I always assumed it was just anything a Green Lantern ring could do, Parallax could do even stronger and without a ring.

All what Hal can do plus can bending reality, possession and project fear.

So how can Parallax use the same kind of energy as a Green Lantern ring if it itself is the unrelated yellow entity of fear?
Or was all the power Hal absorbed from destroying the Central battery on Oa completely separate from Parallax himself? Would that not imply that Hal is capable of becoming Parallax without actually being possessed?

He does with Hal as his puppet.

You'd think since green lanterns are will powered and his will was being dominated, it wouldn't work.
Yeah, but this isn't just Parallax, this is Parallax Hal, before the retcon, he was still able to do good things from time to time, and after the retcon, they explained that as Hal's true nature acting against Parallax, like when he sacrificed himself to reignite the sun.
Hal went mad with grief when Cyborg Superman destroyed his city while he was away on some space mission. He started killing and stealing other lantern rings believing all the extra power could bring everyone back from the death.
They later retconed it to be Hal possessed by the evil entity.
I'll be the first one to say that fictional "who would win arguments" are moronic, and technically Ollie has already beaten Parallax before, but I feel like this encounter is going to be less of a fight, and more of a talk between friends, even if one of them is infected with an evil yellow space bug.
None, the only chance would be if parallax do a Jean Grey and let himself to be killed.
>that's why his best bet is to appeal to his humanity.
What humanity does a bug-dragon monster have?
I don't read a lot of comics and maybe I'm recalling Zero Hour badly but isn't Parallax Hal some type of character that believes himself to be a good guy and also Parallax despite being the incarnation of fear has more complex thoughts than just "Kill kill kill I'm evil haha"?
>but isn't Parallax Hal some type of character that believes himself to be a good guy and also Parallax despite being the incarnation of fear has more complex thoughts than just "Kill kill kill I'm evil haha"?
Yes but only when Hal is the host.
Yellow bug Parallax never actually went anywhere. Technically he should be fricking around the universe right now since the Central Power Battery blew up again and Hal's battery quit working.
Reboot =/= relaunch
The current GL run is also not a jumping on point at all, it's in the middle of an extremely convoluted status quo regarding the United Planets and John. It can still be read because (get ready) every new writer who starts a run can be someone's first issue even if it's not part of an editorial event
It's the only Legion they have right now, Johns probably has plans to fix that and bring back the one that most people like, but considering he can barely get his JSA book out in time, don't expect him to touch the Legion any time soon.
I would say maybe they should give the Legion to a writer who will actually have new and good ideas but I don't even know if that's anyone at DC right now. Johnsboot Legion was shit and Johnsboot Legion 2.0 will be even worse.
The "Legion of Four Worlds" thing is obviously setting up the Bendis Legion to simply be yet another separate version of the Legion that exists, it's still Garth Ranzz, just a separate version from the old ones, it's not like racebent alternate versions of characters haven't been a thing before.
I just wish this moronic shit can be over so we can get to the actual Green Arrow comic.
Although considering the current quality I'm not sure I'd keep on reading regardless.
I had an idea that because the Convergence Parallax never had the Spectre as part of him to purge the space bug out, he's completely bonded with it and cannot be separated from it anymore, he just IS Parallax now.
A multiverse version of Brainiac abducts a bunch of cities from different universes because that's what Brainiacs do. He has someone keep an eye on all of them but that person gets bored or whatever and pits the heroes of each against each other. Eventually they convince him to help them and overthrow Brainiac. Superbro punches him so had he regresses. All the people get sent back to where they came from. The end. Some of that might be part of Future's End. It was a filler event for when DC was moving their headquarters to another city. It was a huge flop and almost killed DC. Johns pitched Rebirth and saved them. Then Didio fricked it up when Johns went to work on movies and tv shows. The end again.
Pre-Flashpoint Superman and Lois were trapped in one of the cities, they had Jon while they were trapped there and when it ended they somehow wound up in the DCnu as separate entities from nu52 Clark and Lois (who coincidentally both died in separate stories not too long after)
The pre-Flashpoint versions merged with the essences of the nu52 counterparts and their histories got combined and that is part of how we got Rebirth
None of the books from last week got storytimed, barely anyone noticed it seemes.
It was a short appearance, and I'm still hoping Johns can hurry the frick up and fix the Legion already.
I made a thread when the preview came out and it just instantly died.
I’m resigned that us Legionfans are fricked until Hickman eventually gets convinced and then just pray that his popularity means some good spin off books.
Here's an easy way to tell for every DC character: are they Batman or a Batman accessory? If yes, they've been doing stuff; if no, they haven't existed.
Hal (like all GLs) is exactly as powerful as the writer's competency allows, meaning that with a particularly skilled writer Hal could be stronger than Clark yes
Not a lot of people would know he's out there existing aside from like Booster Gold and maybe a few others, also he hasn't really done anything bad recently plus every crisis that happens needs more attention than him so it's easy to lose track on him
So there are technically two Parallaxs right now?
You could look at it that way yes, though given just how long fear bug and that Hal have been bonded I'm sure it's a bit more complex than that
I know for a fact that Jeremy Adams has Green Lantern in the bag, but it's Phillip Kennedy Johnson who I am worried about. His side story with John is boring and could potentially set back Jeremy with it.
It's been a minute since I read World's End but I interpreted this Parallax to be more or less how Hal Parallax was understood the month before Rebirth came out and that there is no entity within him.
What chance does Green Arrow against a monster like Parallax?
>Is it finally time for Hal to face off against Parallax?
God, I wish.
He has no chance, that's why his best bet is to appeal to his humanity.
>that's why his best bet is to appeal to his humanity.
What humanity does a bug-dragon monster have?
I mean, it's not all Parallax, Hal is still in there, he still had some moments of good, like when he sacrificed himself to reignite the sun.
Why didn't Parallax use his powers to give Carol a bigger ass?
What even ARE Parallax's powers exactly?
I always assumed it was just anything a Green Lantern ring could do, Parallax could do even stronger and without a ring.
All what Hal can do plus can bending reality, possession and project fear.

He does with Hal as his puppet.
You'd think since green lanterns are will powered and his will was being dominated, it wouldn't work.
But isn't Parallax an all evil entity?
Yeah, but this isn't just Parallax, this is Parallax Hal, before the retcon, he was still able to do good things from time to time, and after the retcon, they explained that as Hal's true nature acting against Parallax, like when he sacrificed himself to reignite the sun.

It didn't help that the guardians refused to help him cope with his grief in any capacity, basically telling him to "get over it".
It did make Hal look like a punkass in comparison to Kilowag who lost his entire race.
Hal IS a punkass compared to Kilochad
I'll be the first one to say that fictional "who would win arguments" are moronic, and technically Ollie has already beaten Parallax before, but I feel like this encounter is going to be less of a fight, and more of a talk between friends, even if one of them is infected with an evil yellow space bug.
This is the same guy who made official strength classes for marvel characters
Pretty sure that came along after Stan no longer had an active role in comics.
>Palallax expects Green Arrow be a hero and try diplomacy or nonleathal boxing glove arrows
>Green Arrow just shoots him in the head in cold blood
Wouldn't Parallax remember their last encounter and just I don't know, hold Star City hostage?
>What chance does Green Arrow against a monster like Parallax?
He did defeat him in Zero Hour.
Yeah with Kyle to hold him back.
Archers always get cool moments against the big bad. Hawkeye had his moment in JLA/Avengers against Krona.
None, the only chance would be if parallax do a Jean Grey and let himself to be killed.
I don't read a lot of comics and maybe I'm recalling Zero Hour badly but isn't Parallax Hal some type of character that believes himself to be a good guy and also Parallax despite being the incarnation of fear has more complex thoughts than just "Kill kill kill I'm evil haha"?

Yes but only when Hal is the host.
>Yes but only when Hal is the host.
because Hal is such a man without fear the primal fear part of Parrallax doesn't get to him
did you read convergence? fakefan
Is this even the same Parallax from Convergence? Why is he in the far future?
Maybe that's where he's been since the sight of Hal's bead scared him off Earth.
Holy shit they're finally going to follow up on Parallax running around for the last 6 years?
It's about damn time. Maybe we'll also get a followup to evil Tim Drake.
What if Tim gained Parallax's powers?
I actually really like the Hal-Parallax costume, a shame it can't just be a Green Lantern costume.
I love how everyone gets the streak when Parallax takes over. And in the case of Sinestro, bulks out.
Yellow bug Parallax never actually went anywhere. Technically he should be fricking around the universe right now since the Central Power Battery blew up again and Hal's battery quit working.
Do I have to catch on up previous GL runs to get set up with Adams or nah?
Kinda I guess. I quite reading after Johns run and I'm not lost or anything. We are only two issues in however.
No, the whole point of Dawn of DC is to reboot comics for a new jumping on point.
Reboot =/= relaunch
The current GL run is also not a jumping on point at all, it's in the middle of an extremely convoluted status quo regarding the United Planets and John. It can still be read because (get ready) every new writer who starts a run can be someone's first issue even if it's not part of an editorial event
Isn't Ollie jumping through time and space right now?
This scene actually takes place in the Bendis Legion future.
It's time travel bullshit anon, don't expect Parallax Hal to stay after this story.
Okay, but WHY are they still using the Bendis Legion?
It's the only Legion they have right now, Johns probably has plans to fix that and bring back the one that most people like, but considering he can barely get his JSA book out in time, don't expect him to touch the Legion any time soon.

Anon Lightning Lad is black now. There's no unrace bending unless Garth Ranzz happens to have a cousin whose name is also Garth Ranzz
The "Legion of Four Worlds" thing is obviously setting up the Bendis Legion to simply be yet another separate version of the Legion that exists, it's still Garth Ranzz, just a separate version from the old ones, it's not like racebent alternate versions of characters haven't been a thing before.
Earth-247 is Reboot Legion. I’m blanking on ever seeing an Earth-3 version.
I just wish this moronic shit can be over so we can get to the actual Green Arrow comic.
Although considering the current quality I'm not sure I'd keep on reading regardless.
Oh yeah, Parallax has just been running around the DC universe since sometime before Rebirth.
I guess they finally got around to finishing that story.
When is Parallax going to make the Parallax Corps?
I had an idea that because the Convergence Parallax never had the Spectre as part of him to purge the space bug out, he's completely bonded with it and cannot be separated from it anymore, he just IS Parallax now.
Can you guys explain Convergence to me as if I was Hal Jordan?
A multiverse version of Brainiac abducts a bunch of cities from different universes because that's what Brainiacs do. >Then Didio fricked it up when Johns went to work on movies and tv shows.
I'm glad that frick Didio is gone
It's also partially responsible for Jon Kent
Pre-Flashpoint Superman and Lois were trapped in one of the cities, they had Jon while they were trapped there and when it ended they somehow wound up in the DCnu as separate entities from nu52 Clark and Lois (who coincidentally both died in separate stories not too long after)
The pre-Flashpoint versions merged with the essences of the nu52 counterparts and their histories got combined and that is part of how we got Rebirth
My head hurts!
>Future's End
that was good though people just didn't appreciate it
The start was 2edgy4me and then it got genuinely good and then it fell apart halfway through but had a decent ending.
blackest night comics are a work of art
Sad none of Cinemaphile‘s LegionBros are mourning Bendis Legion showing back up with me
None of the books from last week got storytimed, barely anyone noticed it seemes.
And I like his X-Men fwiw
What have the Red Lanterns been up to for the last few years?
Being irrelevant like the rest of the Rainbow Corps, we've been over this, no one has done anything with them ever since Johns left.
Here's an easy way to tell for every DC character: are they Batman or a Batman accessory? If yes, they've been doing stuff; if no, they haven't existed.
DC should throw out everything printed after Zero Hour #1 and just say it everything thats happened since was the reality Parallax created
homie that's a terrible idea. That would mean Hal is still a murderer and the only GL is Kyle goofing it up.
So where does Hal rank on the JL power rank
He is the most powerful along with Kyle Rayner
Stronger than Clark?
Hal (like all GLs) is exactly as powerful as the writer's competency allows, meaning that with a particularly skilled writer Hal could be stronger than Clark yes
Whatever it maybe, I do take enjoyment in the fact that Hal's will is unrivaled and has conquered fear time and time again.
He did beat Zod Ursa and their son at the same time just a few years ago.
Morrison had some cool ideas but not worth the second half.
Huh? Who's this guy? It's not Hal, and last time I checked Parallax wasn't with a host
>Huh? Who's this guy?
Because of time travel/universal reboot shenanigans there's been a version of Parallax Hal out there in the time stream.
The fact that nobody is scrambling to murder Parallax before he murders everyone is absolutely beyond me.
Not a lot of people would know he's out there existing aside from like Booster Gold and maybe a few others, also he hasn't really done anything bad recently plus every crisis that happens needs more attention than him so it's easy to lose track on him
You could look at it that way yes, though given just how long fear bug and that Hal have been bonded I'm sure it's a bit more complex than that
>every crisis that happens needs more attention than him so it's easy to lose track on him
This is how 9/11 happened, I’m just saying.
He doesn't have a reason to murder anyone really, Coast City is fine, and that was like his main reason for doing anything.
So there are technically two Parallaxs right now?
I know for a fact that Jeremy Adams has Green Lantern in the bag, but it's Phillip Kennedy Johnson who I am worried about. His side story with John is boring and could potentially set back Jeremy with it.
We don’t need John Stewart now that we have Jo Mullien.
It's been a minute since I read World's End but I interpreted this Parallax to be more or less how Hal Parallax was understood the month before Rebirth came out and that there is no entity within him.
