Based Redlettermedia STILL making the autistic incels of Cinemaphile seethe. And your post is a load of bullshit OP. A lot of people were shitting on the prequels before the plinkett reviews. RLM just compiled it all into their reviews. But go ahead and engage in your mental gymnastics because your mind is too fragile to accept that fact. Fricking prequelgays are so moronic, I swear.

I want to know why you believe that ANYTHING Stoklasa had to say had any solid, real world impact on the actual franchise.

He literally suggested JJ Abrams should direct a hypothetical sequel because he praised his Star Trek movie, and then when Disney bought Star Wars they hired JJ Abrams.

Do you honestly think Hollywood is just ignorant of social media, especially when that media is popular for its opinions about their franchises? There's no way. When Max Landis went on HitB fanboying you can be pretty sure anyone invested in Star Wars was fully aware of RLM.

This. He was a proven hit-maker and knew his way around effects-laden blockbusters. Johnson was a more unusual choice, but even Johnson had Looper under his belt by that point. When Trevorrow was announced for IX, he was coming right off of the huge success of Jurassic World. As it turned out none of them were good choices, but they were all obvious choices.

            >All JJ did was make those kinds of movies but better.
I wouldn't say his Trek movies were better. I would say they're even worse since he was not a Trek fan at all. He straight up ignores actual science for one. I mean he had a "cold fusion" bomb which to him meant it made things frozen and not a term used to create fusion at temps slightly lower than the sun but still extremely hot. That's why he was better for Star Wars because logical science doesn't apply in those films to a degree. What he shouldn't have done was write the stories for any movie he makes cause he sucks as a writer.

Nemesis is Star Trek having an awkward goth phase. Nothing about it is particularly well executed, or well considered, and it's boring to watch. The Abrams movies are just dumb action adventure movies that at least succeed at being that.
They probably nail the TOS characters better than the TNG movies nailed the TNG characters, with the weird angry psycho Picard shit too. And I'm not even saying they nail the TOS characters particularly well.

I know this thread is a shitpost, but I see people suggest this all the time. Do people just not remember what Lucasfilm was doing in 2012? The company was on the decline and Lucas was ready to retire. It's that simple. Criticism of the prequels didn't deter Lucas from making one TV show or trying to create a second TV show.

      Anonymous

      >Do people just not remember what Lucasfilm was doing in 2012?
I do. Red Tails was the final nail in the coffin for Lucas as a filmmaker. The way he went around promoting did not help it at all. "I had the first all black cast movie of a story never told until now and no studio wanted to touch it. It's because they were black actors." One it was a massive lie he did the first all black cast movie as anyone with half a brain knew all about the various all black cast movie that had come. Second the story had been told before as a mini-series with a bunch of big name black actors at the time. And third, no studio wanted to work with him because the last 7 years after ROTS was the media lampooning the guy for killing the way movies are made with the overuse of CGI being everywhere. Ironic as Disney would do the very same thing and even going further to ruin how movies are made by filming all the big action set pieces first and THEN writing the story to lead up to them. And finally, to claim it was because of racism is a pathetic stance to make to get pity views from black people.

All he said was that he considered making the first one, to ease Kennedy into the position (and boost Lucasfilm's value ahead of the sale). Even if you believe that, it's still apparent that the sale is what instigated the sequels, not the other way around.
        >but people get mad at him when he does Star Wars?
He didn't seem that concerned when he went through the trouble of selling a treatment he made. In fact, he was hurt that they didn't involve him and more or less discarded most of his ideas. He wanted to have his cake and eat it too.
