The contrary. Dogville is really stupidly written, the way the movie flips a switch and ALL the characters suddenly turn from heckin' super wholesome to comically evil bastards is beyond forced. Manderlay actually feels like it has a solid script and isn't just (poorly) beating you over the head with its point.
There was no switch. They were never wholesome to begin with. A character announced this in the first 10 minutes.
