It's a double edged sword. On one side the movie is seeing more threads and being talked about. On the other side, the conversations are 90% political crap with "media illiteracy" being the hot new buzzword, so the actual movie itself doesn't get talked about.

I just want a ST thread that talks about the good shit and anons posting quotes or webms of action and the shower scene.

That’s just a fan theory born out of the modern lefts need to overanalyze and fit into boxes all the media they consooome. It could be a false flag but it isn’t a certainty in the film.

This, it's really annoying that people take their assumptions and try to hold them over other people as absolute truths. It's a fun thing to speculate about absolutely, but within the movie, how Klendatu are presented, and not from viewpoint of gay guy from How I Met Your Mother (who can tap into their minds and quite possibly control and not disclose communication with bugs), but from viewpoint of Rico, their only form of communication with people throughout the movie was this. I wouldn't fricking blame anyone watching Starship Troopers for the hell of stomping the bugs.

Why are there so many starship troopers threads

      Anonymous

a popular game came out that borrows from it aesthetically and any time that movie has historically entered the public consciousness, a bunch of people start arguing over whether or not it's okay to enjoy the movie or things inspired by it.

        Anonymous

It's even weirder than that. It's more like whether it's okay to enjoy the movie or things inspired by it certain way that is different from one recently popular way that gained prominence in the internet and any other way is invalid.

          Anonymous

it'd be like if suddenly a bunch of people on the internet started saying you can like Robocop but you can't enjoy the parts like where he shoots people.

            Kek

Who is saying you can't enjoy it? Seems like people are more upset that it can be interpreted as anti-fascist

No one is upset that it could be interpreted as anti-fascist, in fact, everyone knows that it was in fact Verhoeven's very intention. No one denies him literally spelling it out. However, he still painted picture of a functioning society, society that needs war to function and society that is good only for stomping bugs, of course, but still a functioning society. And claiming that propaganda is obvious is useless, because propaganda is only ever effective when it stands to offer something people can buy into, which is why Paul Verhoeven HAD to paint a picture of a functioning society that people can live in, even if it goes directly against his worldview. If he hadn't built a belivable propaganda that people could buy into then he would've failed at making the fricking movie.

And screeching everytime BUENOS AIRES WAS AN INSIDE JOB is pointless, it could be, the movie smartly very intentionally makes that clear. For example, why could it have been only an inside job? Why can't it be neither, why United Citizen Federation couldn't have mistaken (both maliciously and genuinely) an actual random meteor as an attack to use to it as an excuse to further propel their society? These different ideas and discussions about movie are never made and never furthered from infancy because right now bunch of people are just yelling at any other people for not beliving that Buenos Aires was an inside job, new points about the movie aren't being made, it's just people telling other people are wrong for liking things differently without discussing the movie.

Overcharged internet autism and politics brainrot are the problems. I don't see how I can't simultaneously enjoy killing bugs, think there's a good argument for the asteroid being a false flag, and say that Veerhoven could have done a better job at blending how great he made the Federation look against his criticism of it (which was his main intention of course)

      >At this weekend’s ComiCon in Toronto, Casper Van Dien and Dina Meyer (aka Rico and Dizzy) confirmed the long-standing legend that the cast refused to strip down unless their director did the same (albeit Verhoeven got to stay behind the camera while his clothes were off). A lot of people would prefer to face an entire hive of Arachnids before baring all on the big screen but, as the 20-year anniversary of the film approaches, Meyer and Van Dien remain unfazed by the experience of being nude among their co-stars. Seeing their director naked is another story.
      > “It was probably about 100 people in the room,” recalled Meyer, “and Paul’s like ‘Before we start shooting we want you guys to get comfortable with the nudity.’ So he basically had us do a bit of a fashion show without the fashion. We were a little reluctant to disrobe, and Paul was like, ‘I don’t understand you Americans! What’s the big deal? Just do it, it’s fine, no problem!’”
      >“And Dina,” interjected Van Dien, “says ‘Paul, if it’s no big deal why don’t you do it?’ And so he dropped his drawers and all of us were like ‘Augh, god! Dina! Why!?’ So thanks to Dina, we’ve all seen Paul Verhoeven’s… Verhoeven.”

It's funny how the Swedish devs had to ham it up even more than the movie because of how most people found the government in Starship Troopers unironically a great idea.
And even in their overtly hammed up satire people are still finding it a good idea and unironically supporting it.
Leftists just can't help but BTFO themselves.
