I think Matt was always better buds with Kenny than Trey and told him that he needs to focus on KvS because it’s the thing they’re already known for and he was a producer on the show, and that it’s ridiculous to stretch yourself so thin and work like 18 hours a day making two shows because the quality of both will suffer in the end but Kenny being the narcissistic megalomaniac he is didn’t listen and thought he could handle it. I still actually have Testees on dvd, I’m gonna have to bust thing back out because it’s been years since I’ve listened to the commentaries. Very hit and miss show but the highs are very high
makes total sense since Stone was always the "business-minded" one of South Park. It's weird because some of the funniest episodes happened when Kenny was doing Testees too. I'm on the fence on who was right because Stone had a point but if the product still was great then who cares? yeah they're great but kenny is the probably biggest narcissist of all time. i love the show, but for some reason the stuff that kenny finds the most hilarious is the stuff i find the worst. like his stupid character or his stupid bits. the show shines when it's unscripted kenny vs spenny, but for kenny its when he gets to be in the limelight.

Nah I agree with the consensus that he lost because he couldn’t stay in character for more than a couple minutes at a time. He called dozens of “time-outs” and spent most of the episode being himself complaining that Kenny was besmirching his character which is a very Spenny thing to do. I will agree though that had he not cracked every five seconds he would have won by a mile because his impersonation in the very beginning was spot-on

Definitely an absolute favorite episode of mine. If you’ve never seen the show it makes zero sense but even after just seeing a couple episodes it’s absolutely hysterical.

As a huge fan I’d say it’s roughly a 70-30 split with the majority being real in the moment stuff but even during “staged” bits a lot the reactions are all pretty genuine. The only sorts of things that were really heavily staged were like in the whoever touches the ground first loses where they use some film trickery to make it look like they didn’t both immediately lose within the first hour.
