People hate this episode? I consider it one of the few tasteful celebrity episodes
Probably helps that I like The Critic.
Im pretty sure only Matt Groening hates this episode
On a personal note, pic related
It might as well be one giant Zombie Simpsons episode, all of the typical tropes where there only they had a giant budget, the most polarizing thing was the praise it got at the time when those same people went back to hating the show
>Im pretty sure only Matt Groening hates this episode
The writers themselves hated the episode because FOX forced them into it. Just before that cap Bart himself comments on it benig another cheap cartoon crossover.

Season 17, Episode 13 - The Seemingly Never-Ending Story. Dunno how hated it is but I assume just cause its a later season it is. I liked it though. Has some good moments and I like the adventure.
Homer VS Dignity. I dunno why people are so butthurt that homer got assraped by a panda, I thought it was hilarious. Especially Moe's response. >Heh, you ain't going nowhere, cutie.
Scully era is generally funny. People tended to hate on it because it wasn't as concerned about telling heartfelt or relatable stories compared to earlier seasons, and more preferred wacky absurd situations and mean-spiritedness.
When you think about it, this is really the show’s canon ending: >the Simpson family never made it out of the island >everything that happened after this episode was a drug-induced hallucination
I've always found the very existence of Comic Book Guy to be an admission of weakness on the part of the writers. It's a clear admission on their part that the internet fanboys were getting under their skin.
Not really. They've used him to make fun of certain type of fanboys but Groening and the other writers were aware of a certain type of comic store owners/readers/nerds and they wanted to include that type of representation.
Season 9 was a transitional season, IMO. Its best episodes feel like they'd fit right at home in the classic era, but the overall quality of the season was a noticeable step down. Not a bad season per se, but you could see hints of what the scully era would eventually turn into here and there.
I can enjoy scully era and early jean era for the most part. They're not classic era levels of good, but I'd be lying if I said there weren't plenty of jokes during those seasons that crack me up.
I feel Simpsons dipped much harder shortly before the time the Movie was getting released. Movie itself is fine (though its not without its issues), but I find it hard to watch most episodes from around there and after.
I liked it because it hit very close to home about how escapism and fantasy worlds you have created in your head can really suck you in to the point where you start being frustrated by the real world and it's obligations.
my sister my sitter is probably one of the most hated classic era episodes, but the people who hate it also love homers enemy, which does the exact same things they complain about in my sister my sitter. both are great episodes, and both are proof that most people are npcs that just regurgitate other people's opinions regardless of if they're logically consistent or not.
Patrick McGoohan W
>Efficient German lovemaking
"Saddlesore Galactica" was good satire for the time it came out; Its not its fault the show went on to become like that for real.
that's the truth and no mistake. the shitty state of the later show makes the wackier-but-still-funny seasons hard to enjoy
Not sure if Simpsons Tall Tales is hated, but it's the episode outside of the golden age that I think about the most.
It sufficiently entertains me every time it's on.

they were being homosexual manchildren
Most of the Scully era episodes

It's considered one of the best modern Simpsons episodes so it's not that hated.
Anon, that episode aired 18 years ago. I don't think you can call it modern.
My Sister My Sitter
Homer VS Dignity. I dunno why people are so butthurt that homer got assraped by a panda, I thought it was hilarious. Especially Moe's response.

They expected far better from The Simpsons
Basically every Scully era ep

Trilogy Of Error
Trilogy of Error isn't hated though, it's frequently cited as one of the few decent Zombie Simpsons episodes
Probably helps that I like The Critic.
It took me two whole decades to realise that Sherman was a cameo from another show rather then just another one-off character.
This,
He's incorporated so well that I never realized he was a cameo.
When you think about it, this is really the show’s canon ending:
>the Simpson family never made it out of the island
>everything that happened after this episode was a drug-induced hallucination
It's easy to passively enjoy nuSimpsons if you just forget what Classic Simpsons was like.
haha therealjims you fricking homosexual with your alcoholic family
>with your alcoholic family
What?
the perfect defense for Saddlesore Galactica an be found in the episode itself.
I've always found the very existence of Comic Book Guy to be an admission of weakness on the part of the writers. It's a clear admission on their part that the internet fanboys were getting under their skin.
Comic Book Guy was funny in his first handful of appearances he was specifically "THAT guy who owns and operates a local comic book store".
Not really. They've used him to make fun of certain type of fanboys but Groening and the other writers were aware of a certain type of comic store owners/readers/nerds and they wanted to include that type of representation.
Only the final act with the jockey elves was bad. I enjoyed the rest of the episode.
Basically all of season 9 episodes

jerk ass homer is the best homer
I didn't really like the episode, but it did have its moments.
>Just like Jimmy Carter
>Pepsi presents New Zanzibar
thats the thing about the Scully years, the plots and writting might not be great but the jokes are.
the Africa episode,in which they find the chimpanzee lady
Yes yes it fricks with sinner's character, but the episode itself was pretty good.
I've always felt the episode outside of the Armin shit was good. If they hadn't doubled down on it later on, it would've been vindicated by history.
i have no problem with this episode and think the people who do took the simpsons way too seriously
Haha that show is trash
