The show is probably my go to example now for showing how a story can be utterly ruined by the recent Marvel quipfest style of writing. The plot is insipid. Kong is barely in the fricking thing. It straight up forgets to give a follow-up to what were arguably its main characters in the end of the finale
I sincerely love how silly most of the scenes around the Kraken are and have occasionally rewatched select episodes to laugh at stuff like the whale toss
But no, the show is fricking dismal on the whole. Unfortunately I know I won't be able to resist if there's a second season

The seventh episode is basically entirely a flashback centered around Kong. It's actually pretty decent and the high point of the entire thing
The last episode has the fight against the Kraken which is okay but suffers from being set in the present with the rest of the cast around
Everything leading up to those last two episodes is pure garbage

The girl behind the two boys is the main character, unironically. She rescues the guys a lot, and there's jokes of the boys being useless, and she's the center of the core plot while the guys are treated like side characters.
Also everyone makes dumb quips during serious scenes to the point where it gets annoying.
Nothing about Annie's characterization makes sense
The morons in the writing room thought "I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS" was comedy gold but couldn't actually summon the brainpower to depict her as actually isolated so they just had her be a normal sounding girl who arbitrarily couldn't conceive of basic shit
Mediocre, forgot about it and I hate the anime bulldog thing especially the fact that it murdered like 20 people and by the end lol that's okay and the dumb b***h Mom didn't simply just find the girl and walk up to her but sent brain dead mercs to capture her and kill her pet/friend they couldnt kill.

This was my biggest issue, why even have that for a plot line. They should have just had the Mercs come here for materialistic and selfish reasons, don't even have the mother character at all. It should have been a race to claim the island and their unique flora/ fauna that the Marcs were after and they just happened to come across the feral girl. You could even have a character building plotline with the mercs about whether they should go out of their way to save her or leave the girl and focus on the mission. I'm a sucker for seemingly hardened mercenaries with hearts of gold, but making the rescue their primary mission is boring and the show was running out of ways to build conflicts between the different factions early on.
I remember the plot being described as Jurassic Park 3 but worse
Like imagine if after running into the Spino, the Kirbys refused to explain who the frick Eric is and why they tricked Alan into coming to the island
