jane's shut in introverted friend.
here's a tip
if you use the word 'creep' you are not in line with the late 90s mindset.
nothing creepier than saying it's cool to hit on and taking advantage of under age shut ins
leave. you have everywhere else to be, leave us in the past. we don't go into the present and bother you.
self inserting as Trent means you are 90s cool
not visually insertion as him and being a creep
No, I wont leave
>you have everywhere else to be, leave us in the past. we don't go into the present and bother you.
People like you are constantly barging into /lgbt/ making fools of yourselves and insulting trans and gay people
Why do they have sex hair?
I want to be Jane's nude model so bad.
How about seeing Quinn nude?
I mean sure, but my fantasy is more about Jane painting me and making snarky comments and it ends with rough lovemaking on the canvas.
Who looks better nude? Quinn or Jane?
Jane has a bush and pit hair, probably.
Quinn has maybe some peach fuzz at most, I say Jane.
I mean I'd frick Quinn into a puddle.
Hey man, different strokes for different folks, I just like plain girls.
I'd also impregnate her.
I dunno I think Daria's the natchy one, Jane shaves bald at a time when leaving SOME behind was still pretty common because it goes in line with her whole Suicide Girls schtick.
but in college, she might stop.
>Brittany: Oh, my gosh! Look at the Jell-O!
>Daria: It's jiggling.
>Jane: Worried about the competition?
What do you think was going on with Brittany was pushing her boobs on Daria? I think in context is that Brittany is unaware of her boob moghing Daria, but when I watch the webk there's space where she didn't need to also feels like shebtakes a little longer than dhe needs to to back off Daria.
I wish we could get a .gif of Brittany's jiggle physics.
Who's hotter? Quinn or Brittany?
quinn
Tell me how she's hotter.
she's not a prostitute
Do you want to impregnate her?
Yes
>They just keep makin' up new RULES!
>And ENFORCIN' them on everyone, like it's always been that way.
I like how Jane is in a T-shirt with bikini graphic while Daria is wearing the sports top.
that does kinda speak to a slight difference between them. jane is more seemingly outgoing, but actually quite vulnerable inside, wears her facade as defense. people accuse daria of that, and of being unsocial, but neither is true. she's just super real, and what you see is actually what you get. But that leaves her inexperienced when it comes to areas where "what would daria do" is "she doesn't know"
i need pictures of Daria in her underwear. stat!
Anyone else prefer a Daria gf over a Jane gf despite what's seen in the show? I think I'm too autistic for Jane and Daria appeals to me more.
Jane is not for me, she's merely better than a normie. Daria is the.. what is it people say? 'patrician' choice. I want a gloomy intellectual gf like you wouldn't believe.
Jane is slacker.
Jane is cracker
Jodie is blacker
daria's feet
>Nice bed.
>Hey, Mark Twain. Huckleberry Finn, right
What did Trent really think of Daria? Was he just being nice to his little sister’s friend? Did he think she was cool? Was he into her?
>just being nice
Trent is not the kind to be fake nice. you can tell when he's just being polite and doesn't like someone
>did he think she was cool
absofrickinglutely. Maybe the coolest person he knows
>was he into her
i think, a little. like, she has potential. but his life is one of endless hedonism, be drifts between gigs and doesn't really think too hard about future relationships, just has flings with skeezy chicks. and he's clearly not looking at Daria the same way as those.
If Jane wasn't his sister, he could have been into her.
man I should have learned guitar
I shoulda learned to play them drums.
But seriously, I did learn guitar when I was 12 and it still never got me laid. What a ripoff.
that's because the act of playing the guitar by itself isn't what women like. what they like is when everyone likes you for how cool you are. if you can't turn the guitar into a "coolness" thing then nobody will care. women only like you if they see that other people like you. I bet you never even tried to play wonderwall at some homosexual college party.
did you grow your hair kinda long and go to parties where you play some white blues? because there are indeed more steps.
its never to late. better to be a 60 year old that is learning to play guitar than a 90 year old who that is learning to play guitar
He kissed her in one episode.
On the cheek.
SE03E13 - Jane's Addition:
>Trent - Maybe we just have different ideas about what a commitment is.
She could have fixed him
honestly yeah, I mean he'd have to take a step too, but it wouldn't have to be a big one.
Trent is pretty cool in retrospective.
damn right he is
that said, that style of talk-singing he does is fricking terrible. the Happy Herb's jingle was ironically the best thing he ever did.
>Double meanings? Fuel for shippers?
It was a barely-veiled "sinking" of the ship to clear the way for her to be with Tom without it being a love-triangle.
the thing that makes "The Misery Chick" so relatable is we've all experienced that
>oh hey anon, (thing i've been forced to think about) happened, you're into (vague genre that belongs in), right? how are you taking it
whether it be popular shows that are technically based on things you used to respect, or philosophies. the people who didn't think about something until it was forced into their world are not good for conversations about that thing.
Daria was okay. Good soundtrack.
Yes, I'm sure it would be a lot more relatable now than when I originally watched before I was even a teen.
>daria thread
if you're here go watch downtown

I bought the DVD from Chris directly back in the day.
I did. It's just ok
Why?
??????????????????
would play
you know it's funny, people joke about the giant houses on sitcoms and in animated shows especially, like who could afford that, but topdown videogames have MASSIVE interior spaces
What are the best Jane eccentric episodes?
they perfectly captured how daria would feel to be featured in this magazine
>My horoscope is pisces. please give me a fish. ahi tuna, if you have it.
imagine facefricking her haha
that's mean.. but imagine poking her gently in the cheek with your boober
>boober
i hope you mean boner......
i would love to poke her cheek gently with my small boner though
the boober is the soft spongy part at the end of your dingus
Feminazis want to be Daria so badly. They dress like her without realizing it
who the frick invited you
We were here before you, you just invaded this shit and made it about you.
This is the femcels version of "LITERALLY ME"
>thinks tumblrinos were always here
right, Cinemaphile was a spinoff of tumblr. few people know that.
Just how hairy DO you think Daria is under there?
bush but her max length doesn't go too far.
so you're thinking the coverage area is maxed out but she trims the length down
only if it gets in the way
yeah that makes sense.
Supposedly
I want a Daria/Jane version of MST3K.
i would pay money to hear that
but what kinda movies would they cover
yeah
this would be a treat
just make it commentary tracks of the series
naww that's a little too personal
what if they criticized other turn of the century teen shows, like Undergrads
I want to smell Daria's socks..
I would like to get intimate enough with daria to smell her, but i'm sticking to like, hair, crotch, pits.. feet are for nomming while clean.
Would Daria be a cold fish in bed? seems like she'd be a boring lay. Jane would be more fun.
She would move a bit, but she would be really embarrassed and pretend that it didn't feel as good as it did. She'd probably keep her eyes closed most of the time.
Just a thought of Daria sequel makes my skin crawl
Do you ever wish there was a Daria-esque show that's a satire of today's issues and teens? Or is there no chance for this type of show nowadays.
there's no chance of it being on the right side of any of those issues, that's for fricking sure. Literally goes against the ToS of the streaming services.
Got to give it to them for actually making it accurate to a glyph
i forget, what was the context of him giving her medical advice
also always bugged me how jane's cheekbone goes up to her eyebrow.
>In one episode Daria talks about her biggest fear being becoming an adult with no love partner and living with a cat
>Years later the Creator gives us a look at the future of the cast and her fear becomes reality.
On the bright side, she is still friends with Jane, and Trent and has a segment on a talk show.
The normies have aged more gracefully, who knew
I love how she says "the last time i took one of these tests, they said it could be anything I want" and then in 'boxing daria', we do see a flashback episode where a therapist shows her ink blots and says you might see a herd of beautiful wild ponies running free across the plains
Written backwards, of course. The "Boxing Daria" flashbacks were about her having a hard time so it's odd for her to bring something back from that to mock the psychologist in the earlier episode.
and we know she doesn't remember it very well, so it's probably just a vague memory and a phrase that stuck in her head
which is believable
it is a way to rewrite events you may find traumatic by using memories in your favor
what is? she repeated it pretty accurately
i take it she never asked you out.. but at least you knew one.
obviously it was traumatic for her in a way she blocked out an event caused by her seeing a psychiatristy
she blocked out the stuff with her parents yelling, she remembered going to a therapist
>Parents fighting once gave her trauma
Why was she such a weak b***h?
I wonder how Daria would've turned out if her parents gave her a smack every once in a while.
Quinn*
fixed that for you
i understand how the gyptos felt, profile faces are just easier to draw, but bodies are easier from the front
No. Daria. She probably wouldn't talk back so much if she was smacked a few times.
>Daria is literally me
La la la la la

hhnnnggg this gives me the squishies. This, and cool chill Wendy Corduroy type girls
Yes.
Get with the times gramps. I posted this long before you did.
Daria's skirt is pretty short, actually.
yeah this artist has chosen to give her shorter boots and a massively oversized jacket and skirt.. it's kind of cute actually. I wonder if this is how she dressed a few years ago.
>la la la la la
When I was 20 I was friends with a girl like Daria and I had a big crush on her.
>Oh good; another pointless thread come and gone.
>Surely this wont become a common trend around here.
