Since Spiderverse is getting huge hype, it's time for this discussion again.

Every once in a while an above average capeshit is released and people screech about how TDK has finally been surpassed. The Avengers, Winter Soldier, Civil War, Logan, GOTG, TSS, Into the Spiderverse, Buck Panther, The Batman, Endgame etc...were all hyped up to be better than TDK. Yet when the next overhyped capeshit comes out it's never "The Best comicbook movie since Spiderverse" or "The best comicbook movie since Logan" It's always "The Best comicbook movie since the Dark Knight". So will Across the Spiderverse be the film to finally break this cycle?

The Dark Knight is such shit. It's just a cheap looking generic vigilante film that could have been a Prime original with no name cast.

Yet it still btfo all other capeshit

Spiderverse isn't even the best capeshit this year. GOTG was better

Gunn's humor was not tolerable in this. That spacesuit communication scene was Taser Face tier bad.

    Batman Begins is better.

The dark knight was a boring and overrated movie. Was nodding off from boredom watching it in the theater and hardly remember anything about it

Dark Knight is the movie that studios took capeshit seriously. Before this movie, ever comic book movie must to campy for over the top. Guarantee, this movie is why Disney bought Marvel. Iron Man would’ve never been made.

There's a bunch of reasons why you're a stupid homosexual but I'm not going to tell you what they are

Favreau is on record saying Batman Begins was what he was aiming for with Ironman.

This is why I never take the "Dark Knight is sooooo overrated bro" crowd seriously. They always have list some other capeshit which are usually nowhere near good as something better. I remember some gay recommending Winter Soldier as a political thriller but it turned out to be a generic piece of shit.

This is why I never give things like superhero shit/Andor the time of day anymore. The amount of insane praise calling Winter Soldier a legitimate spy thriller or whatever and it ended up being just yet another Marvel turd

Absolutely agree with you on Andor. Slop consumers are so used to the absolute generic action farce crap that Disney pumps out that they think Andor is gritty.

          >Andor is gritty
I would say good, else what makes Andor "slop"?

Dark Knight will always be seen as the best 'mature' capeshit film. Spiderverse will be the capeshit film all less serious capeshit will be compared to, so future MCU projects will be compared to Spiderverse. But future 'serious' capeshit will be compared to Dark Knight.

      >so future MCU projects will be compared to Spiderverse.
Possibly but they're still using Endgame and occasionally Winter Soldier as the Benchmark. Spiderverse being animation and non-mcu film will be lost in the shuffle.

Rises was so bad it retroactively ruined the fantastic ending of TDK. You had Batman on the run from the police with great music playing and Gordon talking about how the caped crusader will continue his fight in the dark even when he is being hunted. Then Rises opens with Bruce being a broken man having given up the mantle because his gf was dead. Way to ruin everything from the start.

      >Then Rises opens with Bruce being a broken man having given up the mantle because his gf was dead.
That's not what happened. This is a common misunderstanding. He retires because crime had gotten so low that even the cops didn't have much work then he was active as Bruce Wayne trying to find a miracle solution to poverty i.e free energy but when it failed, he lost most of his wealth and became a recluse.

Last thing we need is having Barbara Gordon also being turned into a trans girl.

I'm okay with trans as long as they're pretty and don't have bottom surgery.

They never understand what made TDK great: it had a great villain. So few modern movies have great villains

You notice that a lot of the recent TDK haters are defensive zoomers who desperately wanted a similar phenomenon out of The Batman. They will never understand the hype this movie had.

Zoomies are a weird generation in that regard. It seems like they REALLY WANT top tier, iconic cinema for their but can't handle the fact they're being served with subpar slop. It's so odd watching them shill every flavor of the month as "peak fiction" and getting offended when it's not that good. The stuff I've seen them shill as "Peak fiction"

      1) Invincible
      2) Attack on Titan
      3) Chainsawman
      4) The Batman
      5) Succession
      6) Better Call Saul
      7) The Boys

Amongst these, I would consider The Batman and BCS as good. Not great mind you, but good. The rest are shlock/trash. Yet, they push these as all time greats. I feel the previous generations were scrutinized shit a lot more. I mean they weren't immune to bandwagoning but you'd get bullied in the past if you thought Naruto was a great show for example which is not the case with this gen.
